I'm going to be doing different dresses in the same color for the bridesmaids. i'm not sure if I still want them in yellow. I might have them in blue. i'll figure it out. wow! that is good to hear that you are moving forward! I guess once you see the dress, it will be even more REAL! kekekek...me too I will goto PDC for site inspection and menu sampling in less than 2 weeks, so I can see if I need to change the time/location (since I already reserved the Gazebo for the ceremony and the beach for the reception initially..heehee). My dress and BM dresses will be shipped on 22nd of July...so EXCITED!!

Bonnie, can you tell me who the dress manufacturer is that you ordered your dress from? Worse case scenario, maybe I will just have to have one custom made to my measurements. Can I show them the picture of my dress and have them recreate it? Lindobride, what is the name of your dress? I PM you, and you can go on those site..and see what the Chinese can do for you. Pronovias are made in China, your chance is good.

Josie, wow! I bet you got a good deal on your dress! Can't wait for the 25th to come! heehee... while I was researching for my dress, I learnt the "Source" of wedding dresses is located in Tiger Hill, Suzhou. People can pick whatever they can imagine or like ...and they can alter a dress in 2-3 hours! Pretty efficient! Price are from $50-$150 USD on average.

It is like going up on the food chaine. I would say 95%+ of them (LaSposa, Pronovias, San Patrick, Maggie Sottero...even Vera Wang) are from China, so I start to look where those manufacturers are located. Almost all of them are located in the Suzhou/Hanzhou area, where they produce silk as well. God created the world, and everything else is made in China. I found a wedding dress manufacturer that sells to Europe and North America bridal shops, after reviewing their works and previews comments from their clients, I picked them and I sent them the pics and website where they can see the details. They were very very nice by telling me that they can make the dress, but it will require longer time because of the amount of beadings, laces, and appliques that need to be hand sewn on the tulle and on the skirt. For my BM dresses, they charge $70 each, and will be made according to my sisters' measurements, with extra straps/belt to prevent the dress from falling off, again my sisters are very flat and skinny too. Save me some $3000, plus alter..because of my super thin frame, I am sure I would get charge $500 to alter a standard size dress to fit me. I get an unique custom made gown and made to fit me. I will see how the dresses come out and will let you girls know!

So I met with my three "mom's" today and we picked out the bridal shower venue! Remember the whole open bar dilemma I posted a few weeks back?? Well, we decided to do sangria and Corona's as our signature drinks I am very happy with that. Anyone that knows me knows of my love of sangria!! The venue is beautiful and the menu looks just wonderful! Butler passed hors d'oeuvres: Assortment of bruschetta (olive, tomato and roasted pepper with feta) Soup: Cream of mushroom with pasta. Main course: Stuffed chicken breast - stuffed with spinach, garlic, & roasted pepper; Garlic whipped potatoes; and roasted vegetables. Dessert: Fresh strawberry cheesecake with chocolate sauce. Making me hungry just thinking about it We went with white table linens with criss-crossed table runners in hot pink and coral satin (our colors) and alternating coral and hot pink chair sashes. I am drooling..just by reading the menu! I love sangria and Corona too! heehee it is so nice to have all sorted out! I am sure u will have fun and very happy with the gifts ..heeheee

But I really like all the lace, appliques of the first one...so I also ordered a 4 m long veil to have the same appliques and lace as the dress. I guess the dressmaker will spend a lot of time sewing those appliques on the tulle..heehee

I have to find somewhere that is reasonably priced and allows little ones for my nieces. Any tips will be much appreciated! Hi Sweetie, I am getting married at the Royal Playa Del Carmen, a sister hotel of the Gran Caribe Real. The wedding packages are the same for all the Real Resorts, some have a Chapel, most of them have a Gazebo. Their onsite Wedding Coordinators seem to be very very good, but I think they are closing their Michigan office (which was very helpful for anxious/demanding brides like me to ask questions). Their menu looks good, I pick the Eternal Romantic Package, and may upgrade to the Luxury one, because there are so many things that I don't need in the luxury one... There is a thread for Gran Caribe Real brides on this forum, so you can lurk to see other brides reviews.

Kerry, I saw ur dress on the other thread. It looks amazing! and the price is GREAT! I didn't order from the same vendor, because my dress is a bit more complexe, they quote me $180 (more than 50% off than what I paid)but the pics of previously made dresses in appliques, laces, crystal were not that wow. So I went with another one. I am so happy for you! I hope mine will turn out as great as yours!

It is basically the dress that I shown on this thread a few weeks ago. But I make it strapless with no sleeve (the collar and sleeves are a bit hot for a July wedding in Mexico), and add some beadings at the empire waist area to define my waist/bust area..since I am very skinny, and very flat or my FI called it very "sleek". It is a mermaid style plus an A-line tulle on top of the mermaid . The appliques, lace, paillettes of the first dress with the shape and the waist beading of the second dress. I like it because it is mermaid style, but flowy, and forgiven..if I have a little beer belly after a few beers. I ordered it with a wedding dress manufacturer in China, because it is cheaper ($410), and it is tailor made to my measurements. One of my chinese friend's wife ordered the San Patrick's Palma, and after alterations, they chopped off a lot of the mermaid tail (because she is like 5ft tall)...she looked like a squid/white tube from the front, the back/catheral train was still very beautiful. That is the problem with alters ..sometimes, the dress don't look the same after a lot of chopping and cutting. It is the first dress in the first youtube video, and the last dress in the second youtube video. YouTube - EnzoaniBridal's Channel YouTube - EnzoaniBridal's Channel

yeah..Alternation can cause an arm and a leg. My friend who bought a sample La Sposa dress for $1000, instead of $1700 plus taxes. The bridal shop told her that if she wants to change to a lace up back, it will be $100-$200, to add 3 buttons so that she can lift the train for dancing, it will be $20 per button, make it shorter by 1 inch ($200). Ka$hing..Ka$hing...

Nice! Nicy, you are so crafty! Lindobride, you can check on Etsy to see if you can find them, I think I saw a few of them on Etsy while I was looking for a big purple orchid to match my bridemaid dress. Or you can get fresh ones from your resort's spa, I saw some brides got fresh real orchids on their hair from some wedding pics.

Here is what I mean by...very complicated dress. I got this pic from Duosheng as..their version of the legendary Vera Wang Diana dress. The top 60% is almost 95% exact...but the bottom 40% is total off and weird (it looks like it went throught a paper shredder). It is still a nice dress, but very far away from the original.

Sorry for the photoshop effect..due to the change of weather, my skin isn't very optimal for pics..heehee for less than $10, it is big and very nice (hard to beat indeed!). now I just need a $30 veil or a $15 birdcage veil from Ebay or DHgate to complete the look. Nicola, Take your time, I am sure there will be tons of headpieces at H&M and other shops for the holiday season. Besides, your flower with blue stones is very nice. The thing with headpieces is that..they don't show much details in the pics, and no one (except the bride) really cares or look them closely. The dress on the other hand gets much more attention. In this economy with so much uncertainties, we have to spend wisely.
-
Nicola, I got it at Forever 21, an American version of H&M, funky and cheap fashion for teens. Most of the headpieces are like above $100 at bridal shops, very simple veils were like $180...I will just pick up bits and pieces from stores like Forever 21, H&M and Internet. Since I can't re-wear them after my wedding day, so...there is really no point of spurge on hairpieces. Especially...when they are all MADE IN CHINA regardless what price you pay.

Thanks alot!! I'm sure people will be nice I just didn't or don't want to feel out of place. This is what I need to hear though. You won't feel out of place! One time I saw one chinese couple (from Mainland China 110%) pasty white skin..walking with an umbrella all the time (not a trendy parasol), but the funniest moment was when the guy went into the water with a t-shirt and swam like a dog with his black plastic frame 1980s glasses on him...LOL...

But, she wrote back and wanted my measurement from my head to my heels, so I gave that to her, too. Now I'm worried that she might somehow get the dress made in the length that goes form my head to heels, instead of shoulder to heals. I'm so scared! I mean, why would a seamstress need to know what my height, starting from the top of my head, is? I really don't know why, but I guess it is a double check system..to make sure everything is in proportion.

So I would hate to have my friends and family be uncomfortable because we are not treated fairly. I actually haven't said anything to anyone else about this. But i'm really feeling nervous about it. Mischaka, Don't worried, Mexicans are very racial friendly and treat every guest with great service and smile. I've been to Cuba, where Americans' can't go, so there were all Cubans, UK folks, French folks, the rest of Europeans, Canadians and French Canadians. People got along fine, and no racial issue there. Last time, I went to Mayan Riviera, me and my best friend met several black families, 1 group of italians (always drunk), a lot of UK folks (very cool and some were smashed as well), the pair of constantly "picky" French, a bunch of French and non-French Canadians...everyone seemed to be very happy and had a great time!

I'm already looking into how to file a complaint with PayPal, for just in case. Lol. Ah..nice dress! I have been lurking this thread for a while...from what I saw...as long as your dream dress is simple, or..normal style...most of the chinese folks can replicate it without..any major problem. Of course..the fabric and some details may be off ..from time to time. Not to mention that Pronovias, LaSposa, and San Patrick dresses are all made in China, so I guess some folks may have the real patterns to replicate the dress at 90%+. However, if your dream dress is a bit complicated..like the Vera Wang Diana dress, then you may reconsider before you order it.
