dunno, 18 months is pretty young, but depends how obedient she is! i suppose you can dress her up to be a flowergirl anyway, and if she doesn´t perform at least she´ll match you in the pictures. i am so gutted now that it´s all over and you lot are still counting down. 14 weeks nic, you will be there in no time! can i stow-away in your case? Pleeeeease????? going to bookmark that trip you said about, i think we´re all booking to go away to DR next jan for our 1st anniversary, should hopefully be about 10 of us. I´m making plans left right and centre, but we don´t even know where we´ll be living. it looks like we´re coming back to England. I can´t believe i struggled to plan that bloody wedding from Spain, when everything would have been so much easier if i was back home...... and NOW we decide to return! At least it´s giving me something to plan, most people start trying for a baby after they get hitched, but that particular shop is most definitely shut!

that reminds me nicy, if you´re getting bags of rose petals as part of your package, and you want them scattering by a little person, take something to put the petals in as they come in a plastic bag with a bit of ribbon on it! i never even noticed at the time, but looking back ath the wedding video today, it´s really funny, mia´s got her flowers and a polybag of petals! i´d have brought a cone or a little basket or something if i´d have thought of it!

RIU RM Palace Brides??
janapana replied to Jaime's topic in Destination Wedding in Riviera Maya, Cancun & surrounding areas
We were at the tequila just down the road, and you couldn´t do your own washing, but you could send it off to the laundry service. it was SUPER CHEAP!!!!! we got about 15 items done, jeans, tops etc and it cost about 350pesos. that´s like, what, 20 pounds or 30 dollars? dunno about steaming, my dress spent 48 hours in a suitcase and came out wrinkle-free! -
well we went based on my friends recommendation, she´d been to the one in cancun and said it was amazing. after going to the one in p d c she said cancun is much better. don´t get me wrong, we enjoyed the first two bars, carlos n charlies and señor frogs, but coco bongos was super crowded, and you´re all sort of squished up in lines on these tiny terraces, watching the show below. i would have gone to the one in cancun but i thought i´d probably puke in the taxi on the way home!

nicy the wedding was at the palace mexico. it was gorgeous, and the rprm comes up even better on trip advisor so you´ve got nothing to worry about. the wc´s are all really nice and organised, ours was patricia and she was fine about using my chair sashes for free, and my cake decorations, and the cd for the music. the renova spa was excellent if you´re thinking of using it, and the in-house photographers were great too ( very bossy, but she got nice shots so i´m not complaining.) If there´s certain shots you want make sure you ask, and maybe make sure your room is tidier than ours was cos in some of the photos you can see our shite lying around everywhere! also you can totally haggle on the prices, don´t pay anything upfront. we said we didn´t want the dvd but she sent someone to do it anyway, he wanted 450$US for it, we got it for 300. meant to say before. we were told not to take USDollars, but they are used EVERYWHERE. it was a total pain in the arse not having any. Also we did 3 trips, coco bongo bar crawl in playa del carmen, was ok but wouldn´t do it again, think the one in cancun´s better. alltournative jungle maya...... zip lining, repelling, mountain biking 4x4-ing, underground snorkelling. It was AWESOME! not really my kind of thing to go running round the jungle in the rain, but i loved it. Then we did dolphin discovery to isla mujeres, that was fantastic too. Michelle you have the patience of a saint. Like my dad says, say nothing, think bollocks. then after you´re married you can say bollocks too.

actually i sent the kids off to school with antony and went back to bed til 12. much better. now i have to iron tho, or my husband will wonder what i´ve been doing all day. waybuloo & michelle i think the wedding makes everything worse than it actually is, so much more stress. once the weddings are over you can ditch the in-laws! also, those resorts are usually big enough to get lost if you don´t want to be found..... i think i had maybe 3 convo's with my mil, not deliberatley, just cos we were never in the same place at the same time. i really feel for you both cos i was miserable as sin before we said i do, but think about why you want to marry him, because the good times will be back once the stress is over. Honestly Michelle, i would say it´s ok not to be so excited. even the day before the wedding i was a bit indifferent, and worse on the actual day, but me and ants have got on a lot better since we came home. i´m glad i´ve married him! i think it´s insane that we put so much stress on one particular day and then end up disappointed having said all that, you´ll probably be fine, but i had to be honest, and i don´t think it matters so much if that one day isn´t all you think it´ll be, cos it´s the rest of your life that´s important. and i know you don´t get on with his mum, but everything is amplified at the moment, once you´re married it´s like a weight´s lifted off. also it might be a bit like that for your fi too. ants was a right mardy-arse the last month before we got married, who knows maybe he was having cold feet too, but like i said things are much better now. keep your chin up luv! xx

Ok here is my mini review of just the wedding bit, more from a personal point of view than a hotel review. It pissed it down on our wedding day, torrential rain, and i woke up in a foul mood! We were having a great holiday but there is always stress where my son is concerned and i wouldn´t say that we were having the most romantic time! So anyway, i woke up with a major case of cold feet, not so much that i wasn´t going to get married, just that i was wishing i didn´t have to do it that day, or that holiday. Seriously I spent probably the next two hours crying my eyes out, i hated my dress, hated my jewellery, my skin was COVERED in spots, face and chest, i felt fat and flabby, two of my best friends werent´there. I was a fucking nervous wreck (excuse the language!) Antony went into panic mode thinking i didn´t want to get married, not the best way to start your wedding day! I went off to the renova spa, they were great in there and i totally calmed down, i had hair makeup and nails done by fabiola. the nails and hair were excellent, the makeup was a bit drag queen ish, but she covered all my spots up so you couldn´t see them at all, so good i forgot all about them, which was a miracle. When i got back to the room i took off a bit of the makeup, so ants didn´t think he was marrying a him-shim. I´m still glad i had her do my makeup, cos she did it heaps better than i could of. I got a call off the wedding coordinator saying she´d moved the ceremony from the gardens to the chapel in the palace across the road so i was well pleased with that. All was looking good. When i got back to the room my flowers had arrived, cream roses with irises in them. We´d agreed on purple flowers and the irises were definitely blue, plus they were all fluffy and stood out funny like feathers, so i whipped them all out and just went with the roses. The wc picked me up and then frogmarched me through the resort (which was quite nice cos everyone was cheering!), then accross the road to the palace and then before i knew it i was walking into the chapel. I would have really appreciated a coupe of minutes to myself to stop sweating from the walk, dab myself down and check my hair and makeup cos on the photos my hair is a mess and i´m all sweaty! Then i walk in to find jacob in antony´s arms with no intention of getting down. The first part of the ceremony was ok like that except jakey was on the photography side so you couldn´t see much of ants, then when it came time to put jacob down so we could hold hands and say our vows, the lot went up. Ants sister took jacob, who spent the next 5 mins throwing a tantrum. totally distracting and so loud i haven´t got a clue what the judge said and in the process chucked the starfish that the rings were tied to. On the dvd you can hear the "ping" as my wedding ring hits the floor. When the judge asked for the rings, ants sister said "there´s two there, we´ve lost one. we´ll have to look for it later" MARVELLOUS. JUST MARVELLOUS. so we used my e-ring. i did not kick off cos i´ve been brought up nicely, but someone a bit more stressy would probably have hit the roof. (it´s a good job that i cried so much that morning and it was all out of my system) The ring was found about 5 min later. I can´t really blame ants family for this (although it wouldn´t have happened if jacob was sitting with my parents). I´d decided not to be bridezilla, and let ants take care of things, and cos his parents don´t see much of our kids he let them have jacob. -big mistake. huge. Anway moving on. the photographer was good, except maybe for a bit of attention to detail, stuff like there´s her rucksack on the grass in one of the photos, but i can photoshop that out. There is room for haggling on the price too. The cocktail hour was back at our hotel,(the tequila) and ants disappeared for a bit of that cos jacob was kicking off so bad, so there are a lot of photos of me with our guests! The dinner was nice, and antony´s speech was excellent, I got SHITFACED!!!!!! We used a white board for the guestbook, that was one of the best ideas i´ve ever stolen. Everyone loved it. Ants mum and dad bought us an actual guest book too, i told them about the white board and said what we´d do is leave blank pages between each guest so we could stick in the corresponding photos..... When i got the guest book back they´d got everyone to write at the beginning, 15 pages of writing 40 blank pages...... sigh. Not that important really i guess. So to sum it up. IF YOU ARE AT ALL BOTHERED ABOUT THINGS GOING SMOOTHLY, TAKE COMPLETE CONTROL!!!!! For me, i was just glad to get through the day in one piece. I think if we´d done it outside, jacob would have not been so much trouble, but you can´t do anything about the weather. I haven´t said a bad word to antony about his family fucking up our day, because i just imagine how bad i would feel in their place. This seems like quite a negative review, it was actually a lot of fun, we all laughed a hell of a lot and it was defintiely memorable. Honestly? i wish i´d waited until my son was older and not such a little shit, i should have known better. I love him to pieces but he is two. what can you do? I also wish i´d stuck to my diet and exercise plan better, because to my eye i look fat and my arms look terrible on the photos. We had a fab time on the holiday, but i wouldn´t say my wedding day was my favourite day, i preferred the days when we were all just chilling out on the beach together! We´re all planning on going away again together next year. God i hope i haven´t put any of you lot off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hiya girls, sneaked on here while my HUSBAND is minding the kids. if josie hasn't left yet, you need to bring a cardi, it's cold at night! so i am safely married..... just about, honestly you could send a copy of our wedding video to you've been framed! if i can give you one word of advice it would be.... take control, leave nothing to chance. (also do not take your two year old son to your wedding!) i'll fill you in on the details later, but i had a great day, was loads of fun, but it's lucky i've got a sense of humour! to start off with it pissed it down torrentially so they moved the location to the chapel in the palace across the road. that was lovely. my in laws were in charge of jacob who had the rings. Jacob had a tantrum and LOST MY WEDDING RING, so i had to get married with my e ring and jacob screaming blue murder in the background. in all the photos ants is holding jacob so it looks like i'm marrying my son. like i say, lucky i can laugh about it. (and they found my wedding ring later.) see you all in a week or so. love joxx

Ok that´s me, I´m done. Just finished packing, had a temper tantrum when my wedding dress kept falling off the hanger, had a crying fit when i saw antony´s grandad´s pocketwatch that he´s planning on wearing..... i´m an emotional wreck. this is not like me at all! char, glad to hear you´ve sorted out what you really want, you will have an amazing wedding, wherever it is. Josie, good luck with your wedding, you´ll be gone before i get back, hope everything is wonderful for you. To everyone else, thanks for listening to me rant over the last 10 months, see you all when i get back. jo XX

OMG I AM SOOOOOOOOO EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!! I had a couple of texts last night from my friend who´s gone to the resort ahead of us, she says the hotels lovely, foods amazing etc, it´s hot but not boiling aparently, but i´ll need a cardi at night (i am always cold!) and she says i´m going to LOVE it there. She said the sun´s going down at 4 ish so i´m glad we booked the wedding for 3 and not 4! Going to get my hair done in a bit, then have final tetanus shot, then get one of my fake nails fixed (only had them on since fri, my friend did them and didn´t do the best job unfortunately, think i´m going to have to either remove them or get them filled when we get there). then ôm gong to make us all put our jamas on so i can do the washing, make antony finish packing the cases so i can see the floor again to clean it. and maybe then have a cheeky beer. BECAUSE I LEAVE TOMORROW. HEHEHE My friend who went to mexico on Sat got a 4 hour delay, i´ve been keeping an eye on that flight, and it seems to be normal, but i´m not going to stress cos it´s just an opportunity to spend more time and money in duty free, and it will give Jacob´s english grandparents the chance to spend some time with him ;-) they only see him a few times a year so they always want as much of him as they can get, so much so that they´ve said they´ll have him on the plane with them. Winner. Sorry for the ramble, i´m a bit hyper this morning!
