  1. I'm getting married in March 2011 and bought my dress yesterday. It happens to be an off-the-rack dress so I have it at home with me. But they did say that it takes 4 to 6 months to have your dress once it's ordered.
  2. I'm not getting married at the Barcelo (but at the Grand Palladium) but I was there last year and I absolutely LOVED it! The resort itself was awesome, we got amazing service and the food was excellent. Just thought I'd share, even thought we're not getting married there. The only reason why: we wanted something different and didn't want to go to the same resort two years in a row.
  3. I'm also looking for turquoise heels! Most of the ones I've seen online are white and are dyeable. Do you dye them yourself? I'd be scared to do so.
  4. WOW! What a great idea to get married in South Africa. You are very lucky... I would love to do a safari one day! Good luck with the planning!
  5. Do any of the resorts have chair satches or bows at all?? I assumed mine had the regular white satches and I could just bring my bows if they didn't have any. I'm just starting to plan now so haven't checked with the WC yet. I think I like the square knot better than the bow!
  6. We are getting married in March 2011 at the Grand Palladium in Riviera Maya. I cannot wait! I've chosen my STDs this week and am ordering them this week... and I bought my dress yesterday!!!! YAY! I know, it's quite a bit in advance... but I started looking a couple of weeks ago and I'm not into shopping that much and was sooo ready to settle on a dress! I found one that I absolutely adore.
  7. CrazyKat: What a great review!!! I cannot wait to get married at the GP!
  8. Hi! We are planning our wedding in the Riviera Maya for the last week of March 2011. Here's our dilemma: We don't know which day to hold our wedding on. We know we have to be there 3 working days before we can get married. Our guests will mostly be there for a whole week. If we get there on the Tuesday... and get married on the Saturday, we'd leave again on the following Monday or Tuesday. It seems fine, but doesn't leave us a whole lot of time with our guests if they only get there on the Friday. I'm assuming they wouldn't fly in the middle of the week since that would cause them to take more than a week off from work. Plus, we could stay for 10 days instead of 7 days, but we are thinking about switching resort and having a few days on our own as or 'honey moon'. What did you do? When did you get there and have the wedding? When did you guests get there? Did you have a whole week with them? Should we all get there on the Friday, have the wedding the following Thursday and all leave together that weekend? I'd rather have the wedding at the beginnning of the week and enjoy our time with our guests the following days.
  9. I was wondering if any of you hired an outside wedding coordinator or just stuck with the one on the resort? I've heard that the ones on the resort are usually hard to reach, take quite a while to answer the emails... etc. I was wondering if it would be worth it to hire your personal WC? I just don't know if it'd be worth the money. I have found one that charges 1300$. She replies very quickly to my emails and seems to have lots of knowledge. Any thoughts?
  10. Has anyone hired an outside wedding coordinator?? I wonder if I'd need one... I want to get my flowers done from an outside florist and I just wonder if the WC at the resort can handle everything I'd like. Any thoughts? I worry that she might be hard to reach as opposed to the outside WC who's being paid for it.
  11. I'm working on it!!! For some reason, he doesn't like it too too much. I want my bridesmaid to wear hot pink dresses. I think they guys will wear grey suits and would have a white|pink orchid boutonniere... I guess the reception area would have a little bit of pink in the decorations, but not that much still! I'd like to incorporate a bit of turquoise... but have it mostly pink and white... If I loose this battle... it'll be turquoise. Which I'm okay with too! I've looked at the thread with the bouquets... and lots of them had orchids, so I'm assuming it wouldn't be hard to get them in Mexico.

Sincerely, Nora Hi Nora, Is this your wedding on the picture in your signature? Could you please PM me the location? Thanks!!!
  13. Have you hired a WC oustide of your resort? I've gotten in touch with Jennifer Smith from Marry Me Akumal and also with Luisa Clemente from Weddings Riviera Maya. Has anyone used either one of them as a WC? Do you know of any other WC in Riviera Maya? I worry that the resort's WC might not focus on us enough as they could have more than one wedding that day, etc. What do you think? Has the on-site WC been enough for you?
  14. I'm sure some of you has had orchids for their bouquet or centerpieces. Did you get a choice in color? How did they look? I can't decide on my wedding colors... I wanted hot pink, but my fiance said no. I'm now down to turquoise or green. If turquoise... I would like my wedding party to have white|pink orchids, same with my bouquet. If green, I would like the wedding party to have white|pink orchids and my bouquet to be green and white orchids, same with the centerpieces. What are your thoughts or what have you used?

I tried private messaging you and for some reason it won't work. Maybe because I'm new here?
  16. Has anyone used her for photography?? Her website looks very good and her prices aren't as high as most of the photographers' I've found in Riviera Maya. Has anyone used Cancun Wedding Video? They work together. I really like the videos I've seen on their website.
  17. Hi!! We got engaged on Dec 28, 2009 and just recently decided on a destination wedding. We know it's probably going to be in the Riviera Maya somewhere... haven't decided on a resort yet. We know it'll be at the end of April 2011. Now... I want to send out invitations to everyone we would have invited if the wedding would have been in town (about 200 guests). I want to send a STD also. Now... how long in advance should I send the STD? Do you include any info about the destination wedding on it? Just the date and that's it How long before the actual wedding do you send the invitation? How long do you give guests to RSVP I was thinking about sendind the STD 1 year in advance, and the invitation 8 months in advance with a RSVP of 6-8 weeks. What do you think?? That way, it leaves us plenty of time to make arrangements with the travel agency and book the trip for everyone who wants to come.
