Lot's of May weddings coming up! Mine is May 1 and I really can't believe how fast time is flying, we leave in 45 days!! I still have some lose ends to finish up as well... waiting to hear back from Marvin about bouquets, need to decide on centerpieces, and need to write ceremony! I'm going to send my checklist over to my WC tonight, any tips for those of who have done this already?

Sooo I went for my first dress fitting today for my Maggie RD1044. When I purchased the dress it was hard to find real brides in this dress so I thought I'd share a pic for others considering this dress. Many people have the misconception that you can't be curvy or bigger to wear this and I think that's untrue. It needs to be taken in a bit and I need to get a different bra for underneath since you can see this one through the dress. Well here she is:

They don't do a rehearsal, you just meet with your WC after you get there to go over things etc. If you wanted to hold your own rehearsal then you would need to do a semi private or private dinner for your guests. If you are having a semi private or private event at The Royal then your guests should not be charged for day passes. You just pay their per person price for the meal. If your wedding is at The Royal then guests not staying there will be allowed on property 30 min before ceremony.

Wow this is crazy! I was told before that if they were a guest of a Real resort there would be no vendor fee. I truly do not understand the outside vendor fee. It's just extra money in the Royal's pocket for no reason. Like you said we and our guests are giving the hotel thousands of dollars. I'm doing my best to get around this and have not mentioned the names of my vendors to WC. It seems the onsite coordinators are more lenient with the rules and fees so I'm hoping once I get down there I won't be charged. Another idea I had was just buying them day passes, it may work out cheaper. Did any past brides get away with this?

Question for you past brides who had outside vendors for photographer/videographer... My WC said that I have to pay the vendor fee plus the cost of non-resort guest for their meal at reception. That seems absolutley ridiculous to me and I'm super irritated! (I would be paying close to $500 extra for each vendor) =( Past brides is this what you encountered? Were any brides able to get away with buying day passes for vendors? Any input will help, thanks ladies! Only 7.5 weeks until I leave.

Unfortunately they are close, and yes there is a possibility of numerous wedding's going on at one time. The Royal says they plan around others so one's activities don't interfere with others. This might be a good question for past brides. I know I asked before and I was told Thurs- Sat are the busiest wedding days there.

There is the beach behind the Gazebo, the Central Beach and Pelicano's beach. Pelicano's beach is the closest to the pier and is behind Pelicano's restaurant. Pelicano's is the largest area , they are all great but I would say that the area behind the gazebo or Pelicano's would be the best. Hope this helps!

Yeh!!! I can see them now! So beautiful, everything looked great! Thanks for sharing! Mine told me the same thing however I'm going to try and smuggle Fernando in without paying it, hehe. It seems the on site coordinators are a little bit more flexible with things. The WC we are dealing with now I think are following a "script" when they are answering our questions. That's the impression I get anyways... Yeah my WC sent me updated prices too and ummm I didn't even glance at them, I'm paying what I was originally told, that's what we budgeted for etc. I didn't even acknowledge the email and will be using all the original pricing we were sent. I'm not letting it be an option. I was quite annoyed they even sent me it. This site is great, ask away. I am having my reception on Pelicano's beach too! We were originally going to do this however as soon as we sent the contact info out we were assigned a new WC and we are now on our 3rd. I was afraid that people's reservations etc would get messed up with the turn over. I have to sayy they have really gotten their act together the past few months though. They are much more organized and seem to have a better system of doing things...

My wedding is May 1 and my TA also contacted me last week to let me know that Fri and Sat are almost sold out except for the higher category rooms. I just looked at Fri and Sat are completely sold out, all room categories!!! The Gran Porto is also sold out for Friday night!! I'm going to go cry now...

Hi Speedy, when is your wedding day? I just mailed my invites too?..Maybe we'll be there the same time. I would say the two best locations would be the lobby or the Tequila/Cigar bar. The Tequila/Cigar bar is outside the lobby (down the steps) it was our favorite spot to sit after dinner for a couple drinks. It does fill up though. The lobby has LOTS of seating too, but I saw that completely full on some nights. If it's early you'd have no problem getting some seats/tables at either location. Asiana has a nice little bar if you have a small group. The bartenders were great there and very friendly. Here's some pics to give you an idea: Tequila/Cigar (outside bar) LOBBY: ASIANA:

Has anybody used or is planning on using EW Cancun for outside stuff such as chairs, lounge, etc? They have been really helpful and responsive. They said that they are in the process of becoming a in house vendor, and that The Royal has agreeed to a $150 vendor fee for them instead of $350 becuase they do a lot of weddng there. Anyone else heard of this?
