(Sorry about the photo quality) Found them at Nordstrom Rack in the designer section for a cool $109!! In the photo they almost look a very pale light blue, but they're actually silver. It was a total Jerry Seinfeld marble rye moment. I spotted the only pair from down the aisle and all but pryed them out of this woman's hands. OK I'm embellishing, but I did almost knock someone over. I would kill for these shoes!! mouhahaha... they are nice!
  2. The Gaudi dress is stunning. I saw another bride trying it on her when I was at a bridal shop, and the flare/skirt is just..WOW. She is a 5ft 8, size 6 girl, so she look perfect in it!...I am so jealous! heehee
  3. Mexicans don't drink tap water like Canadians and Americans. All the resorts in Mexico offer bottled water, and filtered water. I went to Mexico almost every year, and never got sick because of the water. Most of the people who got sick because they were dehydrated, stayed under the sun too long and drank too much alchool (yes alchool dehydrates), and not enough of water. Muscle cramps, nausea, vomiting and abdo pain are signs of dehydration. Bring a bottle with you, refill it at the bar. I usually drink 1 glass of water with 1 glass of drink when I am grilling on the beach.
  4. Michelle, yeah..that was my concern too. My wedding is in July..so it will be HOT and SWEATY. but the dress is so nice...sigh.. Ladies, I like Mermaid dress too...except, they aren't for everyone, I have seen some brides who looked like a fat seal in a mermaid style dress. Since I am only 5ft3, I guess I will get another pair of killer heels, and wear it just for the ceremony and pictures, then change into another dress and comfy shoes for the reception. Barbie, your previous dress was nice, but if you don't feel it is the one, then hopefully this one will be the ONE...heehee...

Some formalwear stores will rent tan suits, but we didn't like them in person. We found one we actually did like for rent, and the rental cost was $200 given the length of the rental (over a week) Then we found that same suit that we liked for sale online: Sand 'Riviera' 2 Button Notch Destination Suit Coat (Sorry, too lazy to upload photo!) Jacket is 129 and pants are 80. They said they'd do 10% off since we're ordering so many. So for about $189 they can own it rather than waste the $ renting. Do you guys think that's too much to ask the guys to spend? Be honest if you do. The other option would be have FI wear the whole suit and the guys just wear the pants and white shirts. Keep in mind though that we're getting married in church so it's a bit more formal. I think the shirt and pants would look nice with brown sandals, but the guys are wearing dress shoes. $189 is cheap for a suit. I have seen a lot of guys with tan suits and dressy shoes in a church wedding from photographers' blogs in the area. My only concerns will be for some guys who doesn't wear suit often, $189 seems a bit excessive to buy smth that they will only wear once (they don't think like chicks who can spend thousands on a dress, and wear it once) and also the re-wearability of tan suits, again I don't see tan suits trendy or become trendy any time soon. How about light grey? light grey suit can look nice with white or pale blue shirts...just a suggestion
  6. I came across this dress, and somehow really like it. Except, I am not too sure if I will look good in a mermaid dress and if it will be too hot to wear that!LOL!

Plus I want them to be able to wear the dress again after the wedding. Shoes are no biggie, we're all going barefoot...and for the groomsmen, I was just thinking white button up shirt with khaki pants. Anyone else doing it this way, or does the cheese stand alone? Hehe. Nope, you are not alone. I am planning to have Aqua-Blue BM dresses and white shirts for the boys too. Mexbride, I love you dress! I also have my eyes on a mermaid dress...but not sure if I would look nice in a mermaid. I totally understand the problem of medical uninsured people in US, sometimes, I feel sorry for them. Don't get me wrong, I think universal medicare coverage isn't perfect, but at least it provide a better safety net for people. Michelle, I love your BM dresses! so cute and girly!

For the UK brides, Gordon Brown would look so smart and sharp next to George Bush and Sarah Palin.

I wish my FI would settle for a $20 ring, as matter of fact, we both got our engagement rings, yes.. he has a sapphire diamond band as his engagement ring and he wears it everyday (he is a very metrosexual guy). As for the economy, sigh...I don't know who to blame..should we blame the greedy bankers, the overspent consumers or the lobbied/legally corrupted politicians?
  11. Like I mentioned before...I can't change my lastname (too many divorced jokers here)and have to pay $500 to notorize my legal mexican wedding cert in order to make it legal here. Therefore, I will sign the legal stuffs here for $300 with a prenup and will, and get a symbolic ceremony in Mexico.
  12. heehee I know if I get the wedding bands now..I would want to wear mine like NOW..can't wait for another 14 months! heehee As for photographer, I already booked Sascha Gluck for my wedding and Cecilia Dumas for my engagement. My friend who is a movie director/producer will be my videographer. Recently, I think I went over 400 wedding coverages from different photographers. I ve seen some horrible wedding pics from my friend's wedding (she has to reshoot or hire a super good photoshop specialist to fix her pics), that is why I am super careful in selecting mine.
  13. wow..it must been exciting to check out the wedding bands! I have a size 4 finger (so far I haven't found a store that has a size 4 eternity band for me to try on), so I am thinking maybe check them out in Hong Kong this October. I am still 14 months away...but since I already put down a deposit to secure the date and location, I will just be patient and book when the price come out and down a bit. FMIL just came back from Belgium, and FI just told her the date, and she was like..Oh I have to start to lose weight and look for my dress! I guess not only the brides are excited about dresses and weights, but FMILs too!

I hope your FI's trading platform didn't went down today (usually, discount brokers' trading platforms tend to crash/have malfunctions when the market is volatile and volume spikes). Of course, then there were those who had their orders SENT during the system outage but didn't know if they get fills or not...meanwhile the market moves super fast!
  15. wow...great stories! Josie..yours sounds so Murray Show or Jerry Springer for sure! What a busy day for me! The market was so nervous on Greece, England's election..and that loser trader who pushed the wrong button in the afternoon!

The Barcelo WC used to get back to me 3 wks later, the Ocean Turquesa took 2-3 days...it depends on how busy they are...so..just be patient!

My fiance is actually the brother of one of my good friends! We first met at a party she had in high school when her parents were out of town (he was 21 and up from college, he and his friends bought the alcohol hahaha). We had a brief romance then, stayed in touch through here over the years, and then "re-met" when he was in town visiting her one weekend... we've been together ever since (2 years now). Me and my FI met in our GMAT prep class. We were with someone else at that time, went out for like a dinner to exchange notes and somehow kept in touch thru MSN messenger, just say hi..how are u..etc...a year after we re-connect again, we've been together for 4 yrs (bought a house and live together for 3 yrs). My FI always said that his $300 investment on that GMAT class was the best investment, because he didn't go for his MBA, but now he is sleeping next to a MBA! heehee

Watch this space x We got engaged in Nov 2001... haha, we have had a v. long engagement :-) If i knew then what i know now, LOL :-) xox WOW...that is really a long engagement! My friend was the opposite of you, she met a guy in Oct, and got married by August the following year! I am not sure if she made the right choice, but I would prefer a long engagement, so I can get to know the person better! Congrats again!
  19. So far, I went to PDC 3 times, in July, I got 1 day of rain out of 7 days, it was like 3 hours from noon to 3pm. In Sept, 1 hour of showers in the afternoon for 2 days out of 7 days, and in Oct, I got 2 nights of rain out of 7 days (only at night).
  20. I will wait until the next January to book. We have 3 tour operators here that offer packages to Royal PDC, so there is no rush, and I will book it ONLY when the prices are right.

I've learned so much from this thread (it helped me decide on the location), so thanks already for all the great info you all have given me. A couple questions for you all: 1) Which photographers did you all decide on? I'm kicking around like 5 right now. 2) Has anyone worked with Rebekah? She's my stateside WC, and she's been super fast. So excited to get to know you all! Me too, I have been a passive member on this thread, and it has been a great help. I am booked for the 4th of July 2011. I decided to use Sascha Gluck as my photographer for my wedding, and Cecilia Dumas as my engagement pics photographer. Aja is my WC, so far so good! I am looking forward to my site visit in June.

I love the dresses online and am going to check them out next week when I'm in DC! No, I haven't check Monique Lhuillier's Bliss collection! but NOW, I am going on Kleinfeld Bridal's website! heehee
