Ladies I know how you feel. My fiance pressured me into having his sister as a bridesmaid. I wanted to just have her do a reading or be part of the wedding in a different way and he fought me on it. I gave in to end the discussion, but now I wish I would have stuck to my gun. She was very excited when I asked her but hasn't been involved since and flat out told me she doesn't like the color I picked out for BM dresses and suggested a color that she would look better in. She's also a bit older than me and my 2 other friends in the wedding, she's 35 we're 26-28 and it just doens't seem to be working out. It's too late now, unless she backs out haha.

Staying together the night before wedding?
ChicagoBride2011 replied to hanna's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
We're going to stay in the same room. We might get massages or something that morning and our ceremony isn't until 6pm. If it was a morning or early afternoon ceremony then maybe but it would be too hard to try and not run into each other all day. -
Uneven Bridal Party
ChicagoBride2011 replied to saraece's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
I have 3 girls and he has 2 guys. He MADE me ask his sister to be in the wedding and now we're uneven. I was thinking of having the girls just walk down the aisle by themselves. -
Hello, I LOVE The Royal PDC and I'm getting married there May 1, 2011. It's definitly not quiet and serene like the other resorts that are along the main road/highway. We picked this resort because of location, we didn't want our guests to be bored or have to take a cab anywhere. We also enjoyed walking into town every night after dinner and going into the shops. We really enjoyed the little town and knowing it's only a block away.

I cannot tell you how excited I am for all the weddings coming up in the next week! Good luck to all and enjoy YOUR day! BTW- I bought my wedding dress today! Ended up going with Maggie Sottero RD1044. The bridal shop tracked down a sample for me and I went this morning to try it. I honestly thought I was going to hate it in person and it was the type of dress that only looks good on the model and so did my bridesmaids but luckily we were wrong.

Beach Wedding pics and ideas
ChicagoBride2011 replied to CamLovesJA's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
Love these arches! Beautiful! -
HI, not sure if anyone has answered this for you. I'm still making my way throught the recent posts. There are 3 different beach areas used for receptions. One is located behind the Gazebo, one is in the middle and the 3rd is Pelicanos. Pelicanos is the biggest area and I believe the middle is the smallest. We chose Pelicanos but they are all great. Here are some pics from my site visit (hopefully they show up). I also have pics of the lobby, pool, and our room. I'd be happy to post for you but didn't want to flood the forum with too many pics, haha. Gazebo/Garden: Central Beach (middle section): Pelicanos Beach:

Corsets are AMAZING!!! Whoahhh 6' 6" get those stillettos ready, haha. Your wedding is next month already?!?! Wow, it's so close, how exciting! I definitly don't want the red aisle runner. I'm going to ask them to remove it and just have flower petals sprinkled. I looked at ordering one of those custom monogrammed aisle runners and brining or shipping it down, but I decided not to. It wasn't worth the money to me.

The first one is taffeta. I tried it on after a few satin dresses and it was much lighter, but definitly not airy. Some of those dresses were so heavy! I'm always hot to begin with so add a heavy dress and I'll be a sweaty mess, haha. Still waiting to hear back from bridal store about getting the sample of number 2 in. Thanks for all the words of wisdom ladies, you rock!

Hi ladies thanks for all the Maggie advice! My wedding is in the Gazebo and Reception on beach. And YES, those corsets work wonders! I was amazed at how tiny my waist looked. PrettyPig thanks was my concern with the 2nd one. I was afraid it would look frumpy on me. I'm 5' 4' and curvy, and I was thinking that dress would be better for a tall skinny frame. If the store can't get a sample I'm going to take it as "it wasn't meant to be." The Brianna looked awesome, so if any of you curvy girls are looking for a dress definitly try this one on! BTW the bridal store I went to was awesone, it was such a pleasant experience. If any of you Chicago area brides are still looking I highly recommend.

Hey ladies I think I finally found my dress! Yippee, it's Maggie Sottero Brianna. (I would have never thought to try it on, complete opposite of what I was looking for) http://www.maggiesottero.com/dress.aspx?keywordText=brianna&keywordType=any&page=0&pageSize=15&style=A3398 The only reason why I didn't pull the trigger and buy it is because I've been eyeing Maggie RD1044, and the store didn't have a sample. They are going to try and get one for me, and will call me this week. Has anyone tried this dress on? or has seen it in person? http://www.maggiesottero.com/dress.aspx?line=d&page=1&style=RD1044

During our initial planning we went back and forth with this. We were either going to invite ALL our guests to Mexico and not do a AHR or invite a group of 20-30 to Mexico and then do a casual get together at a bar/restaurant here. We looked at a few places and said "f" this! It would have cost just as much as doing our wedding here. So we invited all 250 people to Mexico and decided not to do anything here. We have 38 booked right now, and think we'll end up with 50-60. The fiances cousin did a DW in Mexico a little over a year ago and ended up with 120!

I tasted the chicken (minus the seafood) during our site visit and it was good. Everything we tasted was good! The only thing I didn't like was the duck salad...but then again I've never eaten duck before so I'm no expert. We are going with the 3 lettuce salad, the filet, and the canoli's. YUM! I'd like to give my guests a choice but I was told no, IF I get them to change their mind then I'll do chicken and filet.

Is anyone out there planning a wedding at La Amada in Playa Mujeres?
ChicagoBride2011 replied to jfuller's topic in Newbies!!
I fell in love with this hotel! We were having major communication issues with them during our deciding process so decide to pass. Good luck with your planning! -
