Thx ladies. They are super easy to make, and they can be convert to a hairpiece/brooch after (once I glue an aligator clip at the back). It cost much less than $20, which is approx. what my resort charges for a corsage or a buttoniere. My FI is asking me to make a few flower broochs for his aunts. Also I m thinking maybe make some flowers thread, attach them on the gazebo. I think I saw a bride this that on the Barcelo Mayan Palace's gazebo with fresh flowers.

Ok..I moved my bum bum a bit today. Since I refused to pay extra for the men's boutonnieres and the ladies' corsages with fresh flowers. I decided to make my own with organza flowers, and will add some sanddollars and mini starfish to complet the pieces.. This is my first trial of ....organza flower in turquoise & white.

Michelle, It is your day (regardless if it is ur first marriage or not) to celebrate that you've found your other half, so just pick whatever you feel like to wear. My tulle + lace cathedral train dress isn't really ideal for a beach wedding neither, but hey..I like it There are plenty of Pronovias/LaSposa and Maggie dresses that fit a destination wedding on the beach. However, if your heart wants a puffy princess dress, then go with a puffy dress. I've seen brides with fat puffy dress on a beach, so I don't think it is that inappropriate. Â

You still have plenty of time! I am getting married in July 2011, so I am way way in advanced. I would recommend to order the dress 6 months in advanced, that give time for the dressmaker to make the dress without rushing, and plenty of time for alternations (if it is required). You don't to leave it as a last minute thing and create unnecessary stress. You can order ur dress with lace up back, that will give more room for future weight gain/loss. Â

Monique, Â I would recommend you to goto a bridal store and try on different style of dresses before buying one online based on the model pic. A lot of brides who ordered online got disappointed because the reality is a bit far from what they imagined at the beginning. Sometimes, they said..never a mermaid style, and found out after a trial session that..they look the best in mermaid style! I tried on numerous of tons of dresses and got very discourage (due to the ugly styles and my super tiny body that doesn't fit in a size 10 sample dress) before I decided to order online with a chinese dressmaker. If you find a designer dress that u like at a deep discount at a bridal store like in a sample sale, just get it (if it is within ur budget)! So that u can have a peace of mind. Because order online is risky, and can make you very nervous. Â

Cookie, Â Â My dress is a goddess empire waist style, mermaid satin skirt underneath with an A-line tulle overlay on top. I got the inspirations from a dress in the Enzoani 2010 collection, but I added my own twists. Thus it is a custom dress which my sis said it looks like the Sailormoon dress. I ordered it in late April after 2-3 months of research and communicating with different dressmakers, and got it in early July. However, they warned me that they need more time to make my dress, because I asked for so much beadings (such as pearls, sequins, crystals on the bodice, on the tulle and on the satin) and lace appliques on the hem..oh plus a super long matching veil with the same lace and beadings. Therefore, I think if you are ordering a maggie dress, they will take 10-15 days to make it instead of 2 months. They sent it thru EMS, and the Canadian customs didn't pick it for random checks...so I didn't pay any charges/taxes. Here is the link to the pics of my dress. warning: I took them after work while my FI was away with my tripod, so...the lighting wasn't good..and I looked very blah, so please just focus on the dress. http://s894.photobucket.com/albums/ac147/prettypigpig/the%20dress/ Oh btw, I just saw a bad review on their dhgate page on color differences between Royal Blue vs Hunter Green. I ordered my dress in white, and it looks pretty white to me. I also order 2 BM dresses in different colors from them (on in Pink and one in Aqua Green, they came out like their color chart's colors. So...I think that buyer is really colorblind...LOL. Ok, my dad is colorblind, and he can't tell diff between Blue and Green. Sigh, online business is tough!

Mocha.. LOL. Seriously, it is hard to not..try it on..sigh! I think I need to buy another dress for TTD or AHR or some other excuses, so I can spread my trials among dresses instead of just one dress. Rachel, I agree with you on this. All the Maggies, Pronovias, LaSposa, San Patrick are MADE IN CHINA. Thus, they are oversea dresses as well, but brides pay a $700-$1000 premium on quality control.

The veil costed around $40-$50, it is a 4-5 meters long mantilla veil with the same lace and beadings as my dress. I didn't pay any taxes and duty ( I think the custom randomly picks which package to check and charge). It took 4 biz days to ship from China to Montreal and the dressmaker tracked it. I had it sent to my parents' place, and I didn't know it arrived until the dressmaker told me over the chat that someone called "Ming" (my dad) signed for the package.

one of the TA that I went to told me that group rate is not equal to discount rate, because it is like you pay a premium to squat on a block of seats and rooms, meanwhile the airlines and hotels can't sell them. As for hotel got sold out, when I went for my site visit in June, I was told the Royal PDC was sold out on that week, so I booked the Gran Porto (sister hotel next door), then I was offered to upgrade to the Royal for $50/night/room (cheaper than the Royal's regular rate). The thing is some hotels "reserve" a block of rooms for "timeshare" folks with availability guaranteed, and only release the room at the last minute. The deal time is usually 3-4 months before the week, and if your wedding date is on a popular week, then better book earlier.
