  1. Hey Murmel...your pictures are great!! I am really happy that things worked out and you liked your experience with Erin and Renaissance...I just thought they were amazing to work with. I'm sure he absolutely LOVE them!
  2. Hey - I agree with the ladies - the sooner the better. Depending on what salon you are going to and who the designer will be will determine time. Generally I've heard about 6/7 months and then up to 2 months for fittings (depending on how much you get altered). There will always be new dresses coming out, but once you find the perfect dress you won't care what else is coming out because you'll be so happy you found something. But my word of advice is one you pick a dress, stop looking. Have fun!!
  3. oh good call with your FI's clothes! I'll have to do that same. The restrictions they place on the Montego Bay flights are a bit ridiculous. The Westjet agent I talked to was really nice and she said that usually the flights are always at capacity and because of the amount of weddings generally most people are bring the max amount of baggage allowed. So hopefully bags don't get misplaced or all we'll have to wear is our wedding dress to wear!
  4. Now I am confused. I called WestJet directly and the representative said that from flights from Toronto to Montego Bay and return only allow 2 checked bags per guest and 1 carry on bag per guest with absolutely no exception made for additional bags, even if you are willing to pay an additional fee. So if you bring your wedding dress on the plane that would be your one carry-on and everything else would have to be checked.
  5. Has anyone gotten pricing from Floral Fantasy in 2010? Â I requested the price from my WC for the "Exquisite" bouquet and was quoted $275US. I thought that was pretty high considering when the prices were posted before it was only $180 US. Â I just emailed Floral Fantasy so just waiting to hear back...
  6. Congratulations and welcome to the board! Â Originally we were thinking of Mexico because we have been there and really enjoyed it and you get some pretty decent pricing. However, when we started looking at all the requirements for getting married in Mexico it really put me off. Many brides chose to get married at home (to avoid all the legal issues) and then just have a symbolic ceremony in Mexico or wherever their destination may be. I really did not like this idea as I want to say "I do" only once so we chose Jamaica because it didn't require blood work or any translations. Â There are lots of beautiful places in Jamaica and depending on what you are looking for I am sure you will find a place that suits your needs. We do not have any children coming and really love the beauty of Negril's beaches so we have booked at Couples Swept Away in Negril and I can't be happier with my choice. Â Good luck and happy planning
  7. What was the answer to whether your father's names to be on the birth certificate? Ours don't either, but we want to have our legal ceremony in Jamaica. Â
  8. I wrestled with this for awhile. Originally I wanted to do a later in the afternoon ceremony (3 or 4pm) as I thought it would have a better "flow" into the evening, but after talking to others and our photographer I decided to switch the wedding until 11am. Since we are getting married on the beach and pictures by the ocean are important to us, the photographer said that the colour of the ocean is more vivid in the earlier part of the day, plus there is less likely a chance it will rain at that time (although who knows with the weather!). Â I managed to include a reception and catamaran cruise ride during the day for my guests followed by dinner. Â But at the end of the day it really is all about personal preference.
  9. I popped into the TD Canada Trust that is the main branch in downtown Toronto and they said they no longer offer notary services. They can sign off on authentic documents, but unfortunately, that is not what we need.
  10. Thanks Cindy I was really happy with the way they turned out...a little nerve racking at first!
  11. No prob. If you want to save some money you can forego the disc (which I believe is $100) and when they give you access to the online gallery you could just click and save from there.
  12. Hey...I found their prices to be reasonable compared to a few others I found in Toronto. I believe I paid $475 which included hair and make up, pictures and a edited copyright free disc. Â Here are a few pics to give you an idea of their work....let me know if you have any other questions!
  13. Thanks Cindy! I think my fiance knows of a few lawyers who can hopefully help us out when we get to that stage.
  14. Congratulations! You look beautiful and it looked like an amazing day.
  15. I haven't actually gotten that far but I was wondering where do you have to go for this sort of thing? I wasn't even sure who was acceptable to sign these documents.
  16. Hi ladies...I know there are a lot of you from the States and just wanted to help out any fellow Canadian brides if they are looking for a photographer for a boudoir shoot for their man. Â I had my pictures with Renaissance Studios and I would HIGHLY recommend them if you are in the GTA. Everyone in the studio is super nice, very professional and all very talented. I looked at a few places and found them to be the best priced as well as I know some of the studios can get really pricey.
  17. We are just in the process of booking our package but it seems like every package I've come across has Westjet as the airline. I'd be really interested to hear what you guys have to say about what you are able to bring when you go! Â I'll keep my fingers crossed you can acttualy bring 2 bags!!
  18. Originially we were going to go with red and turquoise, but I am not a huge fan of red and didn't want to carry red flowers or anything like that so we are not going with turquoise and coral. My FI didn't care either so I harassed some of my girlfriends for their opinions and I think it will look really beachy! Â I don't know if you have checked this out or not, but if you go on The Dessy Group's website one of the tabs sends you to Panatone colours and they have all these inspiration boards - I found it really helpful and you see how colours you would never think of go together!
