  1. Your dress looks very beachy to me! Mine had a huge train, tons of beading and was in no sense "beachy" and it fit right in with the setting of my wedding. Just choose an outfit for your groom that goes with your dress and you will look amazing together!
  2. I agree with the other girls. We had a small wedding and I wouldn't change it for the world! My mom was just saying the other day how nice it is to now actually know some of our friends after spending the week together. It really made the wedding day that much more intimate and fun too, since everyone was comfortable with one another and no one held back any dance moves!! One of my most cherished memories was looking out at our guests during our ceremony and seeing the tears and emotion on everyone's faces, knowing how much they all truly knew and cared for us. That's not something you feel with big weddings. So embrace your situation and enjoy all of your wedding, even the planning!!
  3. I was just on the lomas site and I saw the fee for bringing in a non approved vendor jumped from $500 to $800!!! Wow!! Thought I would let you girls in the planning stages know.

  5. We handed out 12 disposable cameras(1 per room) before we even left for Mexico and asked everyone to take photos all week long. It did cost a bit more than expected to have them developed, but the photos are great! Some are bad quality, but still memories! We handed a lot of those photos back out to the people in the shots with their thank you cards too.
  6. We did OOT bags that had; first aid kit, tea, hangover pills, crystal light packets, pepto, advil, umbrella straws, disposable cameras, sunscreen, luggage tags and other little things that I can't remember now! And we did favors on the tables too. I added name tags to the favors so they doubled as place markers. We had cigars for men(bought at the resort) and seashell lip balms for the women(ordered online). It is all a matter of your budget and when you want people to use your items. Mugs may be best given out before so they can use them and then you don't have to haul them all down yourself.
  7. My photographer did a great job at making me look good! check out her blog to see more photos(if you haven't booked a photog yet I highly recommend Citlalli!!!) http://citlallirico.com/blog/?p=2761 Your dress looks very light and airy! Great colour choice! If you don't need major alterations then you should be fine for time. Good luck with the rest of your planning!
  8. My dress was "Denise" from the Maggie Sottero 2010 Spring Collection. I chose the light gold colour after my best friend convinced me it would look good with my skin tone and the beach, and I couldn't be happier with it! The colour looks amazing in photos and I got so many compliments about how unique it looked. The details and beading was incredible and the dress was really comfortable too. Wish I could wear it again!!
  9. My husband's brother and his wife(who we are not very close with) gave us a pair of superman pj's, a hair turban(you know the towel that you wrap around your wet hair on those infomercials!), edible body oil and a vibrating sex toy for Christmas. Nice combo!! It was so gross we threw it all out! Thank goodness we live in a different city and didn't have to open it in front of anyone! Also that Christams we got a chunk of sheet metal that my MIL painted a dragon intertwined with a topless red headed woman...I think it was meant to go outside because she had a note on it that said "varnish every year to protect from the elements"!! What do you say to that?! "Thanks MIL for the soft core porn painting, it will look great in my garden!?" The great thing about that one is we regifted it in our annual "regifting party" and it has been passed around our friends for 3 Christmas's now!! Everyone gets a laugh at it! LOL!!!! Yes, this is the family I married into!!!
  10. You learn something new everyday, I didn't know number of posts would change my status! Lol!!
  11. Your already a step up on everyone else since you've done a site visit! I went in completely blind and my wedding turned out great so you'll be fine. We used the Casitas Spa for hair and make up and they did a great job with all 6 of my ladies! Rafa was amazing!!!!!! We also bought our flowers through Lomas and they were very accurate to the online photos and the prices were very reasonable. My bouquets lasted all week! I did see a wedding reception set up on the beach while we were there and it looked like a big group so you could ask about that. We used Health Bar for our cocktail hour and it was great, as long as it is big enough for your group. What about another Gazebo down the beach from #55? I agree with the previous poster, maybe look into switching your date or time if your set on Tucannes and Gazebo #55. Sorry, wish I could help you out more but we didn't hire a dj, just rented speakers and used our i pod.
  12. Have you choosen a resort or location yet?
  13. I used www.weddingstar.com/ and they were great. I ordered glass sea shell candle holders, disposable beach themed cameras and some of the personalized stickers for much cheaper than any Edmonton wedding stores. They carry favors, stickers, decor items, ect, I'm not sure if they have what your looking for but take a peak.
  14. Ha ha!! Those are great!! I'm totally at #11 right now!
  15. Barefoot is very beachy and can be so natural and beautiful. For me personally, I would feel like I forgot to finish getting dressed with no shoes on. I wore 4inch platform sandels for my beach wedding and wouldn't have had it any other way! It made me feel that much more dressed up and beautiful on my wedding day! My BM wore whatever they wanted...2 wore flip flops, 1 wore peep toed pumps...and we all had to empty the sand from our shoes after!!
  16. I second that! I avoided so much stress and silly "wish I would have known" moments thanks to this community. Such a great place to vent about crazy bride moments to people who get it too! Even now that my wedding has come and gone, I still find myself on here daily!!
  17. You should check out Claudiaphoto and see if they are available. We used Citlalli for our wedding last month and she was really nice, spoke perfect english and her photos are stunning! Her packages are reasonably priced too. http://www.citlallirico.com/ www.claudiaphoto.com Good luck on your photog hunt!!
  18. Just like every other Mexican news story that scares B2B and their guests from travelling to their DW, I think people should always consider that travelling anywhere out of country could be dangerous at any point. Don't put yourself in situations that could be unsafe and familiarize yourself with the laws and restrictions/customs of that country. You are not in USA or Canada anymore and that means your expectations and actions need to adjust accordingly. Yes, some incidents are unavoidable, but that is life. Just make smart decisions about you destination(obviously a DW in Mexico City is probably more risky than one in Mayan Riviera!) and then let yourself move on and enjoy your trip. You'll have enough wedding related issues to stress about, trust me!
