I am concerned with getting her there safely, so I am not sure the best option....I know there's a Palace resort in Playa, but I doubt she would be able to ride the free shuttle to Moon since she is not a Palace guest. Any suggestions on this? I took a cab from the Mayan Rivera up to Playa del Carmen and it wasn't bad at all. Cab driver was nice and the car was clean. It was about $20 each way so I don't know how much it will be to take one from Playa del Carmen up to Cancun. Depending on where she is staying, I would have the resort or hotel call the cab as they probably know the better cab companies to go with.

TonyandTricia's Moon Palace Review 02-26-10
alison15 replied to TonyandTricia's topic in Destination Wedding Reviews
Wonderful review! Congratulations, everything looked beautiful. Just a question about your hair, I thought it looked great. I want to go with a similar style. However, how does your hair normally hold up in heat? I am kind of nervous, that my ideas of "beachy waves" will just fall flat. -
I am thinking of having My Girl by the Temptations. Love when the Stars Go Blue though. Ryan Adams has a great version of this too.

What are you walking down the Aisle to?
alison15 replied to reevesbride's topic in Wedding Music & Entertainment
I really love Hard to Concentrate by Red Hot Chili Peppers but not certain how or if to include it during the ceremony. I also like Besame Mucho, a slower version of it anyway. So maybe down the aisle to that? -

The purpose is two-fold: To make a comprehensive list of questions that you have asked, you need ask, you wish you would have asked...you get the idea. There are so many creative minds on this forum, I'd hate to go away thinking, "I should have asked about that," when I'm at the resort and it's obviously too late. The other reason is so that those of us who are still in the planning stages can just put all of our applicable questions on one email to the WC, instead of having a lot of back-and-forth messenging. Maybe getting the questions list all up front will free up some time for them, and they can respond to us much quicker. (It seems that a lot of us have experienced some level of frustration with some WCs being slothful about responding.) I am asking everyone to copy and paste their questions. I'm not sure if including the answers is a good idea, since things seem to change regularly. Additionally, many past brides have stated that when it came time to finalize the bill, the email dialogue between them and their WC saved some time and expense. I am posting this link on threads for MP 2008-2011 brides. Thanks for contributing! Here is the thread link: http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...estions-58154/ Thanks for starting this thread, it should really be helpful. Now just waiting to see the posts!

She told me that Mexican photographers weren't allowed because they have an exclusivity contract with one photography company. I am just wondering what people's thoughts are on the in house photos? Thanks! From what I understand, if you pay for a room for a photographer they are not consider an outside vendor but rather a guest and as a guest they can take photos just as other guests will be doing. However that does increase the cost of the photographer. In regards to the in house photographer, they are not bad, however, I wouldn't say they are really great. When you looks at the quality of photos from other photographers in the area, they seem to be much outstanding. Where as the house photographers just seem to be okay. This is just my opinion, as well as, I haven't seen all the photograhers work from MP, only 1 or 2. Having said this, I will still probably go with the MP photographers. It just gets to be too expensive after you add in the room and photography packages.

Personally I think a wedding at ASP is more of a vacation, I think by providing them the money that should be a gift enough. You may just want to write individual thank you notes so it helps keep it personal.

Best friend not coming, EXCUSES!

Some people have other situations that prevent them from coming as well. When I planned my wedding, I had every intention of keeping myself NOT stressed over who is coming and who isn't. But when you make excuses and not be straight up, thats when I am ready to get angry. Just be REAL with me.... My cousin and best friend was asked to be my MOH. She gladly accepted in the beginning. After a few months she first backed out of being MOH, then recently said she can't afford to come and its too expensive, but she would help contribute to the cost of my wedding dress (I guess to make herself feel better). At first I was really hurt, but I got over it. TODAY I log onto Facebook and GUESS WHO is going on a weekend cruise to the Bahamas? Yes, my very own broke cousin. She has ALWAYS been one to travel, finding various deals and such. So thats why I was initially bothered when she said she couldn't "afford" to come. This girl travels two, three, four times a year. I always told FI that if she goes ANYWHERE this year, I would be pissed. And here we are. I'm not sure how to confront her about it because I am very angry. I IMed her and asked "so you're going on a vacation?" She replies with a smile and says "yep going to Miami for the night and then weekend cruise to the Bahamas" WTF?!!! I couldn't even say anything. I don't want this to affect our relationship, but I feel it already has. How do I say something without coming off as selfish and a complete bitch? You also may want to look at it from a different point of view. Personally having been a BM in 7 different weddings over 5 years, it can be a bit annoying when any extra money you have and all your vacation time goes to being in weddings. Yes a destination wedding is a vacation too but it's not a very relaxing vacation when you have all the wedding stuff included. And as much as I love my family, I would never consider it a relaxing vacation if my family were all around me. I would need another week off to recover from that (j/k sort of). Depending on when you asked, she may have already had a deposit down on the cruise, or the cruise may be cheaper in the end. Just because they can afford it, it may not be the way the want to spend their money and vacation time, that always has to be a consideration when planning a destination wedding. -

I have been in contact with Wedding coordinator at Moon palace Cristina and she informs me that the wedding will not be legal. We have completed all the pre wedding classes at our church in the UK. Would it be possible for us to have a civil ceremony so that it is legal and then be blessed at the same time. It is very important to my partner and I that god is involved in our wedding" reply= Dear Clare, Greetings from "sunny Cancun". I spoke with Cristina and perhaps there was a confussion. Do not worry, you can be married here at the Immaculate Concption Chapel. The documents needed are: Baptism certificate (updatwd) Confirmation Certificate Pre-Cana course certificate A letter from your priest giving me permission to marry you outside your parish All the documents original, please Send me those documents and I will be glad to marry you. In Christ, so is it legal?? waiting for confirmation back, ll keep you posted! I am concerned with the portion of original documents for baptism and confirmation. Not only will they take a while to dig out, I don't know if I want to risk losing those. Hmmm...

The night before.....???

For those of you who are following the "he can't see me before the wedding" tradition, how are you navigating your time before the ceremony (getting dressed, pics, etc.)? My best friend is trying to tell me that my fiance and I shouldn't sleep in the same room the night before and I should do whatever it takes to build up to the big reveal. Seriously? I could really care less about traditions, I don't even care if he sees my dress. However, the plan so far is that we are not spending the night before together. I don't know if it is a good idea or not. I plan to hang with some of my friends and thought that might help me de-stress a bit, or it could cause the opposite. I think if I am stressed before the wedding, it may be even harder not seeing him or talking with him. But it will make me even more excited to see him when I walk down the aisle. I think I also am going to try to have a few minutes alone with him post wedding before dinner, without family, photographers, WC and others bothering us. -

It may also be possible to bring your own material and have your WC add it.

There are now 4 other weddings on my date (08-09-2010)! I just went to the website and checked the availability... There are weddings at 2, 3, 4, 5(me), and 6 now. Who are these other 4 people? LOL! I hope they join the forum! They have some new pictures of the collections up (well since the last time I have been to the site). I am getting nervous b/c the deadline to book with my contract is May 1st, and we still only have 7 rooms booked with the travel agent. :-( a lot of people booked elsewhere because she was offering them rooms with a view and they saw the prices for the garden/parking lot rooms on orbitz/expedia and booked there. I wish she had emphasized the cheaper rooms... make sure your TA's emphasize that! I need 3 more people to book so our contract is not void. FI claims that it is not a problem but I hate how people keep saying they are coming but then don't book!!! If you are coming just book what is the problem!!!!! One of my BM just called and said she isn't coming now b/c of money so now I do not believe anyone because she swore up and down she was coming. I know I am being rude but either book or don't book don't sell me these promises and get my hopes up! I hope we can get the deadline extended. Does anyone else have this probleM? I will be so mad if people book after because then we do not get the free reception, upgrade, and room nights! I checked and there is no way to combine the Catholic ceremony and civil. We are going to do Catholic there so we will actually be married before we leave. They will not even allow the Catholic ceremony without being legally married before. The up side is that it is easier to take care of the paper work at home for the legal ceremony. It is annoying when they wait until the last minute to let you know they cannot attend. When I asked my BM's I told them I completely understood if they could not attend due to cost or time commitment. Our wedding is six months away and we just had one GM back out. I also have one BM who seems to be avoid calls and not returning emails so I am counting on her backing out as well. I know it would be hard to tell a bride that they cannot afford it but it is much better than backing out at the last minute. I would check to see if you can get your booking to last longer. My TA is my future mother-in-law, she did a wedding at Aventura Spa Palace in Nov and was able to get some people booked at the TA rate into the group booking past the deadline. However she did recommend to us to put the deadline to book 1 month early for the people who drag their feet on booking.
