  1. Nicola, Your dress is so lovely! Nan, Only the white ones got rhinestones, the pink one doesn't. I read on Zappos about how comfy they are, I guess they aren't made for the whole day walking and standing. I will add gel pads. heehee but hey even the Cole Haan Nike Air ones aren't that comfy if I wear them and walk for 20 mins, so I guess I will bring a pair of platform flipflops for plan B.
  2. Mimi, Congratz. $130? wow..what a deal! Peterpan, it is ok. Like my FI said..just keep it under 5 dresses! lol
  3. There is a thread dedicated to replica aka knockoff dresses on this forum, in which I frequently comment on. You can check it out, there are tons of pics. $150 is totally feasible.
  4. Murmel, They are in white satin with a blue sole (aka bottom), I just find the rhinestones I DO pretty cute. They are Pour La Victoire Bridal, you can buy them at Zappos which ships to Canada...mouhahaha.
  5. ok these shoes (when order in white), it comes with a tiffany blue sole that says " I DO" in rhinestons. They are super cute.
  6. FutureMrsYak: Positive Vibes~~~~~ I just found out today that I can only get direct flights to Cancun from Montreal on Saturday, my wedding will be on a Monday, so it will be super tight in terms of schedule. However, I really don't wanna stuck 2 hours in the TO airport.
  7. Thx girls! Nan, my color theme is turquoise blue and pink. For flowers, I will use roses and orchids. Chair sash will be organza bow in turquoise. I haven't thought of the AHR that much yet, because it is still too far away...hahahaha I will book my hotel-plane package in 2 weeks, then I guess I will move my bum bum more! heehee
  8. TSBride, Girl, you should never try on a dress that is way above your price range. This is a big no no. Romona is like Vera Wang, it is not a Maggie or Angelo, it is super luxe to touch and wear. Usually, you can get it as a sample or 2nd hand at 50% of the original tag price. Ok, from what I see, the original dress is made with silk taffeta. Therefore, a replica will not have the same texture, shine, feel and weight than the original dress. Silk is lighter, the shine is more subtle, and it is smoother than the synthetic fabric. it is not hard to replicate, but it will look and feel different. If you are mentally prepared, you can try to contact Monica Bridal or Babyonline to get a quote. Monica Bridal has silk fabric upon request (at a premium cost).
  9. hmm..they are wildlife, so usually they are not allowed. However u can smug them in, because they don't check everyone at the Cancun airport. You can also spreadout the risk, like each of your close relatives carry a few of them for you. Just bring spare paper place card for Plan B.
  10. hmm...I don't think the drapes and folds can be replicate 100%. Who is the designer? However, If you already try the original dress, u may get disappointed. Maybe you can get it during a sample sale.
  11. TSBRIDE, I think more detailed pics to see other sides of the dress will be helpful to any dressmaker. From what I see, it isn't a difficult to replicate.
  12. This is so meant to be! While I was browsing online..and looking for ideas and inspirations.. I found these shoes! lol
  13. Diahr, This is the rates I got back in April 2010. If your relaltives want to save $$$, they can stay at the Gran Porto next door, it is cheaper and they don't need a day pass on your wedding day. THE ROYAL in Playa Del Carmen-Day Passes 9am – 5pm $85 12pm – 5pm $65 5pm – 11pm $85 9am – 11pm $145
  14. Giraffex, Congratz! I can't wait for your review and pics! Danielle6680, There is a desk for USD exchange in the resort, the rate is better than what restaurants and shops on 5th Ave offer (if you pay in USD). You can get the best rate at the exchange shops on 5th Ave and HSBC Bank in PDC. You can also ask your credit card provider to see what is their policy on exchange rate, because some of them offer extremely competitive rate (even better than some banks' rate). I had my Bloomberg remote access with me, so I check the exchange rate every morning after breakfast...LOL (what a maniac!) I did a check during my last visit, here is the ranking: Best deal to Worst deal 1) HSBC Bank in PDC (but it is always crowded with long line-ups) 2) My BMO mastercard (it offers daily rate set by Mastercard plus 2%) 3) Currency Exchange Shops in PDC 4) Royal PDC Currency Exchange Desk 5) Local shops and restos when you pay in dollars (the spread can be 15% and more), of course for small purchases, you won't notice it, but it does add up. Diahr, Don't worry too much (yes I know you are upset, bitter, and very wtf), as time goes by your in-laws would realize how inconsiderate and unreasonable they are, and they will change their plans. My parents offered to host my AHR (after more than 6 months of my rant rant across the Pacific Ocean and cold laser stares) , because they still find it tough to ask my relatives to fly all the way from Perth, Australia or Hong Kong to Mexico, so they still not coming. However, it is OK for them if relatives come to Montreal, but Cancun..is a no no (even it is only 3 hours of plane more). At the end, it is your day not theirs. I continue to plan my wedding the way I envision it, and I am sure my parents will be like "#$%$^%$ we should have been there" when they see my pics. LOL God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference...
  15. Nan, I will get married at the Royal PDC, ceremony and cocktail at the Gazebo, and reception at the Gazebo beach. Since I fancy a long and romantic dress, my wedding dress has a long catheral train with lace and tulle (I can't add bustle buttons because it is a mermaid skirt with a-line tulle overlay), it will be nice on the pics, but not so ideal for dancing or even walking around.
  16. Nan, Not really special, but it is just that my wedding dress has a lace and tulle catheral train and I will have a beach reception, so I just don't want to catch any turtle and fish! hahaha it is just easier with a shorter dress, and I will probably wear this one for my at home dinner party.
  17. Diahr, I am on the same boat with you! Except, it isn't my in-laws, it is my own parents! They were excited at the beginning, renewed their passports. All of sudden, they backout! My parents earn more than me (each of them, not combined), I make 6 digits alone too. I was like WTF! I cried in front of them when they told me that ( I got an asthma attack because I was crying so hard!!)! I refused to talk to them and rant rant to my grandparents in Hong Kong and Australia for months. My little siblings who work part time are saving like mads to come, and their parents are too cheap to come. My FI's family lives in Europe, so they will fly 7-8 hours and join us. His parents are divorced, and both of them will join us too! It is f**** embarrassing! My parents are together, and they are too cheap to come. My 17 yrs old little bro will replace his dad to give me away. OK, one thing I need to explain. In chinese culture, whenever u invite people to come from far, you need to pay or contribute to their travel expenses, so my parents felt obligate to pay for all the family members who live in Asia...so since they are cheap, they decided to not go! If they aren't going, then they don't need to invite their family and friends. I think the reason why your in-laws are backing out is that they feel bad to ask family and friends to pay $$$ and travel that far knowing some may not make it. Now I will give you some hopes. After months of ranting and acting like a kid, my dad said he will pay for an AHR, so I can calm down.
  18. as a Canuck, I will save and wait for the boxing day to buy my stuffs! heehee I got my reception dress.
  19. M00sie, I can't wait for your pics!!! Ok girls, here come my reception dress. The original is the Vera Wang Magnolia. I ordered in Barbie pink and no train because I want to move and dance. Again, I don't have the common 2 sizes too big issue.
  20. WOW! Congratz! Lisa..you hooked a canuck! lol Thx! I love your planning thread, now I have more inspired ideas!
  21. wow..nice dress, Monica Bridal usually delivers the quality, just sometimes...the size is too big for some unknown reasons.
  22. Michelle, hahahaha...I do have a mini winter tire! Unfortunely with tires...the only way to melt them is to burn more calories, sit ups and other crunches will not help. I can have a nice 6 packs, but they will be hidden under my layer of fat. I do realize that there is no way I could lose that mini tire, because I do want live nicely and not be deprived from all the goodies like wines, icecream ...etc. I will just cut my sodium intake (very hard to do, since I have biz lunch everyday), I would probably lose that 5 lbs of water, and get more toned arms and legs with pilates.
  23. My Goals: No more than 5 dresses!! Stay within budget. Loss 5 lbs and tone my arms
