  1. Also, we never had to put down a group deposit. We are sailing on the Carnival Liberty October 29 2011.
  2. Hmmmm...... what we did was create a group booking and everyone had to pay a $25 deposit. Our travel agent was able to call Carnival multiple times to extend the deposit deadline. The last deadline expired in June, and when she called them to extend yet again, Carnival said they would honor the remaining rooms we had blocked off for the group at the current pricing for an undisclosed period of time.
  3. We sent out a lot of Save The Dates because we have large families and large groups of friends. We have 77 people coming but about 75-100 who are not. For those who have booked by the time we send out invites, they will get full invites/pocketfolds with vacation information. For those who have not booked, we will send them a mini invite that announces our day of marriage and invites them to the casual at-home reception we will have when we get home....

If you want, I can send you some pictures of the beach, that may be easier to help make your decision. I would appreciate that so much!!! My email is goodtoglow @ gmail.com I wish that when we were in St Thomas in February we stopped by Lindquist so I could picture it. We were determined to go to Gibney Beach & Skinny Legs on St John instead!!!
  5. I've been in contact with Janelle and she is the sweetest person. So happy and helpful, always replies within a day and has fantastic packages at a great price. I will be booking her shortly!
  6. I'm wondering what everyone thinks of Lindquist aka Smith Bay Beach? We are going to have 70+ guests, which makes chairs completely unaffordable for our ceremony - although, that many chairs wouldn't have fit on Lindquist Beach anyway, according to Janelle from Island Bliss. For those of you who have been there, do you think it is big enough to fit 70+ people? We really want to get married on this beach!
  7. I'm calling my theme "traditional tropical" and I'm having my bridesmaids wear a soft shade of royal blue, and all of the flowers and accents pink, orange and lime green which will pop against their dresses! My fiance and the guys aren't picky about what they wear, but I'm suggesting they all wear different colored ties in bright colors (ties will be worn during the dinner reception)!
  8. Oh my gosh... I am just in LOVE with your wedding! Your attention to detail is amazing. I'm so happy that I am also in Vancouver, I have already contacted Amber about destination wedding prices and engagement photos! Congratulations, and I'm sure that you feel absolutely lucky to have such cherished photos of your wedding day!
  9. Your invitations are amazing! I love the attention to detail! Wow wow wow! The color combos work great, too!

They arranged for us to have one whole side of the restaurant which seated our guests nicely. We did do speeches there, without a microphone, so at times it was a little hard to hear, but we're just happy we could have them! Our dinner started at 6 and with all the courses and speeches we were out of there by 1130! I was just reading through this again, and am surprised they let you stay in the Steakhouse so late! Did they not book a late seating in the steakhouse because they knew that your wedding reception would likely take a while? I was just thinking they would give us the 2.5 hour normal allottment that they tell you to expect on the reservations page. I'm waiting to hear back from Carnival groups, and we now have 76 guests booked (MUCH more than expected!) and by the sounds of things, we are better off just paying for all 108 seats in the Steakhouse and having a private reception (it would be weird to have 76+ of us, and then just a few tables of randoms!). I wonder if they would let us use the room from 7pm until however long it takes!

Hmmm, I beg to differ. I just went on a cruise Jan 30-Feb 7 and it was hot hot hot! We left from Fort Lauderdale where it was in the low 20's (sorry, that's Canadian temperatures for you.... not sure what the conversion is). As we sailed through the Carribean, we were hitting 25-35 degree weather! Definitely hot enough!!
  12. Congrats again! Did you have a lunch reception? Since I am not planning on booking my wedding with Carnival, but rather an on-island coordinator, they won't allow me to book a room for a catered reception. I would have preferred to buy a reception package including open bar, instead we are renting out the Steakhouse and paying for "ghost guests" so that we have a private reception. I wish there was a way to work around this
  13. Congratulations! I can't wait to see pictures. I'll be on the same itinerary departing Oct 29 2011.
  14. Congratulations! It sounds amazing. That is a great tip for the parasols, I will definitely be considering that now. I hope you can uplaod some pictures!
  15. I'm having my wedding cruise on the Liberty as well! We are getting married in the beach in St Thomas though so I can't help you out with your Miami questions. The Liberty is such a beautiful ship (much nicer than Freedom which I was just on in February) - I'm so excited! 52 guests and counting!!!

I don't want to go with a WC and then say we will have 10 guests and end up with 20 or vice versa. HELP HELP =) I think a rough estimate would be fine. The WC I have been talking with (Janelle from Island Bliss) gives you a rough estimate and you don't pay until a bit before the wedding when you have your numbers in. I would think your guests would all know 100% at least 6 weeks before the date? Anyway, I'm just telling Janelle we will have 50-75 guests!
  17. 1. Name- Stephanie 2. Where are you from- Vancouver, BC 3. Where are you getting married in St Thomas- Undecided - We love Lindquist but are thinking about Sapphire Beach as it has amenities for our guests to use after the ceremony 4. When are you getting married- November 1, 2011 5. Who is your WC - I haven't booked her yet but I want to use Janelle from Island Bliss Weddings We are cruising on the Carnival Liberty leaving Miami October 29 2011 and getting married on the beach in St Thomas! We are sooo excited! We have 45 guests booked so far and it's still a year and a half away!
  18. Thank you so much for your reply! We really want to pay for everyone in the restaurant but are not sure if one side will be big enough to hold the amount of guests we are expecting (50+). Of course I emailed Carnival and they said they have no idea what the occupancy of Harry's Super Club is.... helpful!!
  19. Your website looks great! Thanks for the recommendation - and I love your wedding song!
  20. Congratulations! Your pictures are so amazing! We are thinking about doing the same cruise aboard the Liberty with our wedding in St Thomas (likely Lindquist) as well. The Supper Club is our choice for reception too, so I'm glad to hear of your positive comments. Did you do up a seating chart and escort cards? As well, were you able to do your speeches in there? We really do not want to do any sort of reception, unless it is post-reception dancing, in the night club because those hands are just too much. If the Supper Club aboard the Liberty is half as good as it was aboard the Freedom when we went a few weeks ago, it's worth the cost for us to pay for all of our guests! Did you arrange your reception arrangements over the phone or via email? Sorry for all of the questions! Thanks for the help.... and congrats again, can't wait to see more pics!
  21. That's such a great idea to have pictures taken in Grand Cayman! It is beautiful there. I'm thinking about doing something like that too at a port of call after my wedding - maybe even trash the dress! Congrats and happy planning!
  22. Hello everyone! I'm excited to finally be able to join this forum now that I am engaged! My name is Stephanie and my fiance is Colin We haven't set a date yet officially but it is leaning towards Nov 01/11 in St. Thomas during a cruise stop there.... we just need to do a bit more research about the Carnival Liberty and our reception options, and well as choosing a beach in St Thomas (my vote goes to Lindquist) before booking it and making it official! Can't wait to see what these boards will offer me during my planning process! -Steph
