  1. Ok..I am not a submissive type of chick, and I don't work with the "as long as he likes it, then it is fine with me" rule. Everything my FI buys must get my approval. Honestly, I don't like it. For me, a wedding band should look classy, and can last thru years and year (I assume we will wear it until we...leave this world)...ok it can be edgy and modern from time to time, I can picture a grandpa wearing a black metal ring..but..a lime green one...hmmm. My FI picked a baguette yellow diamond ring to match my e-ring. Yes, I love pink, and my FI will get an extra wedding banding with pink gold and pink diamonds to match with my curved wedding band. I just don't see a lime green color coating ring as a wedding band. Will the color fade over time? If yes, then maybe it is better to go with a green lime gemstone ring. 2. Mocha, All my dresses combined will be still cheaper than a normal decent dress from a local bridal shop! so that I can "invest" my bonus on a nice Easter trip to Europe, a DW in Playa Del Carmen, a honeymoon trip to Tokyo, Hong Kong and Phuket. No offense to bride who milked their relatives or their credit cards or both for an expensive fat dress, but I have to say..it is a misallocation of capital.
  3. for maxidress, H&M has a few nice ones, I bought 2 for my honeymoon trip! LOL I know I know...I am a shopaholic! For fancier taste, BCBG also has a few long silk flowy dresses.
  4. Actually, my FI does check this forum and photographers' blogs with me...and usually laugh his bum bum off when he sees others' pic, especially ..the show us ur dress thread. I know I know..we are a pair of mean couple! LOL
  5. mexbride, I am looking at this one (light and girly), since my wedding will be in July, so..it is will too hot to wear a ballerina style dress with a lot of tulles! Plus, RW& Co has it in size 00! yeah~~
  6. Blackkinu, don't worry too much, your dresses are pretty common ones. They will use synthetic materials, u will look great! the thing about silk is it is expensive, and it tends to get yellowed....and eaten by bugs. Therefore, I didn't order mine in silk, because I tend to try my dress on once every month and I live in a house with a lot of woods around.
  7. Blackkinu, Keep us posted! Can't wait for some pics of the final products. Tiny Tuna, The Romona dress is made of dyed silk taffeta ( I think), the fabric retails at around $25/yard. Actually, most silk fabrics retail at $15-$30 range, imported from China and India. Usually, chinese dressmakers tend to make dress with polyester fabrics, if u are close to them and be extra nice...they may accept ur request and make it in silk. They don't wanna a naggy bride, and get stuck with a silk dress and a loss.
  8. lol...knock-off knowledge?! I think it is a fairly easy dress to make. It is organza ruffles/layers/tiers, ok..the layering may be a bit different, because they don't have the original in front of them. Are u going to use it as a TTD? If yes, it is a safe bet. Seriously I never understand why some brides nagged and whined on the differences between the original and the duplicate when they use it for TTD. Do they really think people would care about the details of a TTD dress? If you are using it as the main dress/reception dress, make sure u get the right measurements, be specific on the extra things that u would like to add, and be nice to the reps (so they can follow-up closely with u). Relationship is the key when u do biz with Chineses! If you want something, ask them nicely, then they will be more willing to go extra miles to help u out. Put urself in their shoes, if you earn $300/month, working long hours in front of a PC, serving anxious and naggy brides from abroad... Yes, sometimes they are slow, sometimes, they don't understand what u are trying to say, sometimes, they try to sell u extra stuffs...and yes, sometimes the quality control is not that good...but hey..at 1/10 of the cost, relax and chill!
  9. I think her date was Jan 22! I am sure she is busy taking care of her new hubby! LOL
  10. ok girls..Beyondtherack.com is having a bridal sales..and u can find original brand new gowns at $400-$500! If that fits ur budget, and you are risk averse, go check them out!
  11. Beka, WORDS! Actually I chatted with babyonline last night, they are still rushing and catching on the pile up orders. I will order my MIL's dress from them in April, so they can clear their existing orders, and be more focus on my order! lol Seriously, rubbing badly/harassing a client service rep is NEVER a good idea. They have no control over the dressmakers anyway, but they can contribute nicely if u treat them nicely.
  12. I seriously don't know what to do once my wedding, 3 receptions, 2 weeks of honeymoon, thx notes, scrapbooking are over...LOL
  13. MsSciFi, That dress is made with hand-cut organza, so it is hard to replicate. Compare to the $8000 original Vera Wang, it is quite affordable@$1200. If your size is a normal one, u can resell it after to recoup some cost. (as long as you don't ask for $6K lol) Otherwise, u need to move on and pick another one. oh..oh...speaking of that $6K dress, I watch Say Yes to the Dress on TLC last Friday, a mom said EXACTLY the same thing to her daughter wearing that same dress....:"but u look like a swiffer!" LOL I laughed so hard!
  14. Ok, I waited 2.5 ..almost 3 months for my dress made by Monica Bridal, because of the amount of handwork, and it was their high season. I did not rush/harass them, because I wanted them to take their time and make it well. Technically, brides should order their dress 9 months ahead, and the local bridal shop takes 6 months to...delivery it. Yes, there was a big chinese holiday, yes ur dress maybe still sitting inside of their factory and yes there were STORMS in the US ( my boss stuck 5-10 hours every week for the past 3 weeks in US airports) so...the way I see it..is just like ur flight got delay or cancel due to bad weather, u can nag at the airline's counter or just wait.
  15. Jen, if the dress is within ur budget, just buy it from the local store. Karen, the chinese new year is like the xmas here, people basically stop working mentally from Dec 1 until Jan 2.
  16. JHarris, My wedding is on July 4, and I put March 1st on my RSVP. When people nags, I will tell them May 1st in the real deadline. Again, I need to know how many OOT bags, chair sashs, favors to buy, and also the hotel tend to SOLD OUT 2-3 months in advance for popular weeks/days. I don't want people to come to me in June, and tell me the hotel is sold out/ the plane tix price went up like a rocket because of the oil price. I gave everyone a 18 months of advance notice that I will have a DW, so technically, those who wants to come have sufficient time to save/prepare/do research...etc.
  17. wow, these dresses are beautiful! I am waiting for all the RSVPs to come in, so I am sort of procrastinating lately. BTW, the Vera Wang White collection looks gorgeous, and at $600-$1400 is pretty affordable. Too bad that my wedding is in July, and the TO store opens only in March...Dunno if I will have sufficient time to order. I am still shopping for a dress for the moms, and my MIL is in the process of losing some weight....errr...so yeah..I am pushing everything to April! lol
  18. wow Nan, Everything is set! I love your menu, so local! Unfortunately, I can't pick those, because some guests are not adventuous enough to try new food, some don't eat pork, some has food allergies/ sensitivity. Therefore, I just stay with the basics.
  19. Joanne, You can find all these info on this thread, just read the past posts. Monica Bridal and Babyonline are dhgate sellers, so you can contact them via dhgate. Landy is the seller who take half as deposit, and then full payment when you are happy with the finish product.
