  1. LOL Jescman, yeah, I figured it would probably seat 20, 10 chairs on each side. K, cool, thanks! I think I will go with the gazebo.
  2. What??!! 150??!! No way! They must have built a new gazebo since I was there in 2007 Is that 150 guests sitting INSIDE the gazebo?!
  3. Yeah, it's just such a toss up...beach would be better setting, but want to rock the heels and maybe can establish a little more privacy in the gazebo. Does anyone know how many guests the gazebo can seat?
  4. I notice majority of you ladies are having your ceremony in the gazebo. I was always of the mind that mine would be on the beach, but now I am undecided. What was your reasoning for chosing the gazebo? Also, I'm a heels gal, 3" or higher please, but I don't know how anyone will manage that, especially for the reception!!!!
  5. Ladies, I've been trying to email Samuel Luna on his website but it keeps getting rejected saying "error". His email is not listed. Does anyone have his direct email?
  6. Hey girls, who has hired a photog? The obvious choices (according to this forum) seem to be Elizabeth Medina and Del Sol. Has anyone hired these two? Is anyone aware of their pricing - I would assume given their popularity, they are likely $$$. The costs seem to just keep adding up! Has anyone hired someone besides the two aforementioned that may be a little more reasonable in pricing, but still take creative/artistic photos other than the usual group shots?
  7. Thanks ladies for all the feed back re reception length. I think I will extend the time. I am thinking of hiring the lounge furniture from Cancun, and I think that is $2k, and then the DJ with the floor is god knows how much more, so I will likely extend it to make it worth the the $$ spent. Also, since Playa has become such a "hot spot" lately, I heard that Blue Parrot and Congo Bongo is outrageous in their cover fee - supposedly $50!! I remember reading that it someone's post. Although, I think I would speak to the manager on shift that night and explain that the size of the party and the alcohol bought would more than enough cover any type of entrace fee they were planning on making that night, lol! I just have to vent and express how irritated I am. We visited Royal Playa in 2007 and at that time had decided on destination wedding. The following year we casually inquired about pricing. Albiet, that was two years ago, I am still flabbergasted at the inflatation of prices. $350 vendor fee??!! Come on, seriously! The price of photographers and DJ's are almost more than I'm paying for our wedding in Vancouver. I still haven't heard back from the US office re my date for the wedding. I see that it is also still available to select on the website!!! F$#%!$!$#$!
  8. does anyone know how much extra it costs to extend the reception and what is the max time we can extend it to. I have the Luxury package and want to extend the reception to 4 hours. Or, can we push back the start time of the reception? It just seems pretty retarded that my reception will be ending at 9:00 p.m.! Also, has anyone gone with paying extra for the resort's centerpieces? I really can't be bothered to lug candles, etc down with me - the added weight to the luggage is something that I don't want to deal with (likely cause I won't have any weight allowance left, lol)
  9. Do you have any photos of Turtle Bay's lounge set up? I went to their website but was unable to find any photos of the lounge set up. I want to see how they compare to another company I found which is a lot more pricier
  10. Thanks for all the replies! Jescman, how are you in direct contact with Zulma of the resort? I thought that you had to deal with the Michigan office until one month prior to your wedding? I have to also pay the $350 for outside vendor fee. The cost is ridic! It's limiting me on hiring an additional florist, etc! Just with lounge set up and photographer, it will be an additional $700 down the drain! When did everyone hire their DJ, photographer, etc? Should I book the DJ now? Do I have to let the WC know this now? Re Centerpieces. What did you all do? Are you using the Royal's choices? I cannot be bothered packing stuff and bringing it down with me. I am ALWAYS either right on the mark or overweight with luggage so I know I will not have the room! I was thinking of not really communciating with the Michigan WC since they seem to cause more stress than anything. Do you think it's wise to leave everything until I get to the resort and meet with the resort WC? aagghhhhh!!!!!
  11. Thanks everyone for the information! I think I may stick with the Luxury package, it seems that I'll be paying more if I go a la carte. I thought Ivan Gomez was with Dorremixx?
  12. Hello Ladies, This is my first post. It has taken me almost a month, but I think I have finally read through all the posts! I wanted to make sure I did not ask questions that may have already been answered several times, lol. This forum, and the ladies on it, have been so helpful! I initially wanted to do a DW so I would not have to plan anything, doesn't seem to be the case! My FI and I are from different religious backgrounds so we are having a religious cermony of three hundred guests in Vancouver, and aprox 35-50 guests in Playa. I went from not wanting to plan a wedding to having to plan two weddings! To add to that, we too have had to change our wedding date from April 2011 to Nov 2010 due to price difference for our guests. I'm sure you can imagine that mad scramble I'm going through now trying to plan two weddings in seven months! I have stayed at the Royal before so am familiar with ground layout, etc. Some of the questions I do have: 1. Re lounge furniture - I saw a post that mentioned that they used the Royal's for $250-300. I was initially going to rent mine from another outfit that charged aprox $2000 (used by several other posters). Can someone give me more info about the Royal's lounge furniture and how it compares. 2. Re DJ - does the Royal use DJ Doremixx? If so, is it cheaper to book him privately, even while paying the $350 vendor fee 3. I have not received any communication from an WCs. Everything was booked through a travel agent. Is this normal? 4. I'm in the same boat as many other ladies - the Luxury Package is what I initially was going to go for, but there are alot of services - mani/pedi, hair/makeup, photo, etc, that I will not use - are we still able to book a four course private reception? Lastly, I have not posted enough to open the attachments. Can someone be kind enough to email the wedding and price checklist, and this cake list that everyone is talking about, lol. [email protected] Thanks a bunch ladies!
  13. Hi everyone This site is fantastic! My wedding is sometime in Feb/March 2011 and will be held at the Royal Playa del Carmen. My fiance and I are of different religious backgrounds and are having two weddings. I wanted a destination wedding so I would not have to think about anything re planning the wedding since I'll already be planning a wedding in Vancouver. Doesn't seem to be the case though, lol!
