  1. I thought the food was great! I found that they had lots to choose from and the ala carte restaurants you don't need to make reservations at except for two of them. Depending on the time of day...morning buffets offered crepes, bagels, sandwiches, toast, french toast, omelettes, eggs, yogurt, cereal, fruit, shakes, pastries, bacon....lunch buffets offered paninis, pizza, french fries, hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken burgers, calamari, rice, chicken, cheeses, fruit. I didn't go to the buffets much at dinner time.....
  2. Hi Alex, It will definitely depend on the resort you choose and what they have to offer. It will also depend on what you would like to have for your wedding day... if you want a DJ, photographer etc. I was just married in Dominican at the Majestic Colonial and can help you with some questions you might have. What sort of costs are you wondering about?? Eryn
  3. Ohhhhhh yes, Connie is REALLY quick with alterations, you tell her when you need the dress by and she will have it done! Especially if all you need is minor tweaks, you are good to go! Maybe give her warning if you are doing it in a short period of time, but we are still waiting for a BM dress to show up and still need alterations on it. I've had to alter a BM dress before and it was great! She's sooo laid back and relaxed. Her info is... Connie's Alterations 1-227 14 Street SW - Parking behind the building 403-270-8166 Oh, if you've got 3 months...you've got plenty of time! I had the hips taken in, bustled, added tulle underneath, fixed up the bust area so I wouldn't have to wear a bra and she's adding a bustle. I don't think she's started on my dress yet because I didn't bring my shoes with me because I didn't need it hemmed but she needs to see them for the bustle, oops! I'm not sure how much its going to cost at this point, but I'll let you know. I bought my dress next door from Cameo & Cufflinks at Parisian and they don't have alterations there, they send you elsewhere. I would think they would offer you a deal on alterations since you bought the dress there?
  4. Do you happen to remember how long it took for you to receive it? I will be shipping to Canada and....well, I'm in a bit of a crunch before the wedding for time! Thanks!!
  5. I am getting married at the end of this month...crunch time!! I am having a bustle added and taking in the hips a bit, she is also adding some cups to keep the girls in tight! I might stop by Connie's tomorrow...I forgot to take my shoes with me but I'm sure length is fine, so I didn't worry about it but she wants to measure it for the bustle, to ensure its a good length when the train is tied up.
  6. Hi Ladies!! SUIT and PANTS UPDATE!!! We order a suit with vest and four pairs of pants on Saturday, December 18 and they showed up at the door on December 31....not even 2 weeks from date of order to receiving them!! WOW, that's customer service!! I sent an email before about how long it might take and they said if you need it by a certain date, write that in the comments, so that's what I did! I wrote that I would like them done by January 7, but if they could have them done sooner that would be great! I paid through my credit card and the only hiccup I had was my own issue - not knowing my securecode, but with Mastercard I had it ironed out in no time. The pants fit one guy and the suit was perfect except the length in the arms, we're getting them altered(just taken out-there was more than enough material to have them adjusted). My FI said it was me and my measurements but I will check to see what the outcome was. The other 3 guys still have to try them on but I'll let you know if there is any issues. We ordered all in English Beige...I will post pictures soon! I've read the thread from start to finish and saw all the pictures which is how we based our decision on color, we didn't see the swatches. Let me know if you have any questions!
  7. Hey Linds, Yes, Happy Holidays!! I brought my dress into Connie's last week also, my FI suit jacket and my two BM's are also going there!! I've had a dress altered by her before and it was great, her prices are very reasonable too! You're getting married in February, right? -E
  8. You know what I thought is that if it doesn't fit as he wanted, we would just get it altered as I'm sure we might have to do if we were to buy one locally. I didn't want him to have to wear a heavy suit on the wedding day because it will be hot! I figured you couldn't go wrong with the price and the reviews have been great!
  9. Great pictures!! I can look at wedding pictures all day long...so beautiful! Kate, looking forward to hearing about your trip, wedding and of course, can't wait to see your PICTURES!!!
  10. Hi Ladies, Well, I ordered a suit on Saturday and four pairs of pants. We're leaving for our wedding in just over a month....lets hope they arrive on time! I will post pictures when we receive them. We ordered English Beige. I received an email on Sunday to let me know they are into Production! Let me know if you have any questions!
  11. I was just wondering if anyone has placed an order lately? I'm going to call to see how long it will take to get them but if anyone has experience it would be great! We're leaving in under 2 months and I'm not sure I'll be able to pull this one off?! Thanks!
  12. Hey Cookie, I'm not really in a rush right now but just thought I'd start looking. I guess it depends how many we need...I've just been looking at one ordering source right now but I might be going south of the border in the next couple of months so I can check it out while I'm there too! Bubbles $32.56 for 72 $45.59 for 120 I found some chair sashes on Kijiji from a girl who got married in PEI. What color are you going to be ordering?
  13. Ashley!! Your E-session is AWESOME! I love the different things you incorporated in the pictures...car, cage, fence, different angles...they're great! Cookie...I would love to see them too!
  14. Oh, I was going to ask if anyone is interested in going in with me on ordering Bubbles or Favour Boxes.... I haven't been able to find these in Calgary, if you have, please let me know! Cost for Palm trees is $75.42 for 96....split in half is $37.71 for 48 boxes or $102.47 for 150....split three ways would be $34.16 for 50 boxes The more you get the cheaper it gets
  15. Proti007 - your engagement pictures are AMAZING!! I love the antique look! Boo - you've still got 4 weeks left...you have time!!
  16. I will be at Melrose tonight!! I found the kind of flower you are looking for at North Hill Mall in Ardene! I was originally looking for pashmina's that I found were on sale in another city and wanted to see if I could find the same deal here. I have pictures of the flower on my phone....but I'm not sure how to upload them. If you are coming tonight, I will have pics!! All colors...pink, yellow, blue and loads more! Also, did you ladies see the deal they have on Dealfind today only?? http://www.dealfind.com/calgary/chehrawellnessspa They also noted in comments section that they will give you a receipt for the massage for $20 so it could potentially cost $29!! Great deal! Except their hours are Tues - Fri 10a-6p, Sat 10a-4p I'm not sure how much time you need to book in for this service. Here is what they said about the express part... Don’t have time for the Spa? Try the Express! Includes a soak, buffing of calluses, cuticle and nail work, luxurious lotion and polish application.
  17. Fantastic Job!! Lots of work! Your guests will love them!!!!! Thanks for the detailed thread.
  18. No wayyyy Pam! Did you get your FI to sign up for it too??
  19. Thanks for the tips ladies!! I check dealfind daily now since they've had some deals come in the past! Lindsay, I signed up for the Yoga because its such a great price! I've never tried hot yoga before but I thought it would be worth a shot!
  20. Yeah, I'm game to switch up the days too, Thursdays aren't working for me right now! October 12 should be a good choice!
  21. Hi BDW peeps!  Unfortunately my MOH has backed out of my wedding two weeks after I bought her the Bridesmaid dress...    Brand new dress, never worn!  - Optional Spaghetti straps - Organza material - Cocktail length  $100 plus shipping costs ~I'm shipping from Canada~  Let me know where you are if you would like me to find out shipping costs for you...
  22. Ktchi, Wow, thanks so much for posting your templates! The work you've done is FANTASTIC! Great job! I tried a test print to see if I had the right paper and if this(Passport invites) would be a project that I would want to take on myself but when I printed the pages inside the blue(kind of checkered) background seemed to have printed too dark. I thought I would be able to figure out how to lighten it but ....I can't figure it out! Do you know if that background comes with the program or if it was a picture that was inserted. Oh, and I was trying to change where it says United States of Marriage because I'm in Canada but I can't seem to change that either.... any ideas? Â Thanks!!
  23. I have already purchased one of my BM's dresses because we found one in a store that was my color and it fit her PERFECTLY! The one we found for her was in an ORGANZA fabric. Now we've been looking for a dress for the other BM and the one that looks best on her is made in a CHIFFON fabric. Can any past/present brides give me any feedback as to if this will stand out in photos or will it blend just fine because they will be the same color ordered from the same designer. Â If you might have had the same fabrics in your wedding, I would love to see pictures! Â PLEASE HELP! Â Thanks!
  24. Pam - no worries! I know we are all busy busy! I'm going to send you a message right now about chair sashes! I might share pics of the dress, not sure yet(not sure who might linger on here)! Â WELCOME - Krista, Staci and Lindsey! Â Lindsey- I'm sure you will be able to find what you're looking for...once you get out shopping!
  25. Wow, girls! Sooo much to catch up on and still trying to navigate around the new forum! Gotta love vacations! I'm sorry I missed the last meeting in August, I know you two girls had fun though!  Ashley, thanks for the tip of asking for a one time price drop! I had one quote with that but didn’t even to think to ask if it wasn’t listed.  Lindsey and Meghan, I got a BM dress altered at Connie’s before and she did a great job!(I too know others who have used her for alterations and they were happy!) Great price and she was very personable! Let me know how it goes Lindsey!  Sandy, The Ella dress you are eyeing is GORGEOUS!!! I love the May the fourth be with you! I’m totally opposite a Star Wars fan and I even think its pretty neat!  Here is an update as to where I’m at with my planning…. Sent my STD’s out last month and I’m now working on the Invites to get them out asap! I’m in the midst of getting quotes, I’m surprised how different they all are! Make sure you check around. Last weekend I bought my DRESS!! I’m really excited about that and while we were there, we found a dress for my MOH! Both were really great deals!  DRESS SHOPPING REVIEW: In Calgary I went to Blissful Bridal by Cactus Club on McLeod Trail, Golden Brides on 16 Ave(and their sister store on Centre street), Cameo and Cufflinks and Parsian in Dalhousie, Ever after Bridal on 16 Ave and two stores(I can’t recall the names) in the NE(near Barlow and 32Ave).  My experience at Golden Brides was interesting…here goes, the store itself has I would say over 1000 wedding dresses and tons of BM dresses(if you are having troubles shopping this might be the place to go, they have lots of dresses and lots of sizes-especially if you’re looking to buy off the rack) I had bought a BM dress from there a few years back and a friend of mine bought her wedding dress there last year and they seemed pretty good to deal with. I went on a Wednesday evening and I was the only one in the store, kind of nice. They told me that every dress in the store was 40% off and the sale ends tomorrow. Well, I didn’t love a dress so much that I thought I had to buy it that day! So I went back on the weekend and she said tell me what dress you would like to know and I’ll check. So I asked if it was on a different percentage discount and she said yes, the price will change every day. So she gave me a flat out discount of $300(no percentage) but I did the math and the 40% discount that I was given earlier in the week was $360 off. They want you to take the dress home that day. Words of advice if buying a dress at that store… There will always be a sale, don’t feel the need to rush into it! Make sure you get a great discount and I think you could negotiate prices too!  Blissful Bridal and the 2 stores by Barlow didn’t really have much of what I was looking for and the service wasn’t great for me at either of those stores. I did try on a few at Ever After Bridal that were nice and I was the only one in the store so they helped me out the whole time but the store was kinda small.  I went to The Parisan and Cameo & Cufflinks(=Awesome Customer Service!) a couple of times and when I went they were having a sample sale which I thought I would have to buy off the rack anyways because its getting too late to order a wedding dress and their prices were all 50-80%off all wedding dresses so it was great(usually I believe you have to book by appt and they said they don't usually have that many dresses). I thought the staff in both stores was super helpful, friendly and they worked well together (they don’t work on commission so no pressure either) This is where I bought my dress that I am ecstatic about!!! I can’t wait for the wedding day, I just want to wear the dress now and every day until then!  I loved catching up to see what everyone has been up to especially the different stages we are all at and even those who are already married!!!
