Are you paying for your bridesmaids dresses?
Lindslou replied to jawedding's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
I just bought my 3 BM dresses. $95 each if they need alterations they will look after it. I agree with other girls that since they are paying to come then I would like to pay for this. My FI and I made sure that we had room for it in our budget first. I know it is not expected. My MOH and I are still arguing about it but I know I will win -

I'm only putting it down for the required 10 people. My logic is that if peeps wanna wait forevs to book, its their issue to find a good rate - not mine! Hey Breeze616 I initially started out with Laurie too then went to Richele and now I'm working with Tara. I think Laurie does the research and then hands your file to a group manager. She was fantastic, all the girls I have delt with have been great!!! I have to say good for you for putting your foot down. I've been going through a tuff time. On my invites (sent out in March) we asked our guests to RSVP by June 30 and strongly suggested that they put a deposit down since the prices are not guaranteed. We have not heard back from about 80%!!!! I'm not happy.... I understand that it's summer and people are not thinking about winter vacations now that summer has started but most of our guests have recently gotten married and we have not heard from them. You would think they would know how important RSVPing is. My FI and I would like to get our budget figured out so we know how much $$$ we will need between now and the wedding. So frustrating!!!! So that is my complaining for the day, gonna go sit on the patio and have a cool bevi. Hope everyone has a great weekend!!!

I have to say it was the only dress I tried on that looked like it had a lace up when it didn't. I wanted the piece of mind not knowing what would happen to my body in the heat plus I love to be able to make it super tight then let it out for dinner so mine is being made with a lace up. Had to pay a bit extra but I think it's less then getting it done after. Good luck and I hope you can find your dress!!! -
Hey Christina We are travelling with Air Canada. We had to put down a minimum of 10 deposits ($150) to get the group rate. However, we paid for 12, they have all been filled. those that have booked after are still getting the same rate but it is not guaranteed. Natalie, the 29th sounds great, looking forward to it

I guess I had always hoped that my mom would get that, and would really step up to the plate to make this time special for me, especially since my dad is not here to share in it. Getting the dress was definitely something important that I looked forward to sharing with her. She has gone dress shopping with me, but I have basically had to force her into it. She's just not enthusiastic about it, and while she tries to be supportive, she has not had any sort of emotional reaction to seeing me in a wedding dress. For me, it was really disappointing. That being said, I think she is just not a wedding person. Anyways, she did really like the dress I ended up choosing and I too was kind of hoping that she would buy it for me, but nope. It's not because I wanted her to give me money, but just that it would be a really special gift from her to me. It really and truly is not about the money, and this might sound dumb, but I just want her to WANT to do something special for me. I want her to care that I'm getting married! I'm hoping that maybe she will surprise me and buy my veil or something, but I feel kind of doubtful. Anyways, again, sorry you are going through this. My mom didn't buy my dress either. And I totally get that it's not about the cost of the dress being covered, it's about what your mom buying your dress would have meant to you. It's so hard planning a wedding without your dad, and even harder when your mom doesn't quite live up to your expectations. I really hope she surprises you by doing something else before your big day! Thank you so much for understanding!!!!! -
Memorial for our Fathers

Hi Ladies I too lost my father 2 years ago. I'm hoping my mom will walk me down the aisle if not I will go alone. Love the idea of placing a corsage on a chair for the ceremony. Since my dad passed away the last 2 Christmas's we have always lit a candle during dinner for him and I plan on buying a special candle to light during the dinner/reception. Good luck girls, it sure is hard but I know my dad will be there and so will yours!!! -
Hey thanks. I didn't even go into Jacob, I have a weakness in that store. I will go look forsure.

Did you look at Winners on 130th. I swear I saw that dress there. I was there a couple weeks ago and wanted to go back to get one for me and I know it was Calvin Klein. Is it not available at Overstock? Thanks for the info on that site, I have a feeling that I might be shopping on line too cause I'm not finding anything in the stores either.

Who paid for your dress

I think my post has been misunderstood by some. I'm not expecting my mom to hand over $$$ just becasue I am getting married. It's the sentimental value. Yes she mentioned before that she would by my dress so I am a little confused. I don't expect anything!!!! I know that this is our wedding and yes we are financial very ok to pay for it all so nothing will change that. I am expecting nothing and if anything does happen than great -

Thanks girls!!! It is a tuff spot, part of me feels bad cause my FI parents have helped us out so much. I should talk to her but I don't want her to feel that by me bringing it up she has to help out. I am also glad that I did buy my dress, my mom was not sure about the TTD so this way it is my purchase. Guess I will sit back and see what happens, no matter what we will have a wonderful wedding !!! -
Hey girls This past weekend I bought my dress. I made a point to wait till my mom was here to get it. Please let me know if I am being old fashioned but I was surprised and hurt that my mom didn't want to have anything to do with paying for my dress. Let me clarify, my dad passed away 2 years ago and my mom has more than enough money, so that is not a factor. We are doing a DW mostly because I know that my emotions will be a mess. I really hoped that my mom would want to do something special for me or sentimental for my wedding. I just get the impression that she is not supporting us. I know our wedding is still a ways away but what do you think
-
Thank you all for your ideas. I did talk to my FI and without a doubt he totally dropped the idea, he's so sweet, I'm so lucky to be marrying him. We talked about it and I suggested that he can have some of his favorites there for anyone who my like to have one with him. He is also planning on giving his GM one
-
Thanks Aly I got it at Cameo & Cufflinks. The girl helping me was fantastic we even spent another hour and half looking at BM dresses with her. Love it, can't wait to see it in six months. I so excited that the designer will make it as a lace up back. It is so nice today too, I might have to go even out my burn Linds

I just bought my dress yesterday. I am getting married in cuba and I'm also concerned about the heat. The dress I got is heavy, but I love it so much that I can not think of having anything else. I figure it is my one and only big day that I will manage. But the fans and hanging out in the water sounds like a must, plus we are having our ceremony later in the day so I hope that helps Casa Blanca Bridal :: Collections
