We're staying in the Royal Service section of our hotel for 7 days and 8 nights total. We thought we would have more privacy but most of our guests have also opted to stay in RS. Oh well, we're thinking about taking a road trip when we get back home to Niagara Falls. My FI was a merchant marine and has been all over the world. There aren't many places we haven't both been to that are in driving distance so Niagara Falls it is!

My FI's parents had their bags checked departing from DR and anything over the 3oz liquid rule was taken from them. They had rum and some cream but it was their own fault. On another note my cousins did not have their bags checked when departing and were able to bring back mama juanna with the wine in it. I guess it all depends, the searches are random.

Welcome and congrats on your engagement. If it makes you feel better I didn't wait for a TA to help me with the planning and I started almost a yr before our wedding. I even booked my room and flights 10 months prior. This website has soooo much information that I think you can pick your resort without a TA. Then from there you can even contact the resort yourself to reserve the date. Once you have your resort and date chosen you'll probably find a TA interested in helping you book yourself and your guests. I'm getting married in the DR so let me know if you have any questions. I'd be pissed too if u already told her u didn't want the mom's to wear ur wedding colors. If u didn't tell her beforehand u can try to bring it up to her and see if she understands ur POV and would reconsider the dress. Did she see the BM's dresses already?? If she's set on wearing it I guess u have to let it go...there's probably a lot more to worry about in the next few months besides what ur FMIL is wearing. Good luck!!

I'm getting 100 pics on a CD too and Jorge's printing around 100 more for us in various sizes. I'm really not a huge picture person but I'm trying to get better for my wedding.

Wow those bags were soooo nice but very expensive. I've been looking at bags on Wedding Favors and Gifts. They're paper but I think the custom printing, tissue paper and ribbon dress them up a bit.

Jenise- Your post has me freaking out. I'm flying out of Newark in July on Continental on a Monday! We're doing the first class upgrade too- it was a Christmas present from my parents. I just looked at the Continental website and our flight is still listed as a direct flight. I've never been to JFK but I would def. do the direct flight rather than a lay over. Good luck!!!

Hi MDLady, I just went through the same problem. My engagement ring is a cushion cut but a rectangular shape so the wedding band had to be custom made with a big curve in it. Sadly I won't be able to wear it without my engagement ring but I love it so much I'm okay with it. My FI had my ring custom made so we went to the same jeweler for the wedding bands. I just got the price the other night and it was significantly lower than I was expecting! I priced out similar bands with brand names attached to them (Tacorri) at jewelry stores and they were almost 2x as much as I'm paying. Good luck!

Wow great planning thread! I'm still new here and haven't gotten a chance to check these out yet. I hope you have a fantastic wedding!! I look forward to reading your review. I'm getting married at the PPR in July 2010. I also vacationed there before too and absolutely loved the resort. But that was 4 years ago and I'm very nervous that my memory of the resort is just too good to be true. I mean the food was delicious and the rooms were so clean and now I read frightening reviews on Trip Advisor...so this website has kept my sanity. Thankfully the PPR brides on this site have come back happy. Anyways enough about my crazy fears...good luck to you and thanks again for posting your planning thread. I love your cake, it's beautiful!!

Hi everyone! My name Tracy FI Name: George Wedding Destination: Paradisus Palma Real What made you choose this destination? I went there 4yrs ago with my family and thought it was one of the most beautiful resorts, ever! Wedding Date: July 16, 2010 What made you choose this date? I'm a teacher so we needed a July date and we didn't want to get into August and risk a hurricane. We originally wanted July 24th for the one year anniversary of our engagement but it wasn't available so we did the 16th which is 1month after our 3yr anniversary. Have you decided on your wedding colors? If so, what are they? Ugh, i don't know...this is still being decided.
