  1. Hi Lucy! Welcome to the site and congrats! We are doing a traditional AHR too, so I know all the planning you are doing. We chose to make the destination wedding less formal though...so less planning in Jamaica for me Your date is right around the corner, so relax, enjoy and have a wonderful trip!

Another Sandals Negril bride...check out the Sandals forum too! Are you doing the BB package or one of the upgrades? I can't wait to read your review when you get back, to see where you choose for the ceremony, etc, etc..! It's coming up so soon for you
  3. Hi Chanel! Congrats and welcome to the Forum...happy planning!

I am using a local travel agent that I use for work...he is great and very helpful. He and his wife have been to all the Sandals resorts so he is very knowledgable on Sandals...as for the Florida WC, I haven't even spoken with her yet. She made 2 appointments with me...one I had to cancel because of work and the other, she called 3 hours late and barely apologized. I am only going to send her the necessary paperwork and that's it. I will book my photography when we get down there...flowers I am using silk...we are only doing the BB with no upgrades and we are not having a reception since only 2 others are coming down with us. We instead are having an AHR the day after we return. The beauty of Jamaica will be our decor When are you going?? We leave 11/28 with a wedding date of 12/2...
  6. Hi Lakiel! Congrats and welcome to the forum from a fellow Jamaican bride to be. Happy planning!
  7. We split our trip up between 2 resorts as well...Sandals Negril for the wedding and the Whitehouse for the honeymoon. My TA convinced me about the Whitehouse as we were thinking of Ochos Rios for the 2nd week. I am sure that you will be happy with the decisions you make...everything will work out! We all go through the stresses!!

Unfortunately, I read in several places that Sandals will not allow any guests to decorate the ceremony or reception areas - maybe it is a liability issue? I wish it were not true, but you may want to budget the $250 so that you can have the items setup by the Sandals staff...
  9. Congrats and welcome to the forum! This site has so much useful information. Happy planning!
  10. Hi, congrats and welcome to the site! We are getting married in December at Sandals Negril. We had the same thought process...combining the wedding and honeymoon. We originally were planning a big wedding at home, but this is turning out to be fun planning and much more economical - and a lot less drama Good luck with your planning!
  11. Congrats and welcome to the forum from another Jamaican bride to be! Have fun planning!
  12. Thanks Kelly!!! I can't wait to go...the Negril tour sounds great! I definitely want to eat out a local place. And I am waiting until we get down there to purchase any photography - so far, I haven't read about any problems if you wait.
  13. Congrats Kelly! Welcome home! It sounds like you had a wonderful trip. I am doing exactly as you...BB with no upgrades, bringing my own flowers, at 3PM, but in Negril, and we are only bringing 2 people, so we will be one of the restaurants for dinner after the ceremony. Question - did you purchase the a la carte pictures beforehand, or did you just set it up when you got down there? Oh, and 2 days after the wedding, we are transferring to the Whitehouse for our honeymoon week. What did you think of the restaurants? Any good tours?
  14. Congrats and welcome to the forum!! You will find a ton of useful information on this site. Happy planning!
  15. Hi and welcome!! I will be staying at the Sandals in Negril...any good suggestions for dinner off the resort in that area? We plan to visit Rick's Cafe but I am looking for a real authetic Jamaican restaurant for me and my FI and our 2 guests. Good luck with your planning!
  16. Welcome and congrats! We are getting married in Negril as well. Good luck planning, and I am sure you will find the answers to your all questions on this site!
  17. Welcome and congrats!! You should find tons of info on this site to help you chose. I am a Jamaican bride, but I went to a wedding at Iberostar Riviera Maya last year, and it was a beautiful wedding...good luck with all your planning!
  18. Thanks for the info! I figured all of that from other things I read on here. I am booking everything when I get down there (only 2 people coming with us so I am not having a private reception dinner). The only thing I am using the Florida-based WC is for the documents needed to be sent ahead of time
  19. Thanks for sharing! Sounds like you had a wonderful time!
  20. Congrats Kim and welcome to the site! I too am marrying in Jamaica, but at Sandals Negril. This site is wonderful for information, so good luck planning!!
  21. Hi Sandy - welcome to the forum!!! This is my 2nd wedding as well, and we are getting married at Sandals Negril exactly one month after yours - December 2nd!! We are only bringing our maid of honor/best man, just to keep things simple. We are then having a small reception when we get back home for family and friends. Have fun planning - this website is great for information!
  22. Congrats and welcome to the forum from a fellow Jamaican bride! Have fun planning!
  23. Katie, your pictures are beautiful!!! I love the blues in the wedding party, your dress is so pretty and the sunset/night pictures on the beach are gorgeous! Thanks so much for sharing...now I can't wait until December!!!
