  1. You know...I hadn't thought about that...hmmm? I going to taste it on my trip this summer - I'll see if the baker has any suggestions. But I wonder what type of filling would go with it...how about straight rum! LOL
  2. We're having a vanilla rum cake! Thought it would be appropriate for the locale and light enough for guests to enjoy. Traditional Jamaican wedding cake was also on the list of options, but I didn't think my American guests would enjoy - very dark, and heavy (they soak the fruit in rum for at least a year!)
  3. Congrats and Welcome! I of course am partial to Jamaica - it's my favorite island - period. But I'm not doing all inclusive - we're doing private villas. So can't help you there. But things to consider that might help others help you - what are you looking for? what type of people are your guests? adventurous or will they stay at the resort? couples? older folks? children? What's your price point? Do you want to get married on the beach, etc? Scour the subforums for each and get to googling! Trip Advisor is great also if you're trying to get an "inside scoop" on particular resorts. Good Luck!!!
  4. Check this out http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...06-10-a-59469/ and check out her slideshow...she has pics of the fire dancer!
  5. Your pictures are great! I'm also having DJ Gemini so I'm happy to hear he rocked it for y'all!!
  6. Let me recommend Ari with Negril Jamaica Weddings.com. She is absolutely FANTASTIC! I'm so serious. We're getting married at Villas Sur Mer - On the cliffs in Negril, Jamaica next April. I was originally set on Tensing Pen | A Secluded Destination Resort in Jamaica, but because of some issues with transparency on charges and (mis)communication, I decided to look elsewhere. Ari works with a number of venues. I know The Negril Escape Resort & Spa is one of them. Though she recommended Negril Escape, for what I wanted, she recommended Villa Sur Mer instead. I looked at their website and read reviews on Villas Sur Mer (Negril, Jamaica) - Villa Reviews - TripAdvisor and was immediately sold. You should definitely contact Ari. Let me know if you need any additional help.
  7. This is great! Will definitely try to do this. @tiffandmarv and princess j...can you update us on whether this worked out for you or not. my wedding's not until next april. i'm wondering how far in advance i should order?

  11. Nice wedding date ;-) We're getting married in Negril on 4/16/11 at Villa Sur Mer! Just out of curiosity, who's your wedding planner? I'm working with Ari with Negril Jamaica Weddings
  12. Welcome and Congrats!!! You've found the PERFECT place for tons of ideas!!!
  13. I've seen a lot of nice Jute bags on BDW being used for OOT bags. Where can I buy these online? I've googled "Milan Jute Bags" and all of the companies seem to be imprint companies. I'd like plain ones - don't want to overdo it with our names and logo. Anybody have a good source?
  14. Congrats and Welcome!!! There's lots and lots of great info on here - Enjoy!!
  15. No worries. Peak now...plan later. And with this forum you'll have everything put together in no time - PROMISE!
  16. Welcome! Might I suggest the cliffs of Negril...partial as I may be ;-)
  17. Wow! Thanks for this...I'm hoping that most brides are flying into MoBay as opposed to Kingston.
  18. I'm working with Ari and she is the TRUTH! @debbmach - its hard to tell you exactly how much it costs because it depends on EXACTLY what you want. Ari breaks EVERYTHING down, so you have exactly what you want/what's in your budget. The biggest cost of course is your food and drink. It also depends on your venue. But I'd say tell her what you want to spend and she can help you make it work. If you're not doing a resort or doing a resort that allows an outside wedding planner, I'd say definitely contact Ari. And feel free to PM me
