Michelle, I think Mexicans are pretty hard working people. LOL unlike the Frenchs and the Bahamians. I guess the city hall only closes on Sunday. I don't think it is a hotel policy, because so far I am getting the same info on the witness and the # days of stay before the wedding from both the Barcelo and the Ocean Turquesa. You just have to check if that Saturday is a mexican holiday ( I don't think so).

WOW beautiful dresses, AishaB and Michelle, now I really wanna start look for my dress! My plan is to wait til summer, then get some tan and try on dresses. I live in a winter wonderland, so I am not motivated to walk in -10C from shop to shop, trying on dresses. I work in the financials industry, yes those who brought the whole economy to the brink, I have no problem on spurge on my rings, I see them as long term investment. However, I have difficulties to spurge on a dress that...I wear for 1 day, and I wanna do a TTD session. I love to watch Say Yes to the Dress for all the drama, but $10K for a puffy dress that makes the bride looks a mashmellow or a Micheline man...no thx. I found a site with dressmakers from China, they can duplicate designer dresses for $120-$200. I know it is risky, but hey..$120 is worth a try for a designer style, custom made dress. My parents don't wear their rings because of their jobs ( I never seen their rings), and still very in love with each others. I don't think wearing a wedding band guarantees a good marriage. Love comes from the heart, not from a diamond.

I have been to PDC 3 times in the past 5 yrs, you can find all the items mentionned above on 5th avenue, no problemo. It is a pretty "tourist-polluted" place (less than Cancun), u can find at least 3 Starbucks on 5th Avenue. You also find Tiffany and MAC, in case u wanna forget the waterproof mascara..or that pair of earrings.... do 1 round and compared prices, some shops are slightly more expensive than others.

OK Michelle...Saturday is OK. I just got a reply from the OCEAN TURQUESA's WC (a reply within 24 hours! I am impressed!) meanwhile I sent 3 emails to the Barcelo..and no bounce back..no reply ...nothing...it is like talking to a wall. that is what she said:"Be advise that in order to get legally married in Mexico the couple and their four witnesses have to be in the country 4 working days.( Legal weddings on Sundays and Mexican Holidays are not available, due the administration of the city hall)" Therefore, Saturday is GOOD.

Bikegirl, I totally agree with you on stackable rings. My dream diamond is a fancy light pink diamond, but I guess I have to work very hard and make a lot of alphas to be able to afford one. Michelle, What a nice ring u got! I am a fan of emerald cut diamond. You are very right, if u know a wholesale jeweller, u can save a tons of $$, at least 50% off the retail price.

hmm...I think I will just stack the rings up, because I want a pink diamonds eternity band and a canary diamond eternity band as well (to match my e-ring)...so stack up is the best option. I don't usually wear any jewelleries on me, and it took me awhile to get used to wear my e-ring on my left hand (paranoid that I may drop/loss it), so I will just stack the wedding bands up.

Tlseege, The pics are so nice!!! now I really wanna a TTD shoot too! -
I am also a 2011 bride, but I feel like a 2010 bride because I am planning everything so early. I have been to PDC 3 times already, really love the place. It has a church in PDC, next to the sea...and right at the heart of action! One idea of mine is to get the organza giftbags with personalized tags and then get small/medium size tequila from there.

Well, TA or not TA. The thing is I have 30-50 people, from Hong Kong, Perth-Australia, Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver, Morocco, Belgium, Italy, Arizona-USA. The TA manager told me, that 2011 Spring-Summer price will be out in Oct-Nov 2010, so it is too early to book. For Canucks guests, she can book with a group rate for plane-transfers-resort (usually not cheaper than regular online rate), for the international guests, they will have to book their own flights and transfer, and she can book the rooms with the group rate. All that is pain in the "bum bum" for me. As for the ring, my fiancé picked the same style as the Brad Pitt's wedding band (when he was with Jennifer Anston) in white gold (because platinum can get scratched easily), and I will have an eternity band with tiny pink diamonds and rose gold.

We decided to stop looking at the resort after that. However, since then I had the DW.com specialist send me some outrageous prices for other resorts (including the one we are booking, which she quoted at double what they are charging!). So I realized that DW.com only works with specific resorts, and they'll do/say anything to get you not to book at other resorts that you may like. However, by the time I realized that we'd already decided on Ceiba as our first choice, or else I would've gotten quotes from Ocean C&T from our new TA. So basically, if you are working with DW.com, then contact Ocean C&T directly to get their pricing! I met with a TA's manager ( I was ignored by one of their employee, so I filed a nasty complaint, and the manager met me to calm me down), she told me that group rates aren't better than individual online rate at the 1-2 before the chosen date, because the wholesaler can't sell those reserved spots to others, so they are charging a premium on it. Of course, if u have a 300 persons weddings, it is a different story, because u can lease a plane to goto mexico and have the negociating power. For less than 50, group rate isn't cheaper.

I agree...picking a place is the hardest part. I was going to pick the Barcelo Maya Palace...then I discovered OCEAN TURQUESA/CORAL, it is located in Puerto Morelos (a quiet fishmen village), I went there for snorkeling last year, it is a beautiful place, the beach was better than Playa Del Carmen and the GPB Tulum/Akumal, and the water too. It is closer to the airport and not as touristic like Cancun and PDC. So now..I am back to square one-> pick a place.

Michelle, I don't know if we can tie the knot on Saturday or Sunday. I remember that I saw a couple tied the knot in the Playa Del Carmen Church on a Saturday last year. I contact the Barcelo hotel's WC and she wrote smth like: "Please be advised that in order to have a Legal Wedding in Mexico, Groom, Bride and Witnesses MUST be IN the hotel 4 working days prior to the wedding date (Arrival date, Wedding date, Saturdays, Sundays and Mexican Holidays are not considered as working days). " I hope it helps!

Our wedding day is 1/31/2011 (a Monday) so we'll probably head over the Thursday or Friday before, stay 7 nights at Azul Beach, then go to Cozumel for a week for our honeymoon. To say I'm excited is an understatement! I'm so glad to be booked, and our wedding day is less than a year away. I know it's gonna flyyyyy by. Lots of decisions to be made still. Oh! And I bought my dress in October, too...it just came in last week. I'm so in love with it. I want to lose at least another 20 pounds (though 30 would be better) but it's a corset back so I should be able to tie it up tighter if I reach my goal. Here it is: Looking forward to reading about all your wonderful plans! It is a beautiful dress! Perfect for a romantic destination wedding! Too bad I don't have enough of front asset to wear a dress like this. LOL To lose weight, u can try to cut off the carb (no bread, pasta...ok..maybe some wild rice as a side dish to fill u up), one trick is to eat vege first at every meal...until u don't feel hungry anymore, then eat the proteins...if u still get rooms...fill in the carb (the key is don't eat until u feel full, otherwise u will overfed urself) and lower ur sodium intake (less water retention) a week before the wedding. GREEN TEA always helps! I was a fat chick before ( I meant fat for my own frame), and I lost 40 lbs and kept the same weight for more than 10 yrs.
