  1. Beautiful wedding. I love the vibrant colours :-) You guys look gr8. And OMG!!! That little baby girl (I think it said Raelyn) under the facebook pics. She is just about as precious as precious can be. I couldn't stop smiling at her!!! Congrats!
  2. Hey hun - I think that they have all sorts. They just happened to be the one thing that was WAY more expensive. Deco quoted me $30 and EW $140 :-s But everything else EW came in WAY under. I'm wondering if maybe the crystal "curtains" that EW have are genuine crystals ?? I don't know. I love the look too though :-) I'm actually one of brides that isn't bringing the fabric down so I'm pretty clueless as far as dimensions for the chuppah. I ordered mine thru EW also. Between the OOT bags & content, real touch bouquets, escort cards, wedding programs etc I couldn't be bothered to try and bring one more thing. I get teased daily now on lugging the trailer load that I am as it is LoL
  3. Thats exactly what I did. When I told them that I would only be using their fire dancers instead of dancers and decor, they said "it doesn't suit them" .... as friggin if right?? I promptly dropped the entire contract and went with EW Cancun - who beat them on EVERY competitive price with the exception of the crystals that I wanted hanging from the back of the chuppah.
  4. "I am hoping to use Deco Cancun for the fire dancers ONLY as this is a service not provided by EW. The fire dancers must be an approved vendor by the resort, what is this companie´s name? Please let me know how to proceed. We need to confirm the Fire dancers are approved vendors, we work with some that are approved. The cost of this show is $800 usd for 20 mins show that includes 3 dancers and 1 drummer. Any other vendor might have a better price but they do not guarantee quality neither they will take responsibility in case of any damage to the property. Please confirm." The black was what I wrote her (as you can see I named DecoCan and they had already been on my invoice anyway) and the red is what she wrote me back. Naturally I wrote her back b/c of the discrepancy in price. I let her know that fellow brides on this forum had used the fire dancers thru DecoCancun at the price quoted on my original invoice ($420 for 3 dancers for 15 minutes) so why would it be $380 more for the same service, from the same vendor, at the same resort? That was 2 days ago. So far no response... :-s Shocking right?
  5. I was in the process of hiring them from DecoCancun but the $420 for 15 minutes and 3 dancers that they quoted me is now being challenged by my DRC WC, who is saying its $800 for 20 minutes .... as if the initial price wasn't steep enough. Most lawyers don't charge that for heavens sake!
  6. Ok I have RE-Newed patience for you! LoL I hope it goes lovely for you and for all the skeptical brides like me. If the resort is pushing him like they are - I think you're good! aka ( we're good) Good luck & congrats!
  7. ME NEITHER! LOL I actually sent was at Wester Union this a.m. sending off the payment. One more thing I can check off of the list :-) But yeah, I'm super psyched to see what she comes up with too LoL
  8. I had mine yesterday and the bottom line was that DJ Dooremix isn't even an option. My WC said that he didn't agree to the terms set by the resort and until he does, he is not an option as an outside vendor ... PERIOD :-s She went onto say that the DJ Mauricio (sp?) offers all the same services cold fire works, light up dance floor at the exact same price. She also said that he would take any special requests i.e. ballons, props masks that were being offered by the old DJ (Dooremix). One thing that did strike me though is that she said the light up dance floor belongs to the resort and always has. She referred me to the pricing guide which can be found online where there is (and always has been) a price listing for the light up dance floor under all the extra wedding fees in the DRC brochure. At this point, I feel like I've exhausted every avenue to re-secure Ivan so the resort DJ is who we're going to go with my looks of things. With the wedding less than 3 months away now, I can't risk having no DJ at all because we wait any longer :-s So basically we're paying no more or less, but PRAYING that this resort DJ can rock out the reception without the reviews, reputation or experience preceding him that Ivan had. Ugggh ... is it happy hour yet?? I'm in need of a cocktail LoL
  9. I actually am just wrapping up an order with Mishka. I ordered 40 maracas @ $5.75 ea. plus 40 tags that read "Shake for a Kiss" which were $16.00 (.40 ea.). The shipping to the resort is $100.00 so all together it came in at $346.00. My logo is pretty nuts though; very vibrant, bright and detailed so I'm sure that you could get the actual maracas for less depending the design you were going for. She is such a lovely person to work with and if you ever get to peek on her site, you'll see she is fabulously talented. She was a must-have for our wedding LOL
  10. In an email that DRC sent me, Veronica says that he offers the exact same services at the exact same rate :-)
  11. We're doing foot jewelry for the beach and heels for the reception on the pool deck. Chair covers were incl.in our package but I didn't want them - just the sashes. We're using DecoCancun for our lounge furniture, centerpieces, chuppah decor, ceremony aisle florals and reception lighting though :-)
  12. I am about to flip my lid I swear! I have written confirmation from Gaby from back on October 3rd that we had Ivan confirmed on our contract. And it is just that, a contract ... So how the hell can they not honor it?? Clearly this is a new policy but that in no way diminishes their responsibility nor obligation to the brides that they have ensured these services to. I swear if our wedding wasn't just over 3 months away, with 40 people booked and a wedding logo that read DRC, I would cancel the whole thing! It's starting to make me sick at the thought of even giving them our business. It's been one headache after another. With the amount of oops, unprofessionalism and nickel and dime'n they do, it's insane that they are as popular as they appear to be. I so took the pp advise and sent a strongly worded email with the written confirmation attached to my WC. This is bloody ridiculous :s Ivan I hope they get this str8. We were super excited to have you. I guess that's my vent for the day :s Â
  13. I think thats gr8! First groom I've seen on here. ... and Ursula DecoCan definitely does centre pieces b/c they're doing ours and I find them very reasonable with florals as well as everything else that they offer. :-) Can't believe I'll be seeing you in less than 4 months :-)
  14. Hey girlie - we booked Ivan aka DJ DooRemix officially through the WC. I touched base with him months before ( Ana days) trying to book but 1) he didn't have his 2011 rates & 2) by the time he did, the protocol was to book thru the DRC WC. Gaby confirmed he had been added to our contract about a month or so ago when she assigned me my WC. $300 p/h it is - but by the time you add in tip and taxes $350 p/h may be a more accurate assessment. We ordered the light up dance floor which looks like its going to be another $700 dollars :-s The whole process seems to be nickle and dime. Save you something in one place to charge you something ridiculous in another :-s.. The chair pictured on the site with the gazebo are $10 ea. I believe. I haven't done any comparisons but were working with Ana @ Deco and she is phenomenal. The prices seem quite fair too. Good luck babe!
  15. LOVES it too! I think that it will look beautiful on solid colored chairs regardless of whether you go with pink or any color :-)
  16. Hey Ivan, Finally got confirmation from Gabby that we are getting to utilize your services for our wedding at DRC on May 8th, 2011 :-) SO PSYCHED! As you know the correspondence with the resort has been ify at best so its great to finally know from you that you were available and finally from the resort that they've added it to our contract on their end :-) Do you send us the rates or should I get them from her? Thanks in advance. See you in the new year!!
  17. Yes he emailed me yesterday saying that he had just done a wedding the day before at DRC, had a meeting with them and would be able to confirm my date with the 2011 rates by next week :-)
