  1. Vanessa, DJ Doremixx is actually the default DJ at my resort, Royal PDC, the resort charges $850 for DJ and $150 for fireworks. If I go with an external DJ, I would have pay $350 of external vendor fee on top of whatever the DJ charges. The lite up floor is $750, and confetti canon is $70. My FI was a DJ, so technically speaking he can do it, but I really want to have the fireworks at our first dance...so..he checked DJ Doremixx's equipments and reviews, and we decided to go with them.
  2. Michelle, Great review! I am sorry that you got so many small problems, I would ve gone nuts if I were u..heheheee! Girls, I did my pin up/boudoir session yesterday after work, and it was so much fun!!! My FI asked why my hair was curled and was wearing fresh makeup....lol so I lied that I went for a trial at MAC...heehee... here are some of the pics, unedited, so...sorry for the skin imperfections and untoned arms and legs. I am sure the Photoshop will do wonders!
  3. Girls, I just did my pin up/ boudoir pics today, it was so much fun!! My FI was suspicious because my hair is curled when I came back from work..so I came up with smth like I went for a free makeover session at MAC...lol Here are some of the raw pics (unedited), so sorry for the skin imperfection and extra fat! I am sure Photoshop will do wonders! I didn't went for lingeries, because I zzz nude every nite, so I think he will be more exciting to see me in corsets.
  4. Torilynn, I know that Vera Wang has a collection at Davids' Bridal now, but it is NOT the same quality and cut when you compare to her couture collection. However, it is pretty good for a $1400 Vera Wang dress. Not to mention, there are tons and tons of brides wearing the same dresses.....I prefer something more unique. As for the $99 dress, usually they are on sale at $99, and regular price at $399 plus alter fees. Therefore, technically..you can't get a fitted dress at David's for $99. I agree with Mocha, in general, if you tried on the original and expect the same, u will probably be disappointed.
  5. Torilynnsmith, It depends on the original dress. If it is an Amsale or Vera Wang, there are no comparison. If it is a David's Bridal $99 dress, then I would say it gets very close. Like Mocha said, the material is the key difference, also the cut as well.
  6. Nolacruiser, Very nice dress, I love the color of the sash as well. I think the sash is sew on the dress ( from the pic of the back of the dress), so I am not sure you can wear the sash at the back.
  7. Chante, Like I said so many times, if you find a nice sample dress at a great price, BUY IT!
  8. I agree...plain is still better than diaper/kidney bags dress or super beached whales. If you can jazz it up with some nice red shoes and vintage headpieces, it will look very nice. I am not a bling bling girl, I don't wear any bling except my engagement (which is a mega bling on my tiny finger) on a daily basis, so I prefer a classic lace dress, flowy and romantic. Again, I am very opinionate in general. Maybe try on different styles before ordering it, so you are 100% sure about what you want. I used to want a silk chiffon dress, and I ended up with anything else...EXCEPT silk chiffon. One thing about those corset back dresses, make sure it is not too low..or else..you won't able to sit comfortably.
  9. I found both a bit too plain, but dress 1 looks more romantic and flowy, so dress 1! Ginger, LOL, I am sure I will get a lot of hate mails if I start a bridal blog! Jen, Very nice dress, it is very different from the original, but the quality is there, and I am sure u will look amazing on ur day!
  10. Torilynn, My baby bro,who was forced to goto shopping marathon with his 3 sisters, always says: When you can't decide, just buy both!
  11. Janette, 4 things: 1) Go try out different style of dress, and the ones that are close to your dream dress. Just to get a general idea, because unless u are a size 0, 6 ft tall girl...u won't look the same as the model pic. 2) Please consider the level of difficulty of ur dress, if your dress is a $10K designer dress with tons of silk organza and satin, don't expect to get it for $100. If it is a underwear slip or grecian grannie robe (like some that I saw on this thread, don't wanna be mean..but seriously...some choices were ...meh!), probably you will be very happy with it. 3) If you find a dress on the rack on sale, and it is within your budget, please..BUY IT, it is a deal! 4) Respect your body type (again, don't wanna sound super mean, but seriously me and my FI laughed so much on this forum's show your dress thread), you don't wanna look like a beached whale (an obese mermaid dress) or a grannie with poopied diaper or kidney bags on the sides on your day (a dress with puffy stuff dangling/ruchings at the back or on the sides). Again, I don't think our men are so picky about the dress, so..just relax and take your time to pick a nice and affordable dress.
  12. Kelly, I found the white bedsheet wrapped gazebo columns look too plain. I basically make turquoise organza flowers (by hand) and then glue them on 10m of ribbon. Technically, you can buy the butterflies and seashells on etsy and glue them on a ribbon. I will wrap the 2 frontal columns at the gazebo with the garlands, and will do the ceremony there. If I have the time, I will make more garlands...but I have to be realistic about my DIY ability! lol. I will post the pics once I am done.
  13. hahahaha...great torture!!! me too, I am a bit stressed with the DIY..I am trying to do 10 m of organza flower garlands for the gazebo! lol
  14. Mexbride, long time no see, u looked beautiful!!! and I am happy that u are happy with ur vendors as I booked the same DJ ...heehee your shoes look also very very pretty! I hope my day will be as perfect as yours!
  15. JHarris, Don't worry too much, I ve seen brides at RPDC on rainy days during my site inspection, they all looked great and had great times with indoor reception. For things that you don't have control over, you should just chill and relax. Of course, we can all pray and send u positive vibes~~~~ Andrea, I spent like $10 per each OOT bags..initially I was thinking of buying those hand sanitazers, but then I saw RPDC already offers them to its guests...they also offers chips, boxes of juices in their mini bar, they also have bath salts and tea lite candles for the jaccuzi in the room ...as for medications, I just send a list of things to pack to my guests. As some people have allergies to certain meds..and I don't want to be responsible for that.
  16. Jozee84- June 15, 2011 JHarris - June 17, 2011 Sweetle- June 24, 2011 JenniferKuhr- July 1, 2011 Prettypigpig- July 4, 2011 DeniDen - April 20, 2012 Jennifer, You are not a bridezilla! My 2 sisters used to dye their hair like Avril Lavigne style..with green/blue/pink highlights. As you can see in my pics, I am not a caucasian with blonde hair like Avril Lavigne! Not only it looked weird and funky, it also looked very ugly. Thx god they don't dye their hair that way anymore. My 2 sis will be my BMs, and as much as they don't like my taste, I keep remind them it is MY WEDDING, and I have a much better taste than them in everything...including men! LOL I am mean! but it is the truth! mouhahaha...
  17. Ginger... I didn't order 2 dresses...I almost felt like those women who didn't know that they were carrying twins in the old times! I pulled one out from the DHL bag...then..oh..how come there is still smth in the bag?!?! lol Anyway, I am putting the blingy one on kijiji and maybe on this forum too...
  18. ok I finally found some time to goto my parents' place to pick up my wedding "stuffs", I had them ship to my parents place..because they always have someone home..if not ..they also got a big mailbox! LOL I actually got 2 dresses from babyonline, same size and same color..but one with blings and lace..the other one is only organza... I think they realized that they made a mistake..so they make a second one to correct their errors..and due to my very unique size...they just shipped me both.
  19. JQLong, Meeshie, I am sure u too heard about stories like an uncle gave $50, and brings his whole family to the wedding! Seriously..I don't mind to pay $25K for a wedding (and yes, that is what I am paying for mine in total, excluding my honeymoon in Asia), but I don't want to share a big dinner with a huge group of strangers. I would rather to enjoy it with very close friends and family.
  20. RGWedding, I think it will depend on your guests. Since I have the full range from age of 18 to 81, and tech addicts to tech retards..and from Hong Kong to Rome,,I just leave them to book for their own trip.. I personnaly prefer to book my trips online..and ABSOLUTELY...HATE to sit with a TA and waste 30-45 minutes of my time..listenning to her typing queries on her Saber system! However, my dumbo mom, who is lost / confused most of the time, would love to chat and book with a TA. Therefore..it depends on the type of guests. Ladies, After 9 times of correction/modification on my final invoice...I finally PAID and can look forward to my wedding.~ yeah~~~
  21. Rosieposie, Glad to hear that everything worked out at the end! STOP WORKING and TELL US MORE ABOUT UR WEDDING...NOW :-P
  22. Cupcake, It is a Monique LHuiller's Sunday Rose. You can see it in Say Yes to the Dress, where the mom told her daughter that she looked like a swiffer. LOL Sorry...again..I am laughing so hard now.
