Hopefully you hear back from everyone soon and you don't have to chase people down to get their responses!! How is the rest of your planning going? Is the paradisus palma real in Cancun? Haha- sorry again! PPR is in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. There is a Paradisus in Cancun but they recently sold it. Other than not know how may people are coming my planning is going well!

  9. Wow you have a great attitude Kristen! I'm still holding my breath- we have 20 people booked but it could go all the way up to 45 if everyone else decides to come...such a huge difference in pricing!! Only a few more weeks of waiting...

Should I cancel the DJ now or wait and see how many more RSVP?? Originally I didn't want to mess with music to suit the tastes of 30 people... and now 15 just seems more like a family get together instead of a "wedding reception." We sent out save the dates back in Feb and have heard from most of those yay or nay about coming down, I honestly don't expect 10 more people to suddenly book hotel and air for our wedding within the next month. I am sending out the invites next week with an RSVP of June 24 (wedding is July 29). Honesty and criticism is readily accepted and welcomed! Cathy I'm really surprised his parents didn't book yet! We only have 22 people booked including us and 2 of them booked yesterday. Our rsvp date is June 4th and I wish it was earlier. I have an aunt and uncle who are "in the process" of getting their passports but I'm not holding my breath. I think a few people are waiting for a better deal and will book soon. This seems to be the nature of a DW... We have a lively bunch and they're looking forward to dancing so we're having a DJ. If you want maybe have an IPOD set up with music playing just to make things festive if you don't want the DJ. Either way it's your wedding and it should be amazing!!
  11. Welcome A.J.- hope your planning is going well. I can't believe we're down to 2 months! Time has flown by and my to-do list keeps getting longer. I recently got a few things done and here's where I am now: DONE - Dress fitting - Found my shoes (finally!!) - FI's ring - Ordered my OOT bags - Ordered color swatched for FI's wedding shirt - Ordered my sister/MOH's dress STILL TO DO: - Welcome letter/itinerary - Buy OOT bag contents and organize - Order FI's and BM's attire - Order place cards - Music playlists - Book hair/makeup - Finalize cocktail hour and reception menus and the cake - Finalize decor - Finalize entertainment Hope everyone else's planning is going well!
  12. I went there in May (4yrs ago) and the weather was excellent. It rained for a few mins on the day we arrived, but it was before our plane even landed, and one day it was a bit cloudy. My future in-laws went last April and had sunny weather every day. The resort should go over a rain plan with you when you confirm your wedding details. Depending on the forecast they will move your ceremony and/or reception to a covered area. Good luck!
  13. Sungoddess- if your TTD is on the beach the photographer shouldn't have to pay a day pass. I read on another post that the beach is public and unless you're using the Dreams Resort itself there shouldn't be a day pass charge.
  14. Hi Rachel! Congrats and welcome to the forum. A lot of us are in the same boat, planning a wedding without actually seeing everything in person. Thankfully this site is full of so many helpful members, reviews, and pics. Make sure you post some info. when you get back from your trip so other FL destination brides can benefit. Good luck and enjoy your planning!!

  18. Hi Lynsey. Welcome to the forum and congrats on your engagement. I'm pretty sure there's a thread on here for brides getting married at your resort. Use the search function up to look it up and I'm sure you'll find lots of info, pics, and reviews. This site is full of helpful info! Good luck and enjoy your planning!
  19. Hi Lauren! Welcome to the forum and congrats on your engagement. You've found the best spot to help plan your wedding. There is a group on here for brides to be for Dreams in Cancun (under the Mexico section). I know it's a lot of info but if you skim through the thread I'm sure you'll find answers to many of your questions. As for the wedding coordinator being slow to respond, that's pretty typical. Most of us wait up to 2 weeks for a response. You can always send another email if it's been a very long time. Good luck and enjoy your planning!!
  20. There's no rule that you have to register and honestly you make a valid point about bringing the gifts cross country. That being said, I'm pretty sure people will still want to give you something so expect gifts anyways. My suggestion is to make a small registry of things you would like/need. Most stores offer shipping to your home and you can have your family spread the word that this is preferred, esp. if you're flying home. I really think your friends and family will understand this and will love to help fill your new home. If you're driving, make the registry full of small things you can pack in the car. Hope this helps! Good luck!
  21. Welcome and congrats! There's lots of info on this site regarding picking your location. You can sucked in for hours and it's so addicting but so very worth it. Good luck picking your destination and enjoy your planning!
  22. Congrats on your engagement and welcome to the forum! Glad you're finding the site helpful- it's great to connect with others dealing with the same issues of planning a DW. I've had almost all of my questions answered here. It's a great source of ideas like the OOT bags. Good luck and enjoy your planning!
