I did a tasting on my site visit, I don't think they allow you to do it when you get there. I'm not sure what's on the website currently but when we did hte tasting everything was delicous and everything was great the day of the wedding too. You really can't go wrong. There are 2 nicer restaurants at the Gran Porto one is mexican and the other Italian. We ate at the mexican restaurant during our site visit and was not impressed, we tried to eat at the Italian during our site visit and our wedding and there was always a very long wait. A couple of out guests also tried to go there and ended up leaving because of the wait . The long tables is something I knew I wanted so I just made sure before going down there that the long tables were available and then went over it with my onsite coordinator when I got there. The one thing with doing the set-up like this is that you need more centerpieces. For instance we had 48 guests so could have gotten away with 8 round tables/8 centerpieces but since we did it that way I needed 14 lanterns and 12 centerpieces so it definitly costs more to do it this way.

I got the chairs from an outside vendor, EW Cancun. I also got my lounge furniture and lanterns from them so the outside vendor fee was worth it. The chairs were much cheaper through them even with the vendor fee and I specifically wanted the dark brown with white cushions, I'm not sure if The Royal has color options for the chivari/tiffany chairs. I know they have white and they quoted me $10 a chair, EW Cancun was MUCH cheaper than that. Mediamorfosis is NOT cheap, and you need to book them a room for the night of the wedding. I came across their videos when we first got engaged and I knew I had to have them. My fiance fought me on it and I ended up booking them behind his back. He had no idea until the morning of the wedding, hehe. He thanked me after the wedding for booking them though, and said he was regretting not getting a videographer. I was so worried to tell him, whewwww!

Thank You. Yes, I definitly went out of the box, I wanted the wedding to reflect me and what I really wanted. I didn't want to settle for the standard, it was stressful since I didn't know how it was all going to come together but I'm so glad I did it! When I sat down at the reception I almost cried it was such a happy feeling to see all my ideas come together. The flowers on the gazebo and the rose petals I got through the resort. The chairs, lounge furniture, and lanterns I got from EW Cancun.

Hi ladies, I'm working on my review, I'm thinking I'll wait until I get my professional pics to post it. But if anyone has any questions feel free to PM me, I'd be happy to help. All my vendors were GREAT! Fernando with Makeup Pros, Raffaele w/EW Cancan, Marvin w/ Maya Diseno (sp?), Dorremixx, Vincent from Del Sol, Mediamorfosis.... If you are using any of these venors you have nothing to worry about! Here are a couple pics for now that my guests took: CEREMONY RECEPTION

I would suggest not to check it. I carried mine on the plane with me. We flew AA direct from Chicago to Cancun. Before we boarded we asked if we could board with the first/priority group so I could place my dress in the overhead before everyone else got on the place and they rudely said "a wedding dress is not a priority NO" Thanks AA, ha! However when we boarded there was this pleaseant and bubbly flight attended and asked if that was my wedding dress etc and offered to hang it in the Captains closet for me. It was a very small cramped closet and the bottom of my dress needed to be folded up but it did the trick. My dress was a little wrinkled but it was chiffon so the wrinkles came out without it being steamed. I brought a hand steamer with me and I ended up not using it. Also, my bridesmaids dresses were wrinkled too but by the day of the wedding the wrinkles fell out of those as well not sure what the material of those were but they were thicker.

Woman can wear whatever they want, it's actaully quite annoying....we saw women wearing baggy t-shirts and short with beat up sandals and nothing was said yet guys in jeans and button-on up shirts and nice leather sandals were being turned away and told to put closed toed toes on. The guys went and put gym shoes on, which looks way more casual and less formal than the nice leather sandals they originally had on and were let it. It was pretty funny.

Hi ladies so I leave tomorrow morning, 8am flight!!!! I'll come on as soon as I get back to let you all know how everything went! I'm going crazy but hoping that everything falls into place I keep thinking to myself just breath... I just went to do the online check in and they have us down for the wrong room so emailed my TA and just hoping this gets worked out. We spent A LOT of money and booked our room over 6 months ago so The Royal will be hearing from me BIG time if they don't get this straightened out. Granted it's an upgrade on the room but we wanted oceanfront and the upgraded room is oceanview. No thanks. Thanks for all the helpful advice this forum was a life saver!

Thanks Suzy! I too paid for an extra hour for the reception so I'll have to make that clear when I meet with my WC next Thurs. I have a song that I want played at the ceremony when I walk down the aisle. They said there is a ipod hook-up there...But my question is who will press "play" for us? Is that something the officiant or WC does?

I leave in 13 days! Ehhhhh! I was assigned Michel a couple weeks ago as my onsite coordinator, I've exchanged a couple emails with her and she's been fast and helpful. I was a little hesitant at first since Zulma was suppose to be our coordinator and we met with her during our site visit but I decided to let it go and pick my battles, lol.

Ok, I take back what I said about Marvin. I got my contact and he said we're all confirmed. My bouquet inspiration was from a past Royal bride. I asked that yellow be added since the girls are wearing yellow. I wanted a fun, colorful bouquet. These are the pics he sent my of my bouquet and he will be making smaller versions for my bridesmaids:

I just made my FINAL payment this week throught the website, as far as I know no problems. My WC said i could do the payment through the website or by calling her. If the website isn't working I would call and do it over the phone so a copy of your cc info isn't laying around. I've been sooooo sick the past couple of days, 103 fever etc it's really putting a damper on my wedding planning and I have so much to do. We leave in 31 days, seems so surreal!

Hi ladies me AGAIN! I feel like I've been on here a lot this week... Has anyone worked with Michel Madrid as their onsite coordinator or is currently in communication with her? Zulma was suppose to be our onsite coordinator, that's who we met with during our site visit and we were in communication with her at the beginning of our planning. I found out today that it's now Michel. I'm not sure the reasoning and didn't get a straight answer. I'm wonder if I should fight this or if Michel is just as great as Zulma. Any feedback would be great!
