  1. Rosie, I am happy that you enjoyed ur chinese style AHR. I am so anti-chinese style in general, now I don't know what to do...as I want to please my parents (my AHR sponsors) by having a chinese AHR, but ... I guess I will do what the US government does with their debt-->kick the can down the road for now. HAVE FUN in MEXICO!!!
  2. Nan, My guests are from all over the world and they aren't young, so I don't want to "surprise" them too much. I am someone with a strong temper, if I flied 7000 miles to a wedding, I expect to eat something nice and something I like, and would be extremely "angry" if I don't. If your guests are adventuous, I guess Mexican menu will be fine. Here is my menu The Encounter Royal Seafood Salad perfumed with Peach and Plum Oil The Dating Countryside Soup with Mushrooms, Carots & Spinach The Wedding Lamb Chops perfumed with Fresh Spearmint Or Casablanca Chicken stuffed with seafood The Happy Ever After Cheesecake with Chocolate
  3. brides...First week of May is their "labour day" week, so no one is working in the factory.
  4. Nicola, Relax and go with the flow! All the best & Have a great time!!! Don't forget to write us a review :-) Thx again for setting us this thread!
  5. RG, unless u want everything in the package, I would have to say, it is cheaper to do a la carte. I built an excel spreadsheet model (sorry, I am a financial analyst) to go thru it. Unless, you like and want everything in a package, it is usually $1000+ cheaper to go with a la carte.
  6. Girls, I am currently in Puerto Moreles for an Easter escape! The weather is beautiful and perfect! Not too hot, but warm enough to dip in the water. Perfect for weddings! ah°°°° I wish I ve picked a May wedding! Happy Easter!
  7. Hola from Puerto Moreles! Girls, I am currently in Puerto Moreles, a town in between Cancun and Playa Del Carmen, for the Easter, I made a last minute and expensive decision to escape from our miserable weather! We dont stay at the Royal Playa Del Carmen as we dont to think of our wedding or do any planning or prep! We just want to relax! So the weather is beautiful, not too hot, and warm enough to dip in the water! I am so jealous of the May brides, because in July, it will be sticky HOT!
  8. Rosieposie, Hopefully, ur chinese family and friends aren't cheap, or else...you will end up with a loss. But usually, chinese couples can break even on the reception.
  9. Kelly, I am a Canuck, living on the east coast, and we usually go with package deals from the airlines. The cheapest I EVER seen was during the flu+hurricane season in 2009, It was like $1400 per person with flight, so remove the plane tix at around $700 per person(assume we fly with Canadian airlines, not with Americans), the room would still cost more than $140 per night. The only way I can get $140 is...u book at the Gran Porto with a package deal..and then upgrade it at $50 per room per night to the Royal. I 've done it, because I was told that the Royal was full, so I booked the Gran Porto and was offered to upgrade to the Royal upon check in.
  10. Manni, Your dress is beautiful! and seriously..no one really notice the flaws... Bridesmom, I hope the Japanese woman is safe and is able to send the dress to you too.
  11. Cosmo, if you have the time to read this whole thread from page 1 with a glass of wine, you will see there were some hits and some disasters with Landy Bridal, I didn't went with them because I saw one of the dress with an uneven/non-symetrical sweetheart bust, and their beading skills were...so so. and they never say NO regardless of how difficult the dress is. Miss Kim, You have to tell the reps that you have a large DD cup, it is very rare for Chinese to get to this size, again like a size 14+, most of the chineses never seen one in real life.
  12. thx Rosieposie... I guess I am hoping to get a good bonus and pay for that light up floor...not only I got a 30 persons group, and most of them are not the dancing type
  13. miss kim, you can always ask, if they have pics on a finished dress, they will send u the pics. Again to everyone who wants a mermaid dress, try one at bridal shop before ordering...because mermaids aren't for everyone, and some are not very comfy to sit down with
  14. Nicola, Yes, we have the L-plate equivalent here, we put it on the top of the car! Rosieposie, if u wanna travel, do it before u get any kids! hahaha...and u can skip Winnipeg, Calgary and Edmonton, every time I go into these cities..I start wondering why people don't commit suicide, then in Calgary..someone told me it was because they couldn't find a building high enough to jump off! If u wanna do Europe and Canada at the same time, come to Quebec! We have european buildings, we speak french, and tons of french immigrants to give u the oh la la feel! Scotland is very beautiful and since Edinburgh is a financial hub where Scottish Widows and Martin Currie are based, I guess I wouldn't mind to live there!
  15. Destined, Goto a bridal shop, and try out dresses to see which cut or shape looks nice on you. Don't buy a replica based on the model pic, unless you are 6 feet tall and size 0... If u find a sample dress on sale and it fits u perfectly + within ur budget, buy it!
  16. Rosieposie, yes, it is normal to see those butterflies!!! LOL I wanna order a cake topper with our faces and keep it after...it will be smth like $120..still hesitating. I saw someone with a white light dancing floor (instead of a color one) I wonder if that is the standard floor.
  17. After Mocha's seam at the back saga... I put more attention to..the back of the dress...and notice..seam across at the back is pretty common...it depends on the cut of the dress of course..some hide it with a ribbon/bow and other things...look below..that is the famous Vera Wang for frugal brides who shop at Davids' Bridal.. ok...the couture version don't have the seam exposed like this, it was more...folded and hidden.
  18. Mocha, Finally I saw the pics. Ok... 1) you look great in both dresses! I prefer the first one, because the second one is a bit yucky 1990s (nothing wrong with it, it is just a personal taste), and the first one is more beachy with cleaner lines. 2) Even if ur crazy FMIL is going with ruffles, she won't outshine u. Because you are the bride, and no one care what the mothers are wearing..as long as they don't dress smth...crazy or inapropriate. 3) The second dress is beautiful at the front,..and seriously do u think ...folks will stare at ur back and notice the seam?! 4) u can add a ribbon with a tiny bow to hide the seam like this picture or just wear a long veil
  19. Mocha, u can always add a sash to hide the seam! relax~ I am sure u are just overstressed!
