  1. Nicola, Fantastic review! The pics are awesome! I hope my day will be as beautiful as yours! Congratz again!
  2. Cupcake... it is not a difficult dress to make, you can just find a site with good reviews, and ask them to make it. Davids' Bridal also has its version of the same dress, so maybe u can check it out. Ok..before I laugh too hard, you should know if u read through this thread that there is a bride trying to sell the same dress for $6K.
  3. yes, I think I will LIKE my own kids for sure, but others' kids...meh~ and the last thing I want to hear during my ceremony will be babies cries or kids nagging noises! LOL
  4. Those who didn't RSVP, I would assume that they are not coming, and probably losers as well. Meanwhile, I still have a few that are "still" looking for a travel buddy or doing the budgeting, my wedding is 1 month away and I sent out the invite in December 2010 and told everyone that I will have a DW in December 2009....so I also assume those "still" "undecided" losers are not coming.
  5. Ok, there are several reasons... 1) I am from Hong Kong, and my FI is from Belgium, we live in Montreal, Canada. Therefore, we don't have a common hometown/home country anyway. 2) Cost control: the last thing we want is a 400 people wedding with some freeloaders (those who give u a toaster and bring 2 kids+a fat wife to the reception), some unrelated relatives, and people that I don't know. With $2000 per person as cost, only the SERIOUS friends/family members will come. 3) I want to marry on a beach and we don't have nice beaches in Montreal. 4) I want a romantic and intimate wedding 5) I don't like others' kids, so an Adult Only All Inclusive resort wedding is a nice way to hint...Don't BRING ur UGLY kids to my big DAY!
  6. OMG Nicola! u look absolutely gorgeous! and I love the turquoise blue!!
  7. Nan, All the best!!! Enjoy every single moment!!Gosh...I am so happy for you! My day is 44 days away, and I am still going thru the last minute stuffs! lol
  8. thx Ginger! I initially budget my dress to be around $2000, videography $2000, photography $2000. All together...still much less that $8000..360 swiffer dress. LOL, I m sorry, unless she is marrying a corporate legal counsel or a wall street big bank investment banker, I will laugh at canuck for a long time. so far, I am still under budget for my dress..with..4 dresses made. I asked my friend who is a movie director to be the videotog..and went a bit above in the photog..because I want to do underwater TTD.
  9. jbmarch, I find your dress is very nice. I dunno about ur skinny tone, if you are tanned or dark skin, u will look great in it. As for the one shouder dress, you can find smth similar at H&M for $50, or u can drop $500 at BCBG.
  10. Imara, Sorry to hear about ur dress, but the dress that you want is $8000 USD or $4000 USD second hand. You can also get it for $1400 at David's Bridal with a $120 belt. If I have time, I would totally goto Davids bridal. Graciamurano.. To make you feel better, I now post my nth dress, made by Babyonline, I will have 3 receptions, so I can take on more dresses! LOL Don't judge me!
  11. oh miss kim...sorry to hear that. btw we are date twins!! good luck with all the rest of the planning!
  12. Manni, Good eyes! When I saw the website I was like..hmm..Black, but I saw so many arab women in black veils and black robes/covers on the streets, so I assumed Koko wants a black dress for her wedding.
  13. ok time to show my dress (remade by Babyonline) the background: I ordered a dress with Monica Bridal a year ago (yes, at least 6 months in advance, no fuss), it turned out to GORGEOUS and VERY VERY NICE. However It was a bit too long and I lost weight...like from 98 lbs to 90 lbs. The resizing would cost more locally than buy another dress. Given, I ordered my bestfriend's dress (similar design as mine) from Babyonline and it turned out to be GREAT as well, I ordered my remake from Babyonline. Special thx to Ginger who inspired me to add a bow at the back of the dress. There are the pics http://s894.photobucket.com/albums/ac147/prettypigpig/dress%20II/
  14. Ericka, babyonline and wywedding are 2 different vendors on dhgate. Plus, even u go buy a dress at a local bridal store, the ETA is 6 months anyway. I don't understand why brides are in panic mode after 18 days of placing their orders. I would rather to get a well made dress than a dress which comes on time. Misskim, I am sorry that you have some issues with ur dress. Like Ginger said it is worth the wait. I hope it will work out for u. However, I did book my photog before buying my dress, my hubby already bought his clothes without seeing my dress. Shoes and bling blings too...bought before the dress's arrival. As for makeup, I don't think I will change my makeup preference because of my dress anyway (I am not Lady Gaga). I guess you can go on "parallel" planning mode, the dress won't be completely diff from the picture anyway.
  15. Nan, Don't be overstress, just offer a more "common" dish for the non-adventurers, and after a few shots of tequilas, everything will go smooth!
  16. MissKim, Like Ginger said, once they shipped it out, it usually comes pretty fast (within a week). Kbodchill, I think someone order a tulle/lace dress from them a few page ago, it turned out very nice. You can also goto their website, they got a gallery with their previously made dresses, so you can have some ideas. Ginger's new dress is a lace dress as well. Ginger, It is a great idea to donate some dresses to girls who can't afford a prom dress (so much fuzz about going to a prom nowadays!) I will drop my MOH dress that I weared last year to the donation box too! I don't think I will wear a purple taffeta long dress in the near future anyway. But your wedding is in November, so you may still order more dresses!!! hahaha Gracimurano, LOL! a 6th dress?! I think my FI will start to complaint! He will just have a linen shirt plus linen pants!!
  17. ghenson, If you can pay a bit more, go with topspartner. If not, babyonline can do a good job as well. For softer tulles, you can go monica bridal.
  18. WOW! After almost 2 yrs on this forum together, I can't believe it will be ur turn soon!!! Everything looks so perfect!! Congrats!
  19. Gracimurano, You are still very far away from me and Ginger1961! I have 4 dresses...and maybe more to come! hahaha Great pick on the dress! I just hope Babyonline can make it on time.
  20. Nan, I guess it is all depends on where your guests are from...their expectation and their taste. However, if u fed them a few shots of tequila, I think everything will go smoothly! I have people from Hong Kong, Paris, Rome, Toronto, Vancouver, NYC, Montreal...seriously I can't serve smth too street/bar food. I was raised with hotel room service and micheline restos food (my dad is a chef, and my family are foodies), so I m generally very picky on food. Maybe I am the pickiest one ...heehee..no wonder I am only 90lbs! I live to eat, not the other way around. Seriously...after 7000+ miles/ 12 hours+ of plane, the last thing I want to see ...is a weird looking dried meat or glue looking paste with greasy chips I want my wedding to be remembered as good food, good music, good ambience. I just want to be perfect (sounds like Natalie Portman in Black Swan)! Trust me, people get over bad/weird/cheap food but they do REMEMBER it. Of course! I 've been to those receptions that I needed to goto chinatown at 11pm to get a lobster for a quick second serving. All the items on my menu aren't available in any of the 7 or 8 restos in my resorts, and if they want to have mexican food, they can goto the yucky 4 stars sister hotel across the street to have it.
