My fiance suggests that we just go to city hall before we go down, but I think that kind of defeats the purpose of going in the first place. Not sure about Alberta. In Quebec, I think we need the legal document from Mexico with their legal seal + translation + notory in order to make it legal. Therefore, it will be cheaper, simpler and easier to sign the legal paper in Montreal's City Hall or Court before/after the trip.

Now that I got a date and location. Snow is melting outside! I start to look at dresses. I took a look on the gilt.com, and LOVE that Alexander McQueen grecian style dress!! It is SOLD OUT! This one looks perfect for the reception! It is light I can eat all I want without worrying about...my expandable belly (my waist can go 2-3 inches more when I am completely full). I can try it on in Montreal too. This one is my dream dress...I will probably do a road trip to NYC or Toronto just to try it on.

With regards to Islepac one of my mates suggested them . Going to look into that idea. Tho joining this website has not helped keep my budget under control - i had never heard of an OOT bag before i joined now im obsesed with them and want to start shopping already! My other half just rolls his eyes - men just dont understand sometimes LOL :-) Josie, I know...I didn't know about OOT bags, TTD session before. I was more like Linhy's friend, thinking of just book a package, send out the invitations and show up in a white dress! Now, I have on my to-do list: engagement pictures, website, STDs, OOT bags, welcome letter, invitation, gifts ...photographer, videographer..TTD session. My FI is just like.."tell me the final damage and I will transfer the amount to your account!"

Actually, I just put a deposit yesterday to "reserve" the date and time for the gazebo, and the reception spot at the Royal Playa Del Carmen.

Granted, I'm sure that it's completely different when these places are the norm where you live, but we have nothing like them in America, and I'm so jealous that you all do:) I had a friend, who lives in Wales (her husband is in the RAF) but is from Surrey, and her wedding pictures were absolutely to die for. The wedding was at Wedding Venue, Conference Rooms, Deluxe Holiday Accommodation in Witney, Oxfordshire, UK. It made me want to do a DW in the UK!! I know, it is like those Fairy Tales' wedding location!! Castle...horse...garden..prince and princess! Not only the weather is usually bad in UK, their currency used to be so expensive too (like $2.20 CAD= 1 pound in 2008, now it is like 1.55 to 1). Maybe in 5 yrs, when the sterling pounds get crushed, then maybe UK can become a popular place for DW! heehee I considered to get married at the Disney World (because of the Cinderella Castle), but due to my severe allergy to kids (LOL), I crossed that idea out of my mind!.

$6000 is very very possible. $2000-$3000 for plane tix and 1 week of stay at the resort and some resorts offers free wedding or $1000 package that includes the essentials. You can add $1000-2000 for photos +video Guests can eat at the resort' resto, and drink all they want (no need to worry about extra food/drink cost). Of course, they have to pay for their trip and stay out of their own pocket. Just send ur STDs in advanced, so everyone can start budgeting. Just shop around and compare! This forum is extra helpful!

Once I am done, I will post it on this forum.

It couldn't be anything else for me ) Mexbride83 - I totally understand what you are saying. I to am petrified of flying but like you i dont let it stop me from going away. I have always had a fear of flying and also like you i panic at the thought of it. When we get to the airport i panic alot and it's not nice. I will not let it get in the way of my dream wedding in Mexico though. My dad used to fly every year then he stopped and he can't go back..... It's sad but it's our choice to marry abroad and i dont want him getting all worked up over it. He will be at the AHR so he's not totally missing out.. ) Ha ha that is so funny your FI is a pilot.....My fiance, son & daughter think i'm strange as they love flying. I just sit quietly, glued to my seat, jumping at the slightest turbulence! lol Michelle, heehee...like ur kids, I love flying as well, and I read stats that said there is a higher chance of dying in car accidents than in plane crashes. The weird thing is I love to watch a show called "Mayday" (documentary type of show on what went wrong in those major plane crashes) on Discovery Channel. If I make big bucks one day, I am sure I will sign up for a trip on the Virgin's Galactic plane! heehee

I will go with the eternal romance package and upgrade to have the private reception after. If it is needed, then maybe the Luxury package (I don't need all those ammenties..so still not sure), Aja said I can do the upgrade after anyway.

I have a question and was hoping someone could give me some advice! I have read through a lot of guest trip reports from the unoffical barcelo website. After reading through a lot I found that when people call ahead to try and request rooms they don't have any luck. Some people will ask for a 1st floor room close to the beach with a king size bed only to get there and get a room on the 3rd floor farthest from the beach with double beds. I could care less where our room is located. I know in the wedding package we are guaranteed a king sized bed, but I am mostly worried that the older people in our party will be stuck with double beds. I know the WCs try and put all the guests close together, but do you guys think the WC would help in arranging the best rooms for the guest too? Or do you think it is just the luck of the draw? Ughh…. Little things like this bother me! I think they will try their best to accomodate everyone's requests and needs. However, it will also depend on the season/ occupancy rate too.
