Thanks again for the advice especially about the rain/ballroom thats my biggest concern. Just as you said i did not go through planning a destination wedding in mexico just to end up in a stuffy ballroom with little to no decorations! its great to know there are other options! Thanks Chrissy! Thats great to know! For anyone who's planning or has gotten married on the beach... was the bamboo arch included in the package?? if so which package did you get? Id like to use the bamboo arch and bring my own fabric for draping but am not sure if the arch is included or is an additional cost. Thanks! Shannon

We will most likely be flying Virgin and I'm not sure what to do with my dress. Its not a huge ballgown but definitely has some volume! Did you have any problems with this? Thanks again!

Hey Micaela!! I'm in a similar boat as you.. expecting around 100 guests at our wedding next June. We went with DRC (Dreams Riviera Cancun) they say that their capacity is 100 people but that was larger than a lot of the other hotels in the Cancun/Riviera Maya area! I thought destination weddings were supposed to be small too haha though an at home wedding for us would've been close to 500 guests so I guess by doing a destination wedding we are having a smaller wedding! Anyways so far dreams riviera cancun has been great in helping us plan/organize the wedding thus far, id highly recommend them!

Thanks for your help everyone! We decided to go with dreams riviera and are currently not using a group rate. Dreams is offering a great rate for june 2012 right now so our guests are currently just booking on their own. If the rates increase we may reconsider a group rate though!!

Lauren you looked stunning! Gorgeous wedding and thank you so much for the review. I always feel so reassured in my decision on DRC after reading reviews! Chante - Im having the same problem with Ana right now. Though they seem to be very slow with emails in general. Sometimes its taken 2 weeks or so before I receive a reply. Im sure she will get back to you they are most likely just very busy right now. I'll let you know if I hear back from her.

Hey Everyone, Being a very fair skinned gal Im trying to figure out how to give my body a nice glow before stepping into that white dress. Problem is I dont want to tan in the states before going down, as it will be mostly faded by the time the wedding comes around (not to mention Id have to avoid the sand/pool). Has anyone heard of any airbrush/spray tan facilities in the cancun area either in a hotel or something easy??? Anyone ever used a company down there??? Any help would be greatly appreciated! @Soon2bMrsLozada.. I finally heard back from Ana and got my questions in regards to outside vendors answered! Yay! It turns out that as of now DRC does not have an "official" policy on outside vendors but they are slowly moving towards an approved vendor list and are in the process of setting that up. It was a pain but i was finally able to get approval to use a photographer of my choosing . Im not sure if the same rules will apply to florists but I would start speaking with your coordinator about it now and see if you cant get it in writing that you can choose your own florist without added fees. I definitely wouldn't wait to get the approval to do so, as it seems like its only going to get harder! @Lcranley... Thank you so much for your wonderful review! You looked stunning! Just wanted to give a heads up to any new brides planning their weddings at DRC. I was just told that DRC is requiring all outside vendors to sign a contract and agree to release a % of their pay to the resort for each wedding they are contracted for at DRC. I'm devastated about this as I was really hoping to use an outside photographer for my wedding. I've been trying to get a response from Ana in regards to this new outside vendor policy but she has been avoiding the question. I'm going to try and call her this afternoon to get an official in writing response. Just wanted to give everyone a heads up. Has anyone else had problems with this recently??? Thanks!

Hi everyone! I just booked my fiance and my date at DRC (June 9 2012) and am currently speaking to Ana about outside photographers. I have my heart set on using Elizabeth Median . Ana seems to never address my question in her emails and im nervous with all of the discussion in this board about DRC not allowing outside photographers. I've been trying to get it in writing that I could have one. Does anyone know what the DRC policy is on this?? it seems like a lot of people have used outside photographers on this board. Has anyone whose recently had their wedding been able to??? Thanks!

Hi everyone!! I've been lurking on this board for a few months now, my fiance and I are currently planning a June 2012 wedding at dreams riviera. Right now we are in the process of negotiating a group booking rate and i wanted to know if anyone else went through this route. Currently the group rate we are being quoted is almost double the best rate online. Has anyone else had this problem?!?! I dont see the point in booking as a group if they wont lower the prices to the current best rate! Thanks for the help everyone!

Trying to book a group rate for our June 2012 wedding and were being quoted almost twice as much as the best rate currently offered for our dates on the internet!!!! Hi All! My fiance and I are currently trying to decide between Dreams Riviera Cancun and Barcelo Maya Palace for our June 2012 wedding and I was hoping to get any opinions from those of you who may have been/visited/gotten married at either of these resorts. Were looking for a beach ceremony with a private reception (either in a restaurant or on the beach) for about 100 people. Our main concerns are cost of the hotel rooms and the comfort of our guests. Right now were leaning towards Dreams but they have quoted us at 400/room a night based on double occupancy, whereas Barcelo has quoted us 266/room a night based on double occupancy. Do these room quotes seem right?? Is Dreams really that much more per night and is it worth it?!?!?! I was just shocked that Dreams wanted so much more /night and I'm wondering if I read the quote incorrectly for either of these hotels... for those of you doing group rates at either Dreams or Barcelo is this around the rate you received???
