  1. We just returned back from our site visit...I read up on what is going on there before we left. Most of the violence is at the border..in the resorts you have nothing to worry about. What the article's said was not to go any where alone..especially in the dark, not to wonder places you aren't familiar with...very commonsense stuff! It also said that you would be affected by the violence in the resorts on the coast just as somebody in Chicago would be affected by an earthquake in California!! It'll be just fine!!
  2. Congrats!! I can't wait to see your pictures and read your review!! I appreciate you sharing this with us!! Can you tell me what your timeline was? Did you give them music for your ceremony as well? If you did - did you just put each song on CD? Where was your reception located? Thanks again - SO MUCH!!
  3. I received an email responding to my complaint from the Director of Sales...this is what it said: "Dear Sarah: Is in our best interest to exceed your expectations in your wedding date, thereforeI would like to inform you that we have renew our contract with our vendors / outside service providers, and here is the list of the approved vendors as of today, we will keep you posted any update: Approved vendors: Flowers: Fressia & Glayde DJ´s: Visual sound & AVI Sound System Musicians: Mariachi la Diferencia / Trio Caribeño los selectos Video: Blue Channel Photographer: Adventure Photo Furniture & Décor: Pending Our main concern is satisfaction & safety, this is why we have listed our approved vendor list, you will be getting some benefits and most important a responsible and qualify vendor for your important event. If you have contacted a vendor and it is not listed here, there is 2 ways to solve this, either can renew his/her contract or pay $ 500 US fee for one time visit, please let me know if I can be of further assistant or you may have any question." Since they didn't specify that we couldn't use Doremixx I did reply and asked if I could pay the $500 for Doremixx or DJ Mannia. I also asked why $500 - I understand their should be some sort to fee to bring in an outside vendor but I'm not sure what the $500 is for??!! I asked them to send me the websites for the two DJ's they listed - I want to make sure I can get the same services as they had with Doremixx! I think it needs to be an even exchange!! Ya know? Of course I ended my email with how disappointing it was that Doremixx was no longer on their list - how all of us future brides are very saddened by the news! I'll let you know when I hear back!
  4. I couldn't agree more. I sent an email - and included the manager at the resort. I asked how/why would they take away such an asset to their Destination Weddings. I would be SO mad if I had them booked...I for sure would want for something in return for the inconvenience!!!!!!! That is awesome..we have to keep complaining..obviously something happened because we can't even pay for them to come in from the outside. We just have to keep emailing so they have no choice but to settle on an agreement!! It's terrible..I just can't believe they would take something away completely..not a good move. It has to be fixed!! We all know their is no way their DJ will be like Ivan!!!!!!!!!!!!
  5. Does anybody have a recent price list for the Hair Salon..and/or their contact? I have 8 BM's and would like to give them an idea of how much an updo is.. Thanks!!
  6. WOW...$2000 - $2500 is for two???!!! That is an AMAZING deal!!! What are your dates? Well...you are flying from California..so that's probably a short flight. We are flying from Michigan. So you did use Destination Weddings or you used Bookit? Did you work with a Travel Agent from Bookit? That is a GREAT deal... We were planning on using Apple Vacations through our Travel Agent - I'll have to watch both sites to see where the deals are!! Another Bride said their WC said the same thing about the Cocktail Hour. I can tell you I will be raising all hell if she told me it's what I can do and then is gonna tell me that I can't. I sent an email to her to see if she'll verify it on paper! Also..you can make a Website on The Knot.com - I've started ours there and it is very simple!!
  7. You are so welcome! I just love it..I think it's so fun, fresh..and different. Also...WAY less expensive!!
  8. Wow..that's high!! Those are per person???? Yikes! I would FOR SURE book the Master Suite..I've seen it - it's amazing. BUT - I believe if you book the Honeymoon Suite they will upgrade you to the next level - which is the Master Suite! I would double check with your WC but that is what I was told..
  9. ATTENTION ALL BRIDES... We should send an email to our WC's and the General Manager regarding the Doremixx news... Maybe if we swamp them with emails they'll rethink??!! It's worth a shot..right??????????
  10. You have to be JOKING???!!!! Is their a possibility this will change??? What the heck..I'm SO mad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHY WHY WHY...What can we do??????????????????????????
  11. I guess I would be careful how it's worded. You aren't looking for a "credit". Maybe try again and say...I realize it wouldn't be an even exchange - could I get 10 dinner's in exchange for the Cocktail Hour?
  12. I love it!! I'm only 49 posts away from being able to download your templates...I'm SO excited!! Do you have a template for your "Thinkgs To Know" letter? Thanks SO much for your WONDERFUL ideas!!
  13. Hi! If you look in their "Customized Wedding Service" menu under Decorations they have chair bows for $5. I guess it depends on how many guests you have...if you have 50 that's $250 in chair bows... Check out this website.. http://www.linentablecloth.com/ I know you don't want to pack more but I can't imagine it would take up too much room - they have chair sashes from $5.99 - $7.00 for 10!!! You could get 50 for $32!!! This site is wonderful..they also have table runners and overlays..napkins - just about anything!
  14. Check my post above - I explain how I've read their price sheet. Not sure if I'm reading it correctly... Maybe past brides can help???
  15. They are..but as stated before..only for 20. If you forgo the Cocktail Hour they will give you more dinner's - it won't be 20..but even if it's 10..that is less you have to pay for. The way I am reading their "Customized Wedding Services" it shows the extra dinner charge for Silver or Gold $48/person and states underneath it that it includes 3 hours of bar..Platinum is $55/person...so - I'm thinking if you buy extra dinners it includes three hours of bar for that person..?? Additional Bar is $15/person. I'm reading it like...if you decided to add an hour to your reception - 4 hours total - then you just pay the bar cost..$15/person. Not sure I'm reading it correctly though...
  16. BOOK NOW!!! I doubt they will go down...they just announced oil is going up again - which for us means higher airfare!!
  17. I would agree that March is getting a bit pricey because of Spring Break...especially college. This forum is the BEST THING EVER!! Just wait until you start exploring and find all the amazing DIY idea's and template's and pictures. It's the best site for us..just wonderful! I have researched a LOT of resorts..and also have visited a few. The Dreams packages are amazing - and the service is unreal. We just visited DRC and it is by far outstanding!!
  18. That is awesome! I did start to use them but I felt the TA was pushing for a Karisma Resort and I was totally turned off. Then we decided to use a friend's Father-In-Law..I'm still not very sold. I might email Apple Vacations directly and see what I can get from them - can't hurt!
  19. I've heard a lot of Brides do that - have their guests book their flights. I'm torn on which way to do it. Do you know if they got good deals?
  20. It was wonderful!! The resort is very nice! We also visited Secrets Silversands and Dreams Riviera Cancun..we actually decided to have our wedding at Dreams Riviera.. You will not be disappointed in NOW Sapphire..they were wonderful!! If I can give you future Brides some really random info...they technically cannot give straws out at the Swim Up Pool Bar..sometimes they would give them to us but they have a sign posted saying they are protecting the environment. Some of the other bars will give you a straw but you have to ask - we ended up taking a bunch from the coffee shop. If we were having our wedding there (I know it sounds silly) I would have added straws to my OOT Bags! It's hard to drink a frozen drink without a straw! Silly I know.. Also..if you have smokers - they don't have ash trays at the Swim Up Pool Bar either..they are pretty hard to find any where actually. Again - If we were having our wedding there I would have gotten a bulk pack of the cheap plastic ones and either added them to the "smokers" OOT Bags..or just brought a bunch with me to the pool and/or beach! So..their is some random info for ya! If you have any questions please..let me know!!
  21. $8000??? Are you serious??? I guess I don't understand what the extra cost is...how long was your reception? The packages include 3 hours..?? Is this normal for all brides??? YIKES!! I guess I don't understand why you're paying $2700 for a Package if in the end the total is 3x that! That seems crazy! Please fill me in - apparently I am missing something!
