  1. I waited until about five months out and asked my Miami contact for the WC in Cancun's name. She said no. And so I just asked again. And she sent it to me. I don't know how far out you are but I didnt have a problem
  2. My wedding is April 16th and I am planning on doing everything outside. We are having an evening wedding though so I am hoping it will be dark by the time the cocktail hour reception rolls around. I didn't want to do anything in a ballroom either. To me it defeats the purpose of going to Mexico and I don't want to decorate it. If it's in the 80s I don't think it would be too hot in the afternoon. I also live where it stays above 95 for most of the summer so the 80s sound perfect!
  3. I am sure it's user error (me) but I can't find this thread and would love to see it.
  4. Are those the chairs they provide? I'm trying to decide if chair covers are necessary?
  5. I want to come up with something too...just to make it more of our own. I don't know if we will end up doing it but it would be nice!
  6. I think with the symbolic one you can change as much as you want and have it be more religious. I think they keep the religious stuff out of the legal one. I remember reading on another thread with a girl that had a Catholic ceremony that they had to do the legal one first. I was hoping to do a least a scripture reading. Maybe I will just have someone randomly stand up and say one real fast during the ceremony
  7. I just asked my WC about the wedding script and how much you could change things. She told me that there is a new justice of the peace and the doesn't like the wedding service changed much. She said you can add your own vows and do a family reading (I don't have one I don't think) but that's about it. I had always been told you could change quite a bit so I was surprised you couldn't do much. Here is the script she sent me IN THIS BEAUTIFUL PARADISE OF CANCUN, MUNICIPALITY OF BENITO JUAREZ, STATE OF QUINTANA ROO, MEXICO, WE ARE GATHER TO CELEBRATE THE CIVIL MARRIAGE OF (NOVIO: NAME AND CITIZENSHIP) AND (NOVIA: NAME AND CITIZENSHIP), YOUR WITNESSES ARE (NAMES AND CITIZENSHIP) IN THIS ESPECIAL OCCASION YOU SHOULD RECALL THE MOMENTS WHEN YOU FIRST MET AND ALL THE EVENTS THAT MAKE YOU COME TO THIS PLACE AT THIS TIME. CONGRATULATIONS! AND YOU MAY KISS THE BRIDE!
  8. I think that when you do the rooftop terrace it's a little bit extra for set up. I have read reviews on here where they have cocktail hours there. I don't think a bar is included in the Tucan Terrace. I think if you have over 35 people it's considered a "private function" and you can't have them at a bar/restaurant. My WC told me I would have to do a ballroom or an outside terrace. I opted for a terrace because I think only one of the ballrooms has a lot of windows.
  9. I talked to my WC today and we reserved a terrace for the rehearsal dinner. It is at the Verando Terrace. If someone had pictures that would be great Also, she said I should go ahead and make an appointment for my hair. I was going to do a practice run when I get there Tuesday. I had a friend get married at beach palace and they didn't really get the "lose curls" concept and I just want to make sure we have it down. I just can't decide what time. Our ceremony is at 5. We are going to do "first see" photos and most all of the photos before hand.
  10. I guess I don't have to invite everyone to the rehearsal dinner. I just always thought we would. Thanks so much for the info!
  11. Did anyone do a private function for a welcome/ rehearsal dinner? We have over 35 guest so we are going to have to do a private event. I just wondered if you could still have one at the restaurants or if you have to do a private function in a ballroom or something.
  12. Less than 90 days!! Finally heard from the WC. Does anyone have suggestions on where to have a rehersal dinner? I have heard the restaurants at the golf course are nice but don't really see that as an option on the info they sent me. It says it only holds 10 people at the golf club house.
  13. I'm getting married in April. I am hoping to figure away out of the horse and buggy too. i know a lot of people like it but it's just not me. i would be laughing the whole time. i am hoping they can just take me in a golf cart of whatever close to the chapel and then i can walk it.
  14. The first time I talked to my Miami coord she told me someone would be in contact with me within 90 days of my date. I just sent an email back saying I didn't want to wait that long and wouldn't bug the on site contact much and she sent me on site coord's email. I forget her name off the top of my head but she responded quickly and sent me a menu without me asking. Maybe just ask Miami again??
  15. I think I am just going to have a friend I trust do it. I went to a wedding in Cabo and the couple did an ipod. the WC was going to announce everything but you could tell she was nervous so someone else stepped in. Just don't let that person get to drunk and dedicate bump and grind to the brides' grandparents. because that happened at my friends. We all thought it was funny...her...not so much.
  16. Can anyone post pictures of the Grand Terrace/Terrace mar? I dont see it on the list the WC sent me.
  17. I am having my wedding in April and went to a wedding in Cabo in September. I felt fine. I think the other places can get pricey if you want a lot of people there.
  18. I say you can pretty much wear whatever you want. The guys in the wedding are wearing sear sucker suits and i really want to find some wedges that match that. the only ones i can find so far though are louboutin and thats really just out of my price range!
  19. That is really cute! and this might be silly but what is AHR? I haven't really caught on to all these abbreviations
  20. I agree that it doesn't make sense that the other ceremony sites are booked....I was told they did one an hour or something like that.
  21. I think I have read somewhere that parts of Mexico only do symbolic ceremonies on Sundays so you might just want to double check.
  22. Ok actually there was a misunderstanding on my part lost in translation type thing in the email. I had first requested the chapel but nobody had told me that I could use it yet - I didn't think I could since it's during holy week. I had assumed I was booked for my second choice but it was actually the chapel. So I was kind of freaked out for a good hour until Claudia wrote me back. She must think I'm a real idiot now! I hope you get everything cleared up with yours.
  23. I am having the same thing happening to me now. My TA and I had discussed a time and location and now the WC there is saying that she doesn't have that information and that there is already a wedding there going on at that time. How is that possible?
  24. I just e-mailed the WC in Miami to try and reserve a reception location. She told me I had to wait until three months out. Do I just need to be persistent until I can talk to my on-site coordinator?
