  1. back to Royal PDC, did anyone ever upgrade from Mastersuite to the President suite with the pool? if yes what was the price that the resort asked? The reason I ask this is..last year, when Air Canada Vacation told me that the RoyalPDC was full, and I had to stay at the Gran Porto...but then when I check in at the Gran Porto, they offered me $50 per night per room to upgrade to the Royal...which was CHEAPER than the AC package..even if it was available.
  2. OK girls...(now I understand why on earth there are all those stupid msgs before Family Guy and other TV shows..and waste a good 15 sec from us each time) maybe soon, someone on this thread can also explain to me why we have all these warning tags on the hair dryer, press iron ...like don't dry ur hair when u are in a tub, or don't iron the shirt on ur body...hmmm WARNING: Some readers may find the following msg offensive and disturbing, Readers' discretion is advised. To see some of the previous dresses...from Topspartner and Duosheng http://www.topspartner.com/dress-samples.html http://www.duosheng.cn/fen/Dresses%20photos-Actual%20work1.html For Monica Bridal and Babyonline, you can find pics on this thread. OK..since not everyone would go back to the previous pages of this thread...there are my advices who brides going down to this route of ordering a dress online. 1) If you already tried on the orginal dress, and want an exact copy. JUST BUY the original, and save that $200 and disappointment. 2) Don't take the measurement all by yourself! 3) Always have a plan B in case the dress came out....horrible 4) Go visit local shops and try on as many dresses as possible, and have an idea on what fits u, what doesn't fit u. You don't wanna look like a dead seal or burrito on the beach. 5) Unless you are 6 ft tall and size 0, don't expect u will look like the model in the pic 6) communicate with the rep/dressmaker, ask all the questions, tell her all ur expectations, worries and requirements BEFORE placing your order. 7) Don't be overly direct / mean/ sounds demanding toward the rep of the dressmaker, they are like the CEO's assistant, DON'T RUB them too hard, BE SWEET. I can be very mean and nasty, but ask the Monica Bridal's rep, she will tell you I am the sweetest client EVER! 8) Be true to your size. Don't reduce the size by 2 inches because you think you will LOSE it before the wedding! I know..I know...this can sound very mean, but it is very hard to change a habit, and loss 2 inches....and yes..and keep it at that level after. By the way, the man who gave u a ring accepted the way you are (or gave up his hopes), so don't UNDERSTATE your size. 9) If you are size 14 and up, please let the dressmaker know, and also be aware that dressmaker NEVER seen someone that big in his or her life, so...they may not get the proportion right. 10) Always do all your homework before ordering!
  3. Rosie, People in the Canadian army are usually ...drop outs, commercial pilots wannabes, don't know what to do with my life people...seriously..I don't think they are that bright, and thx god, USA is next to Canada, if not I am sure some other countries would have gulp us a long time ago!!! Do you know that Israel is a tourist destination too? is that a country in war?! no! in fact, it is pretty safe. Wedding decor, In addition to going out with a blackberry ?!?! +$700 cash. Did u see the pic of that Canadian victim?! Not only the rape kit came out negative...but ..Seriously, I don't think cops based in Cancun/PDC have low self-esteem! They could've pickup sexy cougars, drunk students...instead of..getting this madame from Thunder Bay.
  4. ok back to $400 and below per dress biz...so much distraction from the $6K duster salesperson, the mommy telling her kids are rude, and the politician wannabe...(YES I am MEAN, and I MEAN IT!) it is weird to find these on this thread, but I guess it takes a bit of abnormal in order for us to feel that we are normal. Magirl, you have to ask them to send a sample pic of lace or dress that they made in the past in the same/similar style. So you know what to expect. It is very important, because you don't wanna disappoint yourself. They also have a gallery of their finish products, so u can see the end results. Ginger, I went to watch Kitchen nightmare and Fringe! and played with my Chows.in the snow!
  5. LOL Msjulie5475..GEEZ...I am sure (and I mean I am sure) that you are NOT a politician or a lawyer! Maybe you should send that msg to both houses (Senates and Congress). Ginger is right, I didn't meant to insult the choice of the dress. I MEAN it is a personal taste and choice. Hmm..maybe I should make a t-shirt with the msg: "I am MEAN! and I MEAN IT!" pretty cool...pretty cool~
  6. JPenny, Sorry that I was a bit bold. I am not slamming on the choice of the dress. I am more shocked on the price of the dress. I am sure it is nice fabric and quality, but still I just find it a bit excessive given the current situation of the economy which millions of houses are getting foreclosed, and so many unemployed people (and yes, I am always perplexed on how the US economy reaches this point, deep in debts everyone and everywhere) . $6800 is a few months of mortgage, and maybe the whole wedding for some brides on a limited budget. Ladies, I know the dress is very important, and everyone wants to look their best on the day, but Life continues after wedding.
  7. wow..omg $6800 for a giant Swiffer 360 duster. No wonder US economy is going downhill. CamilleA, there is another thread for brides to sell their leftovers on this forum.
  8. Brusselbride, ALWAYS TRY ON DRESS BEFORE ORDER ONE! Unless you are 6 ft tall, and size 0, then u can rely on the model pic. Cookay, my reception dress is made by Monica Bridal, and it was a huge bow at the front..you can check it out. My bestfriend's dress has a bow sash made by babyonline..so u also check it. Gracimurano, It is an extension version of my own dress, thick satin underneath with 2 tulle overlays + lace appliques on the tulle layers. I specially designed for her to hide her tires and elephant legs. Magirl, I think on their website, u can see the dress they made...so u can have an idea.
  9. Rosieposie, Due to erosion the beach is not that wide, the resort has bushes/trees as fence with only a few entry point to the beach. Generally speaking the beach wedding area is in between the pool and the pier, so the bride will come out of her room, passes by the pool area, and walk to the beach. 20 steps in the sand are my estimate. If your shoes are wedge heels, I think you will be fine. If not, you can get a pair of platform flipflops
  10. Yeap, I said this on forum awhile ago...if u want a 100% replica..go buy the original dress! Gracimurano, lace is ok, but tulle is less soft, u can see the pics of my bestfriend's dress made by babyonline and my dress from monica bridal on this thread.
  11. Nan, Don't be nervous! Just enjoy your trip. P.S. you will feel so excited when u see the site in front of your eyes! My FI and me were speechless when we were under the gazebo of RPDC, we actually rehearsed..LOL!
  12. Lauren, If you are on budget, you can go for the several options: 1) get a sample dress from the local bridal store 2) get a 2nd hand dress 3) Order one from the internet made by the Chineses. Option 1 + 2, what u see is what you will get. Option 3, much cheaper than Option 1 and 2, give you the option to add extra things to personalize ur dress, but it can be risky. Quote: Originally Posted by LaurenK There are mixed reviews, but I still wanna take a chance because of the low price...lol...I'm the bride on budget
  13. Shooty, You weren't rude, and I understand ur concerns. Mainlanders are special, you have to go slow and subtle (smooth talks and crack some jokes), rough and "direct" usually don't get received well. I think they just find you difficult to please, and due to the time limit and holiday, they would rather focus on other orders with less special requirements.
  14. Karen, Most of the dressmakers (except Topspartner) were OK when I send them with all the pics and details/instructions/preferences BEFORE I order the dress/ BEFORE they start making the dress. Shooty's requests came AFTER the dress is finished, 2 weeks before a super big national holiday, and her wedding is in March. Me and Ginger spent a lot of time to socialize with the rep on the chat, and told her all our concerns and expectations before the dress was made. I spent 2 months of chatting with various dhgate reps. Monica Bridal took 2-3 months to make my dress because of the amount of appliques and beadings on layers of tulles and satins. Shooty, Due to the time constraints, here are possible solutions: 1) take the dress, get it fix and add the appliques by a local seamstress. IF NOT, dispute on dhgate, get a refund 2) go ask Babyonline if they can do it in 10 days, and ship it by UPS. However, their tulles and beadings aren't as nice as Monica Bridal's. I ordered my bff's dress from them. 3) Goto Davids' bridal, and get an inspired dress 4) Get a sample dress from a local bridal store
  15. LOL! Thx god I am not a dressmaker working in a Chinese factory! I make $50+/hour, and serisouly I would freak out if I see a list of requests like this. I guess they would say take ur money back, and find someone else or just buy the original one from a bridal shop. Not because they can't make it, it is just they don't want to deal with more complaints down the road over small/tiny details for a tiny profit or maybe they won't make any profit at the end. In addition, USD is depreciating against the RMB everyday. Ok, of course, there is nothing wrong to be demanding and picky when it comes to our own wedding dress. However we have to factor in the cost we pay and also the tone of your comments on the pics ...I am pretty sure they will tell you to go elsewhere...(yes, there is a way to deal with mainland chinese, they are very different from the western culture)
  16. yes, I did mine around the same dates as my wedding last year, so I can have idea on the temperature, weather of June/July. I did the menu sampling and met with our WC. I also took my engagement pics on the beach there.
  17. Mocha, I mentioned it numerous times on this thread DON'T TAKE MEASUREMENT ON YOUR OWN! I bet no one really listen, and just save that $10 and take the measurement by themselves. I think most of the time, the dressmaker will follow the measurements with +/- 1 to 2 inches margin of error ( I mean, they don't have laser cutter in their factory). The difference is not very noticeable. Thus, when ur measurement is already 2 inches off, the result can be 4 inches off at the end. at 4 inches of difference..then YES, the dress would be too big /too small/too long/too short.
  18. Chinese New Year is on Feb 3 this year, and usually the workers will have 1 week off, so they can go back to their village and spend time with their parents.
  19. Seriously, it is amazing and beautiful! I like the color and the fit...and of course...the Monica Bridal beadings!
  20. well, Diahr, as u can remember, my parents were yada yada yada, and then they summoned me to tell me that they will pay for my AHR, but they are still not going! sigh... I guess I got used to the idea, and serious it is so embarrasing because my FI who got a pair of divorced parents, both of them are coming! Even the cousins who he didn't spoke to for 20 yrs, they too are coming. I wish your future in-laws realized how silly/non-sense they were, and changed their mind.
  21. Finally me, my FI, my siblings are booked! At first, the price went down by $500, then it started $100...so we rush to book! LOL Diahr..tell your guest, don't wait too long! otherwise, they will end up at the Gran Porto Real!
  22. Diahr, Don't wait for the tax refund! I think I read from this thread that someone did that, and by the time the refund arrives, the hotel was fully booked! Kelly, My wedding is in July, Claudy is my WC online and Zuma will be my on the ground WC, and usually I get a reply within 2 days.
