Did anyone get the list of products she is suggesting? I could not find it on her site...

Lady Di: I would have your FMIL or FFIL politely let drop to her/his sister that the wedding is not free for the extra guests and is in fact rather an up charge. You do not need to deal with this that is what the family is for. Not to mention, no where else would someone think to bring EXTRA guests to the wedding. It is rude and his family needs to nip it in the bud. It is one thing if they are invited guests...we are all taking that risk, but tag-a-longs...NO WAY!

Hey, for those of you doing iPod receptions/dance, are you bringing the sound system for that or are you doing the one provided for fee from the resort? Also are you getting a dance floor or just doing it wherever? Finally, do they have a dance floor that is not the light up one? Christa.

Thanks BTB1515! I know how hard it is to not sweat the small stuff and get carried away. Everytime I read a post about something cool someone else has set up at their reception I keep thinking I can do that too... Eventually the budget and the KISS theory wins out but as I get closer I can totally see myself not being able to hold back. Everyone here is such a big help though. Christa.

Bridetobe1515: I really don't care about many of the details. Everyone keeps asking me about colors, etc and I don't care. I have one BM/MOH, my BF. I don't care what she wears. I keep telling her to just pick something that she will wear again and she looks good in. She keeps asking if this cut or color is ok...I DON'T CARE. I don't care about flowers or cake or what's for dinner. I just want to get married to Jeff and have a great time celebrating it with our friends and family. That is why I am doing a DW. Limit the choices and let someone else do all the work. At the end of the day, I will be married to the man I love and that is what matters. Christa.

I'm so sorry to hear that. Maybe you can still include them in the wedding...a charm or something that you can carry with you maybe on your flowers and give to her, a special song, IDK something that shows she was remembered and thought of on that day and was still present with you. You and your BF's family have my thoughts and prayers.

Congrats!! There are a bunch of us Playa girls on the forum. What resort are you thinking of? I am torn between Riu Rivera Maya and Gran Porto Real at the moment.

You all rock! Thank you so much for the information. It is all becoming clearer now. When do you have to select the package? I mean I won't know if I have the free + a la carte option until much later. And once you select the package can you change your choice? Also, several of you have said you are very frustrated with the pre-planning service. As I am just beginning to make this choice, would you change if you could? Is it that bad? Everyone has loved their wedding, but I'd be lying if I told you I wasn't nervous entering into it with those complaints out there. I do have to say that we are not looking for micro control over things. As a matter of fact I am planning a DW because I don't want to plan it all.

There is already a thread on here for Royal Playa del Carmen brides. Check it out and even though it is REALLY long, read it from start to finish if you can. It will most likely answer all your questions. It is titled something like "are children allowed on the the date of the wedding?" Welcome and congrats! You are going to find this sooo helpful.

So, I am confused...which is not hard these days! For those of you that were larger wedding groups, you don't need to pick the package that matches the size of your wedding most closely? And if that is the case, do you pay the fee listed for the pp above and beyond your package number and THEN pay the 1700 or 1900 for the private reception? Am I getting this right? I am thinking that we could be as large as 75 and just want to try and get the estimated costs locked down as best as we can. Thanks you guys you have been invaluable on the planning here!

Hey all, I am new. The FI and I are planning a January 2011 wedding in Playa. We are as yet undecided as to location, but need to find one that is kid friendly due to our large extended family. We don't want to leave anyone out. Right now we are considering the Riu resorts and the Gran Porto Real. Any info would be helpful. They both don't seem to get much play here.
