I'm getting married legally at home before we leave too. Only my mom knows and we aren't planning on sharing this info with anyone else. I view our legal ceremony as paperwork and will not celebrate it as our wedding date. We are no exchanging rings and I will probably wear shorts and flip flops. I think if you view your ceremony in Mexico as your wedding then that's what it is...your mom is going to have to deal or maybe she can pay the extra $ for you to get married in Mexico. Welcome to the forum and congrats on your daughter's engagement. It's great you are on here helping her with the wedding plans! I suggest you narrow down your search to one location, then search the threads about that location. From there you can research the resorts and find those that fit your criteria. Punta Cana is full of so many different types of hotels, ranging in amenities and price. I'm getting married at the Paradisus Palma Real- a bit pricey but I love it. The Paradisus Punta Cana is also great and might fit your requirements. I also looked into Dreams and Excellence in Punta Cana. Try using the search function- it's great! Hi! Our resort is supposed to be 5 stars in Punta Cana. I put in $1700-$2000...it really depends on how many nights they're staying and what type of room. I wasn't sure if you were doing per person but that's how I broke it down. I didn't include airfare. For a week my FI and I are about $2000 per person in Royal Service. I found a great deal on Orbitz for the regular room and our travel agency honored it so his parents paid about $1000 per person. Normally it would have been around $1500. It's really hard to narrow down since there are so many factors involved. I hope this helps!

Hi Pazzesca! So glad you found us. I considered a NJ wedding for a hot second but my FI and I really wanted to buy a house. We were fine with having a DW as long as our parents could come, everyone else is a bonus! Are you able to come to our meet up in June??

I totally understand your point about not sending the invites. I think it could work if you tell people there will not be a formal invitation. You can definitely utilize a wedding website for people to rsvp. I found many of our friends and family were waiting for their formal invitation before booking even though we sent out our STDs almost 9 months before the wedding date! Are you going to be okay with not having an invitation to save and remember years from now? Good thing is you have time to contemplate this further. There's always going to be pros and cons...you gotta do what works for you guys. Good luck!!
