Hi ladies, This is a random question, but I am curious if any of you have guests who are or have booked an outside resort? I have a few family members who are discussing staying at other resorts that are cheaper. Is it customary for the bride and groom to pay for their guest pass on the day of the wedding, or do they typically pay for that themselves? I would really prefer to have everyone (especially family) stay at the same resort, but I guess I can't ask that if it's too much money for them. Thanks girls, Mikaela

I think that's a great price!! We ended up goin with the colonial for $1850 p/p. The Riviera or White sands were going to cost 2300-2500 p/p!!!! I know march is a busy time of year but the prices still seem quite high. Oh well!

Today we finalized the plans with the TA, and got the room block opened up. Officially getting married on March 21st! I can't wait!!! How long do most dresses take to order? Hi Soon2BeMrsW, I looked into booking with WestJet, and the prices were SO high! I was shocked. I ended up booking with SunWing, and the prices were a lot more reasonable

Thank you so much for the info. So far we are looking at prices around $1950 p/p but online it shows around $100 cheaper. I'm just waiting to see what the group rate will be. Like every 15th person is free or something. It's a lot to ask our guests to pay, but at the end of the day we need to book a resort that makes us happy, and everyone that comes is a bonus. I hope we can get this all organized so I can finalize the wedding date!!

It's march 21st tentatively. Can I ask any brides from Calgary or anywhere in Canada really, what kind of group rates you received? We are getting quotes but I can find prices on Expedia for less.

Thanks Casey! Is that $1400 on top of the wedding package? If they have a second bar tender do you pay even more? I've put a Wedding date on hold March, I just need to confirm our travel plans. Mikaela

Also are there many things to do at nit, such as a disco or something that doesn't close at 11... I love the look of the pure package, and we will have about 40+ people.." Hello, I am in the beginning stages of planning my wedding for march 2014. I Stayed at akumal in March 2012 with some girlfriends and had the best vacation, ever!!! When we wee there we got drinks from the sports bar until midnight (included). There are bands and dancing at the hascenda until midnight when the disco opens. It's the best club I have ever been to at a resort!! So fun I convinced my fiancé to have our wedding here. Does anyone know if they offer beach receptions? Or is the poolside the only outdoor options?

Hello fellow destination brides! I have recently chosen the Barcelo Maya Palace as our destination wedding location, leaving April 30th next year!!! ! I am in the early stages of panning and am waiting for my destination travel specialist to get back to me with the next steps. I have a few questions for anyone willing to take the time to answer.... Has anyone upgraded the mint breeze package to move the reception to the beach? I really want to have both the ceremony and reception on the beach. I was looking at the sunset package, but since we are expecting 40+ people to attend, the extra charge p/p after the first 15 people is a little high. Are there any prefered beach locations that are recommended for the ceremony? What kind of flowers come with the mint package? My vision for the wedding is mostly white and/or creams with s few pops of colour for the bridesmaids dresses. It they are tropical flowers, can I have them changed to all white, or does that require an extra charge? What kind of music is included in the package? Do they play for the ceremony and reception? Can I sub the cake or photographer and save the money (we have a photographer friend hopefukly coming down) or do we get charged even if we dont want them? How are the photographers at the resort if we do end up using them? Has anyone chartered a boat for their group? My fiancé wants to rent a boat for everyone as a thank you for them coming... Thank you all so much! Any information is greatly appreciated. I really don't know what to do next
