  1. does anyone know if these brochures are for any certain time period? i.e. is it the 2010 book and they'll soon be a 2011 book? just wondering if i should wait to order until after the new year since our wedding's not til april.
  2. Hi! Does anyone know the difference between RIU Negril and RIU Tropical Bay? I just got back from Negril a couple of weeks ago but didn't check out these resorts. I remember RIU Negril being the one further from Negril proper, but other than that (and the price difference) is one truly "better" than the other? Just considering for accommodations, not for ceremony/reception. Thanks!
  3. Thanks ladies!! I'm hoping everything works out...then I'll be a GBP bride too!
  4. Hi ladies! I'm a Negril bride, but I might just be jumping ship for GBP. I have a quick question for you! Did you all work with a travel agent or go directly through Gran Bahia Principe? Do guests have to pay for their trip in full in order to book or do they accept a deposit?
  5. Quick question for the Gran Bahia brides! Did you all work with a travel agent or go directly through Gran Bahia Principe? Do guests have to pay for their trip in full in order to book or do they accept a deposit?
  6. HELP!! Can any of the JA brides recommend a GOOD travel agent who assist me? I'm currently scheduled to get married in Negril, but our guest list just exploded (from an expected 40 to an expected 79) and our resort can't accomodate everyone. I've managed to locate additional accomodations, but I'm sensing that this might turn into a headache and I won't be able to enjoy myself trying to ensure everyone's comfort and fun. My solution? An affordable all inclusive that allows children. I have my eyes set on Gran Bahia - beautiful, and not far from Ocho Rios, where I think a large group can access more things to do (i.e. tours, dunns river, etc). All that to say, please point me in the direction of a GOOD (and pleasant) travel agent who can help me sort some things out! Thanks!!
  7. I'm doing Appleton Rum & Blue Mountain Coffee. We're staying in villas so we'll also be putting a 6pk of Red Stripe in each refrigerator.
  8. (raises hand)...i have a question. doorhangers? whaddaya mean? pics anyone?
  9. we have 60 booked with the possibility of another 10-15. capping it at 80.
  10. I plan on doing the same thing. I've purchased samples from Wedding Linens Direct and have gotten them in as quick as 2 days! I definitely plan on using them.
  11. Just curious while I wait for an official answer from my WP, are children usually counted in the "per person" count? I have 4 children under the age of 6 attended and wondering if I should be adding them to my count.
  12. No matter what you do, people will complain. We anticipated some people not being able to afford it or simply not wanting to shell out the dough. So before we even sent out the Save-the-Date packets, we vowed that whoever came came and we would have a BLAST. And going in with that attitude totally helps. So whenever someone says anything remotely related to the cost, either directly to us or to someone else and it gets back to us, we simply and lightheartedly say that we understand, if they can't make it it's fine, but we just wanted to extend the invite. I think when you let people know it bothers you, for some reason they continue to run their mouths. Take the power back from them. It's your wedding and in the end make a short list of the people without whom you would not want to get married. When I did that, the only people that absolutely HAD to be there or I wouldn't get married were him, my daughter, his mother and my best friend. That's it. And they're all coming. So it will be perfect. Be encouraged.

  14. This is AWESOME and if it doesn't break the bank (we're having close to 100 guests) I might just do the same!! Good luck!
  15. I've decided not to do OOT bags. In each villa, however, each person will get their own 200ml Appleton Rum and a small package of Blue Mountain Coffee. I've made rum recipe cards (Rum Punch, Rum Cake, Mojito) with Vistaprint and will tied them to the rum bottle. Welcome Letter, Itinerary, Currency Conversion (business size) card. For the villa, I will put a few bottles of water and a 6 pk of Red Stripe in the fridge, and fresh fruit on the counter. At the ceremony, I'm placing fans on each chair.
  16. It seems like many people incorporate the children into the ceremony by having them take part in the sand ceremony. I have a daughter who will be 16 when we get married. My fiance has been a big part of her life and considers himself her father. She will be my maid of honor and after we exchange our rings, we plan to give her a right-hand ring as well. my e-ring is yellow sapphire, so hers will have yellow sapphire in it as well. I will wear three rings to symbolize our family - e-ring and two bands, one for each my daughter and fiance. He wants her to have a piece of jewelry that connect her to us in the same way our rings connect us to each other.
  17. So glad I found this thread. I was about to go through the door of no return. I had never heard of OOTs before BDW. I was originally planning to do welcome baskets - 1 per room with water, red stripe, juice, plantain chips, appleton rum, blue mountain coffee, jerk seasoning and fresh fruit. Then after seeing so many cute ideas, I added OOT bags to the mix. Now I feel better about those back of my mind voice that says DON'T DO IT -- OUR BUDGET IS BURSTING AT THE SEAMS! Going back to the baskets. But I'll give my BMs OOT bags. Inside I'll add some goodies plus what I was already planning to give them as presents - their jewelry and hair fascinators for the ceremony. Glad to know OOTs aren't usually expected. I've never been to a destination wedding myself.
  18. Thanks ladies. I think I might just wait to see the pics to decide...but I think I might follow your footsteps autjo...that sounds nice :-)
  19. Hi ladies, I'm planning on having BD shoot and creating a book for my love. I'm wondering - when/how do you plan to give yours to your fiance? I was thinking I would either give it to him the night before -or- have it delivered to him the day of. My only thought though is that he probably won't want to look at the pics in front of his homeboys...but then again... So what are you ladies planning to do?
  20. Cute! these ideas could definitely work for the babies/children. Thanks! ...Just what to do for the teens. Maybe just some beachy stuff? towel, flip flops, underwater camera? what else could you give a teen?
  21. I'm having 6 teens and 4 children attend our wedding and wondering what to give them in their OOT bags. Are any of you ladies doing separate bags for teens/children? If so, what goodies are you giving?
