I went to Wicky's in March when I was looking for reception locations. We decided to go with Kool club because we are having a fairly large wedding. I had lunch there and the food was good but I can't say too much about how the inside is set up because they were redoing all the hardwoods in the restaurant the day I was there. I can say that the beach is beautiful and it looks like it would be a nice place to have your reception.

I am using weddings riviera maya and working with Gelena as well. Things seem to be going well so far. I have also been down there at met both Gelena and Louisa in person, they seem to have a ton of ideas and also always say that if you give them a picture of exactly what you want they can usually give you prices on it or help you find something in your budget.

We are doing something very similar because we would like as many of our friends to be able to afford to come to the wedding. Actually the Gran Porto real is one of our top contenders for our everyone to stay at. We have decided to get married on a private residential beach and have our reception at the Kool Club. I am also working with a wedding coordinator so that i don't have to worry about everything myself.

We just got back from our site visits in RM. We loved the Ceiba del Mar, thought the hotel was absolutely beautiful. I wish I had taken some pictures to share but my unorganized self forgot my camera. I also loved that there were not huge resorts all around so if you get married on the beach or even the pier it will be really private. Sorry we did not go to see the Mahekal but I will agree that one of the downsides of Ceiba del Mar is that it is pretty far from Playa. The little fishing village right there is really cute though so it is neat to wonder around and really close to the resort.

The one thing we wished we had done before we scheduled our site visits was looking into the exact locations of the hotels and their proximity to Playa del Carmen. We realized that for friends and family making a vacation of the trips some of the hotels were a $40 taxi to the city so if people wanted to leave the resort and experience more night life it was very expensive. Also the beaches further north that are closer to the airport were not nearly as nice. We stayed at the Azul Sensatori as our base and there was only about 20 feet between the resort and the actual water and it was rocky, covered with seaweed and not good to swim in at all. Personally I would have been dissappointed about getting married on the beach right around there. The beaches closer to playa were absolutely beautiful with tons of white sand and the water was multiple shades of blue. We only went down there for five days and wished we would have had a little more time. We are trying to decide between Ceiba del Mar and getting married on a residential beach with the reception at a beach club. We would have liked to have had time to go back to both places and done some sort of food tasting. I hope that helps you out a little.

I just got back from a site visit to several different locations in Riviera Maya, Ceiba del mar was one of our favorites and very high in the running for our wedding for next year. The resort itself is not only beautiful with every room having a view to the ocean but I like how the rooms had a mexican feel to them. I guess why we really liked it was because it was not surrounded by some of the other huge hotels and we felt like the wedding would seem so much more private. I'm sorry i was horrible about taking pictures.

From what I understand it is all coming towards America... so our weddings should be ok we just don't want to move to the Alabama gulf coast

We are thinking about booking him for our wedding...does anybody know if he does albums? I don't remember seeing any info about them on his website?

Thanks, I was going to the website to try to set up a tour and talk to the wedding coordinator and had no idea what was going on. Now I have to just figure out who to contact now.

I'm sorry you ladies are going through this. Paradisus is one of my top choices for resorts. I am going down there on site visits May 22-26 and am planning on visiting the hotel. Hopefully I can get more info about what is going on and how it is affecting the wedding department. I will post something as soon as I get back.
