  1. I won't be having a flower girl or ring bearer or anything, so I figured I should have something to put our rings in during the ceremony. Forgive the horrible sand I used for this pic, apparently Vancouver sand is terribly rocky! I threw it in the garbage right after this pic, haha. We'll replace it with nice Cancun sand for the ceremony. Coloured sand looks beautiful [so nice to match your wedding colours too!], but I'll used plain sand so the blue sapphires in my ring will stand out. The lions paw shell is from Micheals for about $4 The orchid is about $.75 The ribbon is about $.10 So $4.85 total. An easy, cheap and pretty DIY.
  2. Hey ladies! Woke up to a nice big box outside of the door [who doesn't love packages?!!?]. My mugs are in! We got 25 travel mugs from discountmugs.com and added our graphic, I was worried it would be to small but I think it turned out just fine. I tried to keep the message generic so our guests might consider using post-wedding. They're stainless steel on the inside too. Best of all, no brokerage charges at the door! I was dreading it, since most other Canadian brides had to pay brokerages. Yah yah! The last Canadian bride who posted hers didn't have to pay either, let's cross our fingers for all future Canadian desties!!
  3. Good choice on Deep Seatini! Super cute. My suggestion if you have another blue drink is the "I Do Blue" cocktail. I like the sound of "I'll have another I Do Blue por favor!". Nice and wedding-y Ooo maybe I'll just make an I Do Blue Brew at my wedding too, lol.

I def found the most time consuming part was editing in photoshop, it's so hard to get your wording perfect. The cutting, taping, etc only took a day (For about 16 passports) so you can just do them little by little in your spare time, or recruit some friends! There might be a way to attach the spine w/ a ribbon or something, but I just glued/taped my pages back to back. (ie page 1 was taped to the cover, page 2 taped back-to-back to page 3, 3 taped to 4, etc...) After about 6 books I realized the glue was making the pages bumpy and I switched to double sided tape. I don't care enough to redo the 1st 6 though
  5. Aiyiyi, I should correct myself, I've been so addicted to dollar stores I'm getting them confused. I was thinking of DOLLAR WORLD that had the first aid kits. Everything in the store is pretty much $1.25. It was great for double sided tape, hand sanitizer, first aid kits (they had hundreds at mine), and they had card stock for 4 for $1.25.
  6. FI is almost 15 years older! Lots of years and lots of love between us.
  7. Ok ladies, I did some digging and found the original template I started off from! So a HUGE thank you to ktchi from BDW for posting your template. I love this detail for the wedding and after finishing them I finally feel like I got something real done. (Though on a side note I got my dress back from alterations this evening and it's so much better!--big check off my list ) I've attached the template, hopefully it helps some people. I'd definitely recommend making the cover (front and back) page larger so that it fits around the rest of the pages easier. I learned this the hard way and wasted quite a few sheets of card stock trying figure it out -- pricey mistake for a budget bride like me!
  8. Thanks ladies! I should correct myself too, it wasn't Becks template, I'm not sure which destie it was, if I can find her I'll let you know! I just searched "Passport" and pieced together bits and pieces.
  9. They were at the Michaels in Vancouver too at around 3 or 4 dollars a piece. They get pricey but look great.
  10. Just finished my Passports, I've been putting off printing them for a long time. I did it the super budget way so the inner pages are computer paper, glued back to back and the cardstock for the covers was on sale. I'm happy with how they turned out. BIG thanks to Becks who posted a template a few years back that was a good jump off point for me. Took a lot of editing and learning some new skills on Powerpoint but I think my guests will enjoy them. I'm so sick of cutting paper for all the pages, haha!
  11. As a fellow Canadian bride, I'd recommend hitting different dollar stores, especially Dollarama. They have great hand sanitizers for under a dollar, and the one here had those cute first aid kits everyone has for $1.25. Just add some pepto bizmol tablets and advil and add a heart sticker or your monogram on the front.
  12. Dropping these guys down to $20. I think they'd be great for the guest book table too.

So glad I was able to be a part of this special tradition! What a beautiful picture!! Your bouquet looks beautiful and the lace piece is stunning, and so sentimental. I'm excited to receive the starfish. Hopefully you got my address change that I PM'd you. Congrats on becoming a MRS!
  14. Hey desties! I made an extra cake topper that I've posted on etsy here: Penguin cake toppers by TheOffbeatBear on Etsy It's priced higher on etsy but I'll sell the pair of love birds to a BDW bride for $25 + shipping. Just PM me and I'll change the etsy listing for you to "Penguin Cake Toppers - Reserved for _______" and I'll adjust the price on the listing.
  15. Hey everyone, just wanted to share this great deal though it's for today only. I thought it would be a beautiful album for BD pics or wedding photos. It's $35 for $115 Worth of Keepsake Books from Photobook Canada. The coupon says it expires in 2 years, but Photobook Canada said they would honour the coupon after the 2 years as well. (In case your weddings are still a whiles away) You have to sign up to groupon to get the deal, I use it and love it, but it's a bit addictive like BDW Chicago Deal of the Day | Local Daily Deals from Groupon
  16. Bahaha braaaaains... I have them a much needed second coat and everything looks way better. I also made a little tombstone with our names to tie it all together. I think I'm getting a harsh crafting addiction :S
  17. After the success of the zombie topper, I decided to tackle another favorite of mine, penguins! Those little love birds mate for life He has a charming blue bow tie and top hat, and she's sporting a cathedral veil since penguins tend to have a flair for the dramatic.
  18. I still need a base, and some touch up paint, but all the hard stuff is done! I was inspired by BDW bride Melaina's super cute cake topper and decided to try to make one too. I did this last night using Sculpty Bake Shop oven-bake clay, and a little kiddy paint set from the dollar store. I'm happy with how it turned out. I haven't sculpted since my Playdoh days, and had no clue what I was doing, but this was fun! *Warning* this ones not for the squeamish! He's giving her a brain, and she's giving him a heart (anatomical of course!) I added my hubby's chin scar.
  19. pictures! We want pictures! I love doorhangers for weddings, it's such a cute detail!

You American ladies are so lucky to have so many great deals and free shipping on wedding stuff!
  21. Thanks ladies, there are still promocodes available (I think right now "discount10" gets you 10% off) which is great, but it seems there BASE prices went up. It's only another $30-$50 or so, so I'll eat the cost. It was just an unwelcome surprise. Darn wedding budgets
  22. Arrrgh, I've been waiting for FI for the last 2 days to help me pick out a final mug design for our guests, and is it just me or did the prices sky rocket since yesterday?? My mug order is coming out about $50 higher no matter which one I choose and for such a small order it's working out to over $10 a cup. I'll probably still do this for my guests but it's frustrating how expensive it's getting. I knew I shoulda ordered them yesterday *grumble grumble*
  23. They sent me another email for a bunch of free stuff, so if you're looking to place a vistaprint order in the near future, make sure to sign up for their offers. You'll get most things 80% off usually if not completely free. You just pay the shipping. The photobook has been really cute and a lot of people are asking where they're from. It comes with a pretty thick plastic cover that has a velum type look to it. I also got the smallest one, but there were 2 larger ones that were free in this offer as well. Thanks for the compliments ladies, I love vistaprint!
