That time frame plus passes and no call about the other dress so she contacts them about her dress. They proceed to tell her no the dress is not there, they have no record of her info - name, payment invoice etc My MOH is now losing her mind trying to find the receipt but thank GOD she held onto the email they sent her about the 1st dress coming in. To make a long story short ... I can totally be like, "RELAX Ali, we have all kinds of time for these bumps and will laugh about this in a year." Something tells me if we were to fast forward 6 months - I might not be quite as cordial LOL Anyhoo, not only do I not think there is such a thing as planning too early - after this, I highly recommend it :-) It made the difference between this being a ranting vent and an oh well thank goodness I started early post LOL I totally agree with you! Imagine if something important that I ordered didn't show up at the last minute...I would probably tear those sales people/ reps into pieces.

I get so used to his snores that I would wake up whenever he left the bed for more than 10 mins (got up to watch TV or went downstair for a glass of water).

I also snagged my veils and still got everything including s&h for just under $500. IF everything pans out with the dress ... a definite deal and a half. Now its just the waiting game but here's to hoping :-) I checked Leah's website, and love the Pronovias Fada!

Just like engagement ring and wedding bands, some go for the simple design, some go over the top. For me, it is tough to justify the cost of 5K, I would rather put on my mortgage, honeymoon or wedding band...LOL I am still debating if I should bring my engagement ring to Mexico...

Just out of curiosity, do you happen to know if they do catholic ceremonies (chapel onsight)? Have you chosen your reception spot yet? Restaurant, beachfront? So far, I squat for a gazebo ceremony and beach reception...but it may change after my site inspection this June. I am anti-religious, but they do have a nice church right in the middle of Playa Del Carmen, so you can check it out. I know..for $900/hr, that is ridicules, corporate lawyers don't even make that much per hour. I won't spend that much on my pic, because it's very hard to justify the cost.
  7. Thx FutureMrsRobart! Actually my sis picked that dress, because they aren't tall (but want to look tall, so long dress was out of consideration), and they are size 0 flat chest, so they want to get something to create an illusion. hahaha I will definately check on the Leah's site.
  8. Lindobride, We picked the Royal Playa Del Carmen, because it is located right on Playa Del Carmen, so we can save on cab if we wanna go clubbing or shopping. Its sister resort is next door, so guests on budget or with kids can stay there and come over for my wedding. Sascha Gluck is great, similar style as Elizabeth Medina (of course her pics are very stylish and nice too, but it was over my budget), my god brother is a pro-photographer too, we picked Sascha after going thru a lot of portfolio and price/quality comparison. Ivan Luckies is good and very very good price too, but for $1000 more I would prefer Sascha, because I prefer his takes on light and contrast. Del Sol too was on my list, but again they are a bit over my budget. As life continues after wedding, I can't really too overspend.
  9. Have a Nice trip!! I will be there at the end of June (try to go around the same time to check the weather). Just booked Cecilia Dumas for my engagement pics (will be taken during my stay in June @ Playa Del Carmen), and Sascha Gluck for my wedding pics!!! yeah~

Today, I put a deposit for the engagement shots photographer, Cecilia Dumas, and my wedding photographer, Sasha Gluck. Therefore...Hotel wedding spot, reception spot BOOKED, photographers BOOKED, on site inspection BOOKED, STDs SENT!!! yeah~~~ Of course still have to find my dress! My sisters already picked their BM dresses.
  11. Nicola, Nice shoes! perfect for a DW. Michelle, Sorry to hear that! I know how you feel. My selfish dad isn't coming (not talking to/seeing him now, when I don't see him, I feel less upset), I don't have a MOH yet, because I have 2 candidates, one is waiting for her papers to emigrate to the USA and the other is trying to get pregnant.
  12. Nicola, Turquoise/Blue/Green shoes are rare. Out of my 50+ pairs of shoes ( I lost count of them, but my sister did a census 4 yrs ago, and 38 was the last official number), I only have 2 pairs that I can say are Turquoise, 1 baby blue, and 1 dark blue, 1 baby green with pink poodles prints. These are the 2 Turquoise shoes I have. Sorry for my dry legs and veiny feets.
  13. Michelle, Cute shoes! They look gorgeous! Nicola, Zappos.com really has a large selection. I saw mine in a shoe store, but they only offer them in black and didn't have my size. After 3 hours of internet searching, I finally found mine on Zappos.com which offers my shoes in white, size 6 and ships to Canada. Speaking of lactose intolerance (which I developed over time, I blamed so many icecream shop and restos for having hygiene problems before realizing that I was me and not them), I am picking my menu for the menu sampling in June, only realized that some of my guests have food allergies. So, no avocado, no sesame, no mango...no shellfish.

Funny story actually, with all the weight loss talk... So my fiance's MARRIED coworker just found out I'm a dietitian, and said to him "smart man, marrying a dietitian" and my fiance asked "why's that?" Coworker: "Because the only difference between a girlfriend and a wife is 30 pounds" My fiance thought that was hilarious, and I was thinking that if I was that man's wife I would kill him for saying that! LOL! Mexbride, I am very conscious about my lactose problem, so I have Lactaid pills with me all the time! Unlike my FI, who is also lactose intolerant, but would eat cheese, poutines, and other stuffs without any considerations!

P90X...I did plyometrics and abs last night and I'm totally feeling it today. I guess I should expect that from something called 'Ab Ripper'! Mexbride--You're right, the Priscilla in Tyson's is pretty limited. I actually found my dress at their store in Orlando where my family lives. It was huge and amazing. I tried on a Bliss dress at Hannelore's, the organza in the dress was really light and felt great for a DW. Here's my dress...it's lace with tulle at the bottom. Picking lace was a surprise for me: Amazing dress!
  16. Actually my FI is talking about losing weight/belly. Therefore, ladies, guys do care about how they look...heehee...Mexbride, you should help out other brides who wants to lose weight since you are in the field. Of course, my way is a bit unhealthy, being a hagen daz killer, eat out most of time, but I don't eat rice, bread, pasta (unless it is very tasty). However, maybe genetic plays a role too, my sisters are size zero and very bonely. I love those reality TV shows, but didn't have the chance to check them out, except Say Yes to the dress. So far, my FI and me got our shoes, and our site inspection trip booked. STDs done and website 75% finished.
  17. Michelle, WOW..what a dress!!! too bad that they don't have a store in Montreal, or else I will be in troubles! LOL. Nicola, Congrats! I am not an aunt yet, and have been always a bit "scare" of naggy kids, but I am sure I would be very excited if one day my sisters give me little nieces and nephews.
  18. Michelle, The shoes are gorgeous! Josie, I know I have seen brides in bright pink, blue and green shoes. and they looked fabulous. Mexbride, I know! my FI's divorced parents are coming (meanwhile, my parents who are still together aren't coming). My FI's childhood friends, aunts, uncles are also coming from France and Belgium, meanwhile...my parents who live on the same continent refused to take a 4.5 hours plane. I am so jealous!

Same thing in Canada, if you are looking for white satin shoes..they all look the same and around the same price regardless which stores you are going. Cole Haan offers white wedding shoes with Nike Air technology, which can be a nice choice, because it is more comfy (but they aren't cheap). On the other hand, a lot of brides are going for silver sandals/shoes. Keep in mind that we can always wear a silver sandal after our wedding...but the white satin shoes must be dyed in black...otherwise it is a bit weird to wear it as casual shoes.

  22. Nicola... wow..I guess I am no alone on this. I was so upset that I cried so many times and get teary eyes when I think about it. I am sure u know what I mean. Sometimes, we just can't change people's radical/weird views, but I can't really understand why parents want to disappoint/hurt their kids'feelings like this. Michelle.. Totally agree with you! It is totally a cop out. I think my dad didn't want me to goto Mexico, instead of DW, I can just sign the paper and host a family dinner. Because it will be much cheaper this way (again he is a very frugal man), but I am the one who is paying not him. Seriously, I accept being cheap is a choice of lifestyle, but he can't just impose everyone to be cheap with him. Imagine... I may regret for not having a nice reception for the rest of my life!
  23. Thx Michelle and Josie for the support and understanding...it is just I hate drama (negative, unnecessary and unproductive) and can't figure how my dad's logics work. I guess I am sort of giving up on him. He even said..disappointment is part of life. WTF is wrong with him? So now, I just focus on the positive things, like the whole planning process is exciting, I got my shoes..going to do site visit in June. I try to not think about it for now as there is still a whole year, and my 16 yrs old little brother said that he will replace my dad and give me away. Barbie girl...keep us posted! I wanna see the dress! heehee
  24. Nicola, No they don't come in Aqua, only in Black or in White. I ordered them from Zappos.com, because I can't find them in White in Canada, but I've seen the ones in Black in some shoe stores here. Oh...so many hair style! I haven't decide on which style I would go for yet. But all these styles are so nice and natural. As for the makeup, I think I would opt for smth very neutral, as I don't wanna look a 80s pornstar in pics. Latest drama, my dad decided he is not coming to my wedding! and my mom is sort of following him. I am very upset (wtf)! He is 51 yrs old, so it isn't a health problem. As they think if they don't come, then they will have the perfect reason to explain to my grandparents why grannies shouldn't come (again...weird logic) I also offered to PAY for their trip (my dad is a very FRUGAL man)...and then my dad thinks I am trying to "outpower" him on his decision (oki, now I think he is...CRAZY/ Psycho).
  25. Wow..I have been away from this forum for maybe ...48 hours and already..so much to catch up! I just got my shoes...heehee one thing off the list!
