  1. That's so great you found one you love! And they owe you a full refund for sure.
  2. I had the same problem, but you can change the resolution of your pictures pretty easily. I used photoshop and these directions: http://akvis.com/en/photoshop-tips/resolution.php If you don't have photoshop just search in google with "change picture resolution"
  3. I kept trying to get the free brochures by typing "free brochure templates" into google and nothing for vistaprint was coming up...so annoyed I went and tried the same thing on FI's computer and there it was! I think if you've already ordered from there it somehow remembers you and you don't get all the offers.
  4. My parents are also paying for everything. A few years ago they saw a wedding at a resort and came home and told us that if we ever wanted to do a DW they'd pay for it. We are super lucky, I know every family is different. Two of my friends are paying for their whole weddings themselves.
  5. My MOH is my sister and my other bridesmaid is FI's sister so their dresses are being paid for - about $175 each. One of them would not be able to afford the dress if it wasn't so it seemed fair to pay for both.
  6. Everything looked great, the "green" welcome books are amazing! congrats on the upcoming babe
  7. Everything looks amazing, I love your colors. I wish I'd been brave enough for red!
  8. That really sucks, ugh! You should definitely go down and talk to the bridal shop in person. While it isn't their fault that the factory shut down they are somewhat responsible since they chose to carry their dresses, so you definitely deserve compensation. Try not to be hysterical when talking to them (though I know I'd be in tears) but people who put up a fuss generally get better service.
  9. We're having a stag & doe 2 months before the wedding and noone questioned it at all, but they're pretty common around here. The point of it is to raise money sure, but for us the best part is that it will be a huge party with all the people that aren't coming to the wedding. We're trying to make sure that it will be a lot of fun for people so that they feel it was worth the money they spent - a DJ, lots of prizes, a game where people can pay to shoot paintballs at FI, beer pong etc
  10. The day after we got engaged I sent my mom an email, then FI changed our relationship status. We didn't think it was a big deal, we've been common-law for years and had originally thought it'd be a small simple wedding anyway. But we did have some friends who were offended we didn't tell them personally.
  11. Wow, Rome! That's awesome. We're going to have a welcome dinner the day we all get to the resort so that everyone can get to know each other a little since we're all at the same resort for a week. And we're looking at doing a Saona Island excursion for the group, we want to do something for everyone but aren't sure yet what the most people will enjoy. I think the night before the wedding will end up being a girls group/guys group thing because my friends are pretty excited about having a bachelorette party at the resort.
  12. We got the LED flicker tea lights to use for our centrepieces. They look pretty much the same as regular tea lights with less hassle, and weren't too expensive from Party Packagers.
  13. http://www.gunthergifts.com/diphgubo.html We're going to use this guestbook. My cousin has a portable printer made for pictures so she'll bring that and we'll ask someone to take pictures of everyone so guests can leave a note under their picture. Though now I'm sort of wishing I'd seen that photobook idea before...definitely cheaper and easier!
  14. I just read the thread about the LED throwies the other day and love the idea. I'll probably get 30 12" lanterns (I can't see needing that many but good to have extras) but haven't decided if I should get all white or add some yellow
  15. There is a $50 screening fee for each colour you use, so maybe that's what was raising your price. We got lucky with our order, and 2 weeks after it said it went through I got an email that the mug we wanted was out of stock, so they gave us a similar and more expensive one for the original price. Ours arrived pretty quickly after I got the notification it was shipped, with no brokerage fees or trouble with the border at all.
  16. I'd planned on shipping it at first, canada post says it can take up to 2 months to get there but since I have most of my diy stuff ready ahead of time I thought it'd be easiest that way...but my mom seems to think this would be a bad idea in case or corruption. So the plan is to use people's second suitcase for our decorations and oot bags. Between my cousins and us we have 5 kids and their clothes won't take any more than one suitcase so that should be plenty of extra space. I hope!
  17. I'm definitely having the nightmares about everything going wrong! The biggest things stressing me out were getting everyone booked and getting confirmation from the groomsmen that they're actually coming, then getting clothes for them. We just got that stuff all figured out so I'm breathing a little easier.
  18. I saw a centrepiece with live fish on one of those wedding shows - I think Four Weddings on TLC - and some of the fish didn't make it through the night...kind of a mood killer. Just a warning!
  19. Sorry about the cancellation I ordered the same fans from oriental trading, the price couldn't be beat but they aren't kidding when they say sizes may vary....some are the size of my hand and others are 4 times that...I'd suggest ordering an extra dozen then you can skip the really tiny and really large.
  20. I don't know what I would have done if I hadn't found this site! Very cool that you're trying to make it even better

Like you said, we're stuck with the rings forever so we should be happy with the ring right?? :/ A lot of moms end up taking off their engagement ring after accidentally scratching their babies with it (happened to me and I almost cried!) so if you have kids planned maybe you will only end up wearing it for a few years then have a good excuse to just wear the band!
  22. Thanks for the tips! I'd thought about sephora but it might be more than I want to spend on just makeup...Though probably worth it if it means not photoshopping a streaky black face! Because I definitely don't want to go makeup-less even for the TTD, I'd rather not look 16 in my wedding dress I'll try the gosh eyeliner first, shoppers is so much closer anyway.
