    Hello from NJ

  11. I have to say thank you to all of you! I really did read all 56 pgs of this thread, and I have also taken some notes. It delayed me some from getting more posts in, but it was really extremely helpful and worth it!
  12. I just finalized our date for Feb 3, 2011, at CP. I haven't talked to anyone at CP yet, but Yesenia, from the Miami office, has been very helpful! I actually connected with her just by clicking on the link they have on the palace resorts wedding website to ask about availability for symbolic weddings. She really seems to have tried to answer all of my questions in a very timely manner.
  13. Congratulations! I bet you could search with the phrase reception ideas and a ton of forums will probably come up. You may have to get some posts in before you'll be able to see everything, but even if you can't see all the pics right away the info should be helpful. Have fun exploring BDW!
  14. Congratulations! It was so much more fun and exciting for me once I had a few things officially booked, too. I'm getting married at the Cancun Palace Feb. 3, 2011. I hear the Royal in PDC is gorgeous!!! Have fun exploring the site!
  15. Congratulations and I also agree, connect with the TA's on this site. Where I am from, we have two main airlines that leave our airport and all of the TA's in my area told me I would have to wait until 10 months before the date I'd like for package deals to come out. I got very overwhelmed, frustrated, and I walked away from everything for about three months. Then family started asking for info, so I connected with the local TA's again and they didn't have alot of advice or answers for me. Finally, out of desperation, I connected with the TA's on here. I didn't do it initially because I thought something local would make more sense. I couldn't have been more wrong!!! I can honestly say I felt some immediate relief after talking with the TA I was connected to from BDW. FYI, I also ended up finalizing my decision, picking a date, and booking a flight approx 2 weeks after I talked to her. I was also able to connect with an amazing wed sales rep from the resorts I was looking at, so see if there is a way to "contact" someone at the Dreams PV about weddings. You might be able to get some answers that way as well. Good luck and I hope the planning starts to become more fun!!!
  16. Congratulations! I've actually heard very good things about the RIU in Ocho, most recently from a friend that was there in June. She said they saw a wedding and it looked gorgeous. I have also been to Ocho, three years ago, and the biggest thing I remember that might be helpful is that the ride to the resorts was pretty long. It might be worth considering a private transfer so that you don't have a ton of people and have to stop at every hotel along the way. Happy planning!
  17. Wow!!! Congratulations and I will send tons of good wishes your way! May everything in the next couple weeks go off without a hitch!
  18. Congratulations! If you're worried about the 'wedding factory' issue, I'd check with the resorts you're looking at to see how many weddings a day they do. Some do many and others only one. As for good photographers, I've seen amazing reviews and pics from many on this site. Explore and have fun!
  19. I'm excited for you just see how soon the date is. Congratulations and have fun exploring BDW!
  20. Congratulations and have fun planning! It can get very overwhelming, but I'd have to agree with someone earlier that mentioned connecting with the BDW TA's. I felt a ton of relief after I was able to speak with one of the BDW TA's!
  21. Congratulations and happy planning!

  23. I haven't been to Punta Cana, but I wanted to say you're a great friend for looking into this! Search the forums for Punta Cana and Reviews Punta Cana, and I'm sure you will find a ton of info!
  24. Congratulations! I am getting married at the Cancun Palace Feb 2011. I haven't been there, but I have read many good reviews for the Palace resorts and feel in love with pics I was able to get for the beach ceremony location. Happy planning!
