  1. @ MissSimone, I can't remember what site, but for DW weddings (and I would think esp. those where the guests will be going out of the country), expect that between only 30 to 50% of invited guests will attend. Also, be surprise on who will and will not RSVP!!! From watching the different forums, let me make this suggestion. If you would like a large group to attend a DW out of the country, make sure that you have a large bridal party, ie, bridemaids, groommen, flower girls, etc. For my daughter's wedding to Negril, we invited 100, and have 42 confirmed with about 10(!) still thinking about coming, though the RSVP deadline date has past. We are only have one MOH and BM and the bride wanted something intimate, so we're good. Good planning, and don't allow others to stress you regarding your wedding - complaints about price, location, comes with being a destination bride.
  2. Hi my daughter was able to booked fire dancers thru negrilcruises.com.
  3. Your dress is gorgeous and your details in planning will give you a beautiful wedding!
  4. thanks, in my area, Georgia, they were $2.50!!! Still a good buy, but....
  5. we have heard the same things, with one guest commenting that we were having the guests pay for the wedding! Totally not true, but what I found, with the long time to make plans, those that want to attend will, those who don't, won't. I have notice that some guests are considering this to be a vacation with a wedding thrown in for good measure! Oh well...I have been to DW and they are beautiful and intimate, which is what my daughter wanted.
  6. My daughter and I are concern about the same thing, shoulder length natural hair in a humid climate, plus we love watersports! I think we are going to let the resort stylist do our hair-they should be used to working with alot of difference hair textures- We plan to bring our own products, like Carol's Daughter or Kinky curl, so with wet hair we can add products and have styled into a twist or chignon. My stylist at home has suggested a sew in, but with heat and humidity, I just can't imagine that (plus never wore a wig or weave, not sure my daughter's wedding place to start!) Regarding our makeup, we plan to visit either MAC or Sephora and have them prepare a package and bring with us. Good luck, I am confident you will be a beautiful bride!
  7. we used weddingpaperdivas also and they were wonderful to work with. I had to call their customer services and also had to make a small change which they took care of immediately. My daughter's invitations are beautiful.
  8. Dreamstar, I am really sadden about what happened, but trust, this, its better to have happened now, then later. I hope that you had some time to reflect when you were in Jamaica and know that your love is out there, and in time you will find him and know you were blessed. This journey called life sometimes come with stumbles, but you will be fine. Stay strong. Best wishes.
  9. @donutdjn, my daughter's wedding is also during the hurricane season (in Sept), which when we booked we were unaware of, however, I believe that just like someone getting marry in the winter, where it may or may not snow, the bridal couple picks the best available time for them. We are going to purchase weather insurance, but I believe we all are going to have beautiful weather!!
  10. Wedding at 5, coctails at 6, reception at 6:45.
  11. thanks negrildreamer, but when my daughter booked she did not realize that September is the rainy season! I guess that did explain the discounted pricing, lol!
  12. must be the only bakery in Negril, I have been checking around on other sites and this is the only name I get. If not the only, must be the best
  13. Just beautiful, you did a wonderful job in your planning and preparation.

Hi Stacey, my daughter is getting marry at MDV in September 2010. Do you have any pictures or reviews? Who did your cake? Were they able to make the wedding reception special from any other event that you may have had on the beach? We plan to have a beach party the night before the wedding, but we don't want the reception to be a repeat of that.
  15. sorry, late reply, but recently came on board. We had the same questions so we are paying $115/per guest. We took the total cost for staying at the Villas(38 guests), subtracted the $4300 off and then divided the balance by the guests. This will be the amount that the guests staying will pay. It seemed easier to have a set amount versus, some guests paying one amount and another paying something different based on which villa that the guest was staying at!

  17. Hello Jamaica brides user name:dmob for da mother of the bride wedding Moon Dance Villas Labor Day weekend 2010
  18. wendydj, would you mind posting the website where you purchased the bags? Thanks. sorry, re-read, saw the site. oops!
  19. We're booked all the Villas for the wedding on the beach, but was disappointed that we could not have an indoor reception. Is there a indoor venue at the Cliffs that would hold a wedding party of about 40?
  20. Hi I'm Debra, mother of the bride, assisting with the planning of daughter's DW to Negril Jamaica. We're trying to achieve a New York Chic (she and the FI lives in NYC) meets southern casual charm (both grew up in the south). The wedding is schedule for Labor Day weekend at Moon Dance Villas. My major concerns (right now-concerns change daily!!) are: weather-hurricane season and the cost of photography! Newbie to this site and posting only on one other site, but I had a time figuring out how to post. Could be a generation gap I look forward to planning this wedding and gaining new insite with you all. The last time I had to think this intimately about wedding plans was 35 years ago, and then my mom did it all!!!
