  1. hahahaha my FI picked linen pants, because his legs aren't that photogenic! Thus linen shirts and pants for all the boys, no tie (I think it is very cruel to ask men to wear ties or suits when it is 35C in July)
  2. Mocha... Ginger is a federal employee, so she knows that the $25/h postmen aren't working today..heehee! Ginger, I think the package is ready and waiting for postmen to get back to work! ah...can't wait to see the pics with u in it.
  3. Imara, I am a 90lbs chick, so I don't have any meat to "grab" the dress! and the elastic straps don't help that much! fashion tape is the answer!
  4. diahr, I am a Royal PDC bride too. is ur prospect Adrian? I think Lindobride booked him and her wedding is before ours.
  5. both babyonline and monica bridal add those elastic belts inside their dresses. I don't find them that useful, thus I will use fashion tapes as extra precaution!
  6. Cookie, It is only in Canada. In US, they don't do it at all! Same thing with a fancy watch or ring when u enter the border, the custom would ask for proof that u didn't bought it outside of the country. My sis works for the Federal, and she is completely a psycho, trying to recoup every cent on a dollar.
  7. I know...but weird thing is the mouse, the monkey and those calorie counting people featured on Oprah..they don't look like STARVED at all, and they look lean and healthy. 8. hahaha...well, when a resort is struggling, they need the cashflow now! and with time value of money at 0% shorterm interest rate, it is better get the buck today, because it isn't going to worth more in the future!
  9. hmmm..back to a more normal wedding topic (ok, I find diet is more a lifestyle topic and some brides are more motivated to make a change in order to look good in their dress and bikini), have u girls pick the first dance song yet? So far I like The Look of Love (not the version sang by the tranny Diana Krall, but the original version), The Blower's Daughter, and When Stars Go Blue.
  10. Here is the links...apparently it works on monkeys and mice...well, I can't tell the differences except one monkey/mouse is skinnier than the other one. http://www.nytimes.com/2006/10/31/health/nutrition/31agin.html?pagewanted=1&_r=1 on humans...well..Nan, it looks like I will still get wrinkles..lol! http://www.oprah.com/health/Dr-Oz-on-Living-Longer-with-a-Calorie-Restriction-Diet/print/1 Ok..I am reading The Globe & Mail... a xmas dinner with turkey, all the trimmings and 2 slice of pie = 4,575 calories To burn that => 4 hours of jogging, 3 hours of ice skating, 5 hours of lifting weights and 3 hours of walking around the hood delivering holiday cards
  11. heehee I don't like to eat bread and lactose intolerant, so I don't like pizza. I can eat steak tartar with roquette lettuce/ sashimi with seaweed salad everyday! no fries, no pasta, no bread, no rice, no fruit, because I just don't like to eat them. Well, the reason of no research on it, like I said, 99.99% of mom would stuff their kids in the morning, therefore, it would be hard to find a good sample size of breakfast deprived kids to begin with, then control their food intake, and measure if it is statistically significant. Secondly, I don't think food companies lobbied government would fund such a research. Duh~ of course, Kellogs and General Mills would love people to eat complex carbs every morning, noon, afternoon and night. Just like no research/thesis on how to beat the market from the Finance faculty, because those who found the way would NEVER publish their research. LOL Thus, all we found in the research world are usually very repetitive topics with similar conclusions, breakthroughs and contrarians are rare nowadays. Well, Nan, according to my old copy of Economist, it is very creepy. The constantly starved rat died around the same age as normally fed rats die, but it didn't have any signs of aging on its apperances, no white fur, no aging signs in its organs too. Not sure if it can be applied on a human.
  12. Oh yes Chicago bride...u will see it on ur "new" contract! I changed mine from a package to a la carte, and then...dun dun dun dun~~ the $300 pops out! Ok, since I deal with legal contracts all the time, I spotted it like...instantly! and I was like wtf?!
  13. heehee...As a black sheep, I rarely eat breakfast since my childhood, and I don't eat breakfast. I don't skip it like starve myself in the morning, I just don't feel hungry until noon (ok if I eat breakfast, I tend to feel zzz all morning and afternoon, I guess I just feel too full). As for memory, I have photographic memory even at age of 30 with 20 yrs+ of alchool consumption, straight A student, IQ of 160. As for weight, still 90 lbs, 5ft3. My siblings too, all skinny and don't eat breakfast. My theory is if ur mom fed u breakfast when u are a kid ( I guess 99.9% of mom do feed kids in the morning with some sort of cereals or bread or junks), then u have to eat breakfast in order to kick start ur day and keep the whole machine sane. My mom doesn't eat breakfast, so she never got up and feed her kids in the morning (and yes, her mom used to fed her in the morning when she was a kid), so yes..my mom is the fattest person in my family. My take is stay with your habit (if u eat breakfast, keep eating ur breakfast), and don't overfed yourself. You need to shovel snow for 3-4 hours to burn 2000 calories. Forget the 4000 calories xmas dinner, it will take weeks to burn it off ( assume u can move ur bum bum enough to burn it off)! One of the sick article I read on Economist or Bloomberg recently on caloric deficiency (may explain why I am skinny without breakfast, no workout, and get my ID check at liquor stores), said smth like if a mouse is fed with minimal food intake (practically starving), the mouse would live the same length as a regular mouse with normal diet, but died without any sign of aging (just drop dead). yeap, when I read it, I found it really creepy. I think another bride told me that Oprah did a show on this topic as well.... Of course, genes may play a role too.
  14. Suzy, it is part of the new contract. If u signed yours before this summer, the contract only require $200 to squat your date and location. The new contract requires $200 to squat the date and location, and $300 after (to improve the resort's cashflow).
  15. Mexbride, it always feels great when u are doing smth that can make a difference! Smille50, You should ask Mexbride, since she is an expert in nutrition. You are right! Holiday is a challenge, I am in charge of the food this year, when I look at the menu...errrr...it doesn't look like anything for anyone who wants to be on diet! lol. Except for my mom, everyone in my family are under-weight, so we tend eat until we get bellied up! lol
  16. GC2008, hahahaha I bet ur Tulum guests will be very disappointed with their choices! heehee. First it is very far from the airport (I got drunk after a girls dinner in PDC and slept for 1hour in a cab and still didn't make it to my resort, The Bahia Principe Tulum/Coba/Akumal, and on the transfer to the airport, I took enough of booze to make sure I would sleep thru the whole 2 hours trip, last time), second it is very far from all other attraction except Tulum. Third, none of the resorts are actually locate in TULUM, so errr...they will need a cab to get there. Fourth, there isn't much to see and to do in Tulum, it is a bit like Puerto Moreles with a pyramid and minus the big coral reef or PDC 15 yrs ago. As for cheap guests with a deep wallet (a symptom of double standards). I hate to tell you girls this, these people usually end up punish themselves at the end.
  17. welcome back Mexbride! It must be weird (eye-opening) experience to goto an underfed country when you are from an overfed country! Nice shoes! and BM dresses! I will wait for the Spring when everyone is done with their ho ho ho holiday weight gain and loss before getting the bridal party outfits! I learnt that from my friend who got an overfed BM who couldnt zip up her BM dress 2 weeks before the wedding!
  18. GC2008, So far, I haven't second guess my choice. I picked the Royal, after 3 months of research, and I have been to PDC 3 times before, stayed 1 time at the Gran Porto (before the Royal was built). I picked it for its location, and the fact that it is adult only with a kiddy friend hotel next door. it has 7 restos is a plus because I am a very picky eater. The price of their wedding packages is reasonable too. First of all, I am a very dominant person, so no one would stay outside of Royal, and those who got kids, I made it clear that they HAVE TO stay at the Royal or the Gran Porto. LOL As for the countries...my FI doesn't want to be in Cuba, DR, and Jamaica (people are too poor, and there isn't much to do outside of the resort).
  19. Heidi, I knew what I want before flipping magazines and trying on dresses. Since, I am 90lbs, pretty much I know what would look nice and what wouldn't look nice on me. Of course, if you have no clue what u like, then u have to try on dresses and see what u like and what you don't like. Ok girls...finally i start to make my invites...a lot of cutting, trimming..folding...
  20. Nicola, They are super cute! I find DIY invites are really unique and present the character of the couple pretty well. Nan, I sent out my invites like 7 months in advanced, because the hotel that I picked usually get sold out 3 months in advanced. Plus, apparently the 1st week of July is a high season for honeymooners. Since I got engaged in Nov 2009, and told everyone that I want a DW in PDC since my engagement...everyone had sufficient time to save up. As for alteration, I don't think I will need it, since I am already thin to the bones, and my dresses are custom made. If I loss weight, I will just add a corset to beef me up! lol OK, you can say I may gain weight, but since I don't like to eat rice, bread, pasta..cereals and most of the fruits since I was a kid (oh yes, I am a picky eater),...without white carbs and fruits, it is very hard to gain weight. I already cut my daily HagenDaz...so it is pretty hard for me to gain weight.
