The whole reason why I wanted a destination wedding was so that I didn't have to stress! LOL. Also, part of the lag in communication time is my fault b/c I have taken more than a couple of days to respond back to her. I think someone asked me before about having 30plus people at the Brazilian restaurant for our welcome dinner. Gabriela did not indicate that it was a problem, so I'm just sticking to that. However, I will print out all of my emails with her and take them down with me...just in case That is good to know that they won't ignore me til the last minute! I will go there for an on site visite and decide.

I did get pricing for group bookings but they were on the high side and thought that I could wait since the hotel went ahead and confirmed the date without this information. My FI and I were at that resort in March 09 so we have a good idea of the layout of the resort and really loved it so much that it seemed perfect to return there for our wedding. Can't wait to move to the next step with the TA and get all the flights booked and secured. Congrats! It is a nice hotel! I went there with my bestfriend last year, nice beach and right in front of the reef. It was her first time in Mexico, and she had a blast! We also got a wedding reception hosted next to our room (located next to a pool), they were having a blast until 3 am, so we had to goto the lobby bar to kill some time. It was ok, because we chatted with other folks from Canada and England. However, like Dreams Tulum, it was a bit too far from the airport (like 2 hours, but very close to Tulum ruins and the amazing Tulum beach), some restaurants don't have AC (I saw 1 brit woman fainted in a buffet resto due to the heat), and food was ok and ordinary...(except the gourmet resto..which was WOW, but my friend was in the bathroom for the whole night, I didn't, I guess it was her, not the resto) For those reasons, I didn't pick this resort, because it is too far from the airport, and no AC in some of the restaurants (my wedding is in June and July). Otherwise I would pick it for the Tulum beach. Your wedding will be in March, so I guess u will be ok.

Actually, I am a tech geek, I did my bcom major in M.I.S with a minor in Finance, and thanks to the Tech Bubble, I ended up in Finance. I started my website with my own URL domain, uploaded our theme song, and a few pics of me, fiancé, and our sons (2 cats and 1 dog). But there are still a lot to be added. I will wait til I have my engagement pics taken, location+date set, then I will send out my STD with my website address. Plus my fiancé's families+friends are mostly french speaking folks from Europe, so the site is bilingual (double the work). However, I am very happy with the site so far...and will keep it on a CD after! heehee..what a geek!

Yeah, I saw that they can glue individual lashes on each lash now. It looks so nice and real. I am so tempted to try, but I am not sure how it will turn out. I have very short and downward lashes. I don't wanna come to work looking all weird too, I guess i will try them while I am on vacation or holiday.

I am about to book Cecilia Dumas to do my engagement pics in June, if the pics are nice, I will hire her for my wedding and trash the dress, if not, then..I guess Sascha Gluck will be the back up. However, if I win the lotto or the stock market goes up 50% this year, I will go with E. Medina (heehee....it is so good to have hope and stay positive). So far, I have no reply from Barcelo or Ocean Turquesa...But I guess I will visit both resorts in June and make a decision on the location and the date. It is hard when u are a chinese and u wanna follow the chinese supertitious calendar.

I received lots of compliments, and I am normally very picky and can do my own updo's, but am happy I had them do it. Now as far as my makeup, I have a makeup artist bridesmaid and chose to give my makeup session (strawberry package) to another one of my bridesmaids who doesn't wear too much makeup and wanted help. Her makeup looked great. I did my own makeup and had my experienced bridesmaid remind me to add more, because I normally don't wear a lot, I needed that reminder for photos, and she helped all my touch ups. I also had three other bridesmaids get hair done and they all turned out really nice. My big suggestion is taking photos/pictures/magazine cut outs of both hair and makeup so they know what you want. It appeared they were well experienced and could do what we showed them. Also, I am hoping to de-stress the email situation, and not be negative by any means, but the wedding coordinators really do not respond more actively until the last 4-8 weeks prior to your wedding. It is frustrating...but I have spoken to many Barcelo brides and it is what happens. I mention this because I notice brides that are getting married a year from now, and don't want you to stress that long If you are able to, I suggest doing a site visit. My Husband and I went last July and were able to find a last minute deal ($600 each including airfare and barcelo tropical) from NYC and we were able to meet with our wedding coordinator then. We gave a tentative date for the wedding, chose location sites, looked at flower choices, preliminary dinner choices from 2009 (which did not change much, just the price and names of packages) music, and so forth. This site visit made me feel so much more relaxed. I felt like I had made a lot of decisions then, and truthfully, Victoria our WC remembered it all. Once we had our room booked, for the wedding, we had our dates set. I realize it may not be possible, but it deal help with all the anxiety of questions and not hearing from them for periods of time. Sorry, I have written a book, I just wanted to share Thanks for the info, I am going down to Mexico in June to do a site visit and take my engagement pics, I wonder if I can go to Barcelo (just for visit) and stay at another resort (me and my fiancé prefer Adults Only resort)? Did any of you went to mexico and visit other resorts during your stay?

And the tip on the makeup. I dont wear alot of makeup normally so would hate to have loads slapped on, on the day! I may just do my own or get one of the girls to do it.... Did you use the resort hairdresser? How were they? It's been a week now since i heard from the resort and i'm trying to be patient. I'm probably just to eager, lol.... Michelle, Lucky you, it has been 2 weeks that I haven't heard anything from Barcelo. I would choose the Strawberry package (if I end up with Barcelo), the hairdresser seems to be fine there (from the pics I saw on this forum), except she may put tons of hairspray (from others' reviews). I guess I will do my own makeup, as I had horrible experiences with some makeup artists who tried to put smoky eyes on my asian eyes, and I looked like a panda!

hahaha...I can see u girls aren't into strippers. Hey, I am from Montreal, and for some reasons (maybe the french influence), we have a lot of strip joints here, so it's like a tradition to stop by one for bachelor or bachelorette party. It was so funny that one time, we found out that one of the popular male stripper at the joint has a MSc of Finance, and he too was studying for CFA exams.

I didn't think I would actually get a dress like this since I was so focus on getting a perfect dress that will suit mexico.. but the lady helped me and told me to try this one and it look so good on. I felt like I was a real bride and a princess! Very nice dress!! I won't start dress shopping until it gets warmers like 10C or more outside! However I really like Vera Wang's dresses.

THinking should I do them myself ahead of time or use theirs...if I DIY then should I ship...would that cost outweigh doing it myself... Also...what does Siggy mean?? hahahha I have no clue. I heard stories that the custom likes to hold on the MADE IN CHINA stuffs (it is very hard to find things that are NOT MADE IN CHINA nowadays), so I guess it is safer to bring it and pay the extra weight on ur luggage.

That is what I heard about at both of the resorts (The Barcelo and The Ocean Turquesa), and it tunes out that as long as u book a room for the vendors, they usually let them in. However, I guess I really need to sort this out.
