Bridal showers and Registering
tracy0716 replied to Tennyt1's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
I think a registry is a good idea even if your having a DW. I'm in the same boat as TLC, many of our friends and family are not attending our wedding but some are still sending gifts. I don't expect gifts from guests attending our wedding but some of my aunts are insisting. We totally appreciate the gifts for our new home! Also, I'm not having a bridal shower but we had an engagement party and a lot of people bought us gifts from our registry. I think you should go for it! -
Potential to turn out bad! Need advice
tracy0716 replied to JanineA's topic in Just venting or funnies
Hmmm I guess I misread a bit. I don't expect FI's nieces to not attend the ceremony. I just am not including them as flower girls. I'm hoping and praying their mother will not ask or be offended. I'm also hoping and praying that if they do start to scream (which they do often) their mom or my FIL's will entertain them or keep them quiet. Thankfully our ceremony will be short! Good luck Janine!! -
Potential to turn out bad! Need advice
tracy0716 replied to JanineA's topic in Just venting or funnies
Not all!! I actually laughed out loud when read this because I can only imagine a screaming/crying flower girl...this is exactly what I did not want at my wedding! There is a small bridal party, my sister is MOH and FI's 2 brothers are groosmen. As of right now only one brother booked and he has two little girls ages 2 and 4. The other brother is MIA and another story. But like you these are the only kids coming to our wedding. I'm not asking them to be in the wedding party because they're like to scream or cry and I don't want to stain my dress. I wouldn't feel bad at all!! Your future SIL might appreciate not having to buy a special dress for her daughter. Hopefully your FIL's understand and can buffer this situation for you. Good luck!! -
Welcome and congrats to a fellow DR bride to be! Make sure you check out the Paradisus Punta Cana and Palma Real threads...there's so much great info. Good luck and enjoy your planning!

Hi Ladies- I found this local store in Red Bank and was curious if any of you have used them for your weddings or for other events or just shopping. It's called Shore Chic. I saw a thread on the forum about using sand dollars as escort or place card and LOVED it! Originally we were going to order shells w/cuts on the top to place the cards. Heres the link to the store and the sand dollars: Sand dollars Personalized, hand written Sanddollar Escort Cards, seating place cards Gulf sand dollar, Florida Keyhole sand dollar, Arrowhead sand dollar, shells Just looking for some reviews or any other info before I head out to Red Bank. Plus they're more than I wanted to spend so I don't want to get my heart set on a product if other's have had a negative experience. Another question about possibly meeting up....I checked out our wedding dates and we have a few May brides. I'm figuring you would prefer to meet up after your weddings. Sooo it looks like June would be a good month. Let's figure out a few dates and narrow down a location. I'm flexible and am still interested in meeting up. P.S. NJ Hunnie's wedding day is next Fri!! Good luck and I hope you have a beautiful wedding!!

We have been watching the fares and hotel's rate and they are not budging as far price is concerned? I know PPR is considered high end hotel for Punta Cana, but do their rooms ever go on sale? Thanks so much for all your help! Salime- I just came across your post and figured I'd reply in the thought of "better late than never". PPR does run specials, check their site. They just had a 30% of special but it's already over. Also, Orbitz and other online sites sometimes run specials for the PPR. There's also another site called LuxuryLink where you can bid on packages for the PPR. You have to stalk the sites to see what's going on. I'm getting married at the PPR in 3 months. We booked with a TA about 10months in advance. Our TA matches any advertised price we can find in print. Some of our guests have already seen a price adjustment. I did not find the PPR to be accommodating with a group rate. I hope you get this info and it helps, good luck!!

Congrats and welcome to the forum. I'm getting married in Punta Cana in 3 months at the Paradisus Palma Real. There are a tremendous amount of resorts to choose from in that area! We chose our resort because I've stayed there before and feel it is the most beautiful setting for our wedding. That being said I did investigate other resorts including Dreams and the Excellence. Both prices were more affordable, in my opinion but ultimately I decided on the PPR. Are you expecting children to attend? If so, I wouldn't recommend the Excellence since it's an adult only resort. Dreams seems to be more children friendly. You said you're expecting 100 people to attend. Not sure what your situation is, but be wary. Your wedding is a year away and a lot of people's plans can change. I'm not sure if you should rule a resort out by size if your guests aren't confirmed. This site has soooo much information! You can literally spend hours on here (I have, more than once) reading posts and finding out more info. Check out the Dominican Republic thread and focus on the resorts that catch your eye. Some brides have also taken a scouting trip to finalize their resort. The extras do add up and that's why the DIY section is awesome! So many brides have posted amazing projects and ideas on here that can save you money. As you get closer to your date you'll probably have a better idea as to how many people are coming and those must have extras. Also, 2 weeks is the typical response time...it's not ideal but you gotta cut the WC some slack because they're usually working on a wedding at the resort. I hope this helps. Good luck and enjoy your planning!!

Bringing Real Rings With You?

Congrats!! Welcome to the forum. You should definitely think about posting a review. I'm sure many other brides in the planning stages would appreciate your insight.

Bringing Real Rings With You?
tracy0716 replied to rosieposie's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
We're bringing our real rings as well. My e-ring is already insured and we're adding my band on shortly. FI's ring is under $200. Just be smart about what you do with your ring. I would not take my e-ring off at all to sleep or shower so it's always with me. We're also planning on "locking" our bands in a suitcase locked inside another suitcase. I'm not bringing any other real jewelry. Trying not to make ourselves huge targets...man I sound paranoid! -

Good luck to you all, too. Here's to keeping down the stress and remembering what's important throughout all the planning and preparation! Wow, Aubry!! Sounds like you know what you need to get done so you should be fine! Good luck to you.

We're not doing a program- it's a small group and everyone knows who everyone is. I figured I'll be going crazy with other details that I didn't want to add program to my plate. Your wedding will be here before you even know!! Good luck and I hope you have a beautiful wedding! -

Ahhh the stamps! I hadn't even considered my beautiful RSVP stamps! My mom is going to be so pissed...she paid for them and paid almost double to get beautiful beach stamps from zazzle. Nice to know we're not alone...I wish people were more considerate.

Thanks Lindsay! I'm really happy to hear that. -
Hi Daniela...I'm in the same boat. I knew from the beginning the resort I chose was more expensive than the surrounding resorts. I considered choosing a different resort but this was where I wanted to get married. I was worried I would be at another resort and always compare it to the PPR, ultimately being an unhappy bride. Since we knew this from the beginning we accepted the fact that many of our friends and family wouldn't be able to attend. For some reason there will always be people that have to say negative comments rather than "We wish we could be there". IMO it sounds like you and your FI need to take a few days to think this over and decide if this is the place you want for your DW or if any of the other options are better for you. Cheer up, you're not the only one! We've all had some version of this dilemma. Remember this is your wedding and you need to do what makes only you and your FI happy. I hope this helped...good luck!!!
