I wanted to change the neckline a tiny bit (it;s square and I wanted the center dropped about 1/4 inch. She also said something about adding boning but I'm really not sure why that is needed Now that you say all of that I guess it does make sense that the alterations are so expensive. Sounds really detailed and time consuming. Still, I hope you find someone at least a little cheaper. I am now on board with Carolina too. I spoke to her this morning (I actually never spoke to my other WC) and she seemed like she was genuinely willing to help. She didn't do anything above and beyond yet but I can tell she is very organized and pays attention to detail. Don't get discouraged. When you find YOUR dress you'll know it and finding the perfect dress sometimes takes a little longer for some of us. I know it did for me and I had to travel 8 hrs to get it. I'll try to have fun and shots will be a must!! I have an appointment with Christine Tremoulet www.christinetremoulet.com/boudoir. I liked the pics on her site, she is very nice and encouraging and her prices are in my budget. She actually has a special going on right now and I got a 1 hr session with 3 outfits for $250. She also has more expensive packages that are longer sessions, but I wasn't ready to be uncomfortable for 3 hrs!! There's actually a tread on here with her pics. She used Del Sol, one of the vendors on here. She did a really nice TTD shoot. http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/thread/61972/style-network-tv-host-del-sol-trash-the-dress#post_1374874
  2. Sounds like a really great prize. I wish I could win, wedding not until November though

Possibly you could do something like small plates and rent out the room of that nice restaurant you mentioned from like 2pm - 6pm and that way people wouldn't be expecting a full meal. I don't know how you feel about that but it is just a suggestion. My family might not go for it and would want to eat ( ;-) ), but I've attended something done tastefully and in a classy manner that was similar. Just don't stress yourself out, whatever you do!!! And Amanda, I have not even began dress shopping yet, but that price for alterations seems awfully high! I hope you can find something alot cheaper! That was actually a thought because the restaurant I mentioned actually specializes in tasting plates and they're really good. So, I'm definitely going to keep that in mind. Thanks for the suggestion!
  4. OMG!! Who watched today? And what was Rachel talking about when she mentioned that random thought at the end? It was so abstract that I can't even remember what she said, I just remember saying to myself WTF?

Keep in touch with me too because if I find some we can work something out after my wedding in November.

And I agree with (I think it was Amy), show them the wedding pictures and make them feel included! This is another great suggestion. There's actually a really trendy restaurant here where I wanted to do the AHR. They close the restaurant for private events but would have been too expensive for 200ppl to attend. I'll present this to FI too and see what he says. I'm shaking in my boots!! BUT I'll say that I may be the most timid of them all when it comes to being "sexy" and all, soooo if I can do it, you can too!!!! I'll keep you posted on the experience but I cannot promise to let you see depending on how they come out. I'm scared!! Lol. That resort is definitely worth cutting some things out. I hope it works out for you! I would say for you to email her. I waited for 2 weeks for her to introduce herself. When I started getting too anxious I emailed her and she responded in like 5 min! That was Friday and we set up a phone call for Monday. So, so far I'm pleased. Thanks for your insight!! Very true. How long after your wedding are you doing your AHR? I was told that mine would be around $250. I don't know what's normal but $1100 seems VERY steep. Many people don't even pay that much for the dress itself. I'll keep my fingers crossed that you find a quality person to do it cheaper.
  7. I almost forgot, I decided to go ahead and do the BD shoot!!! I'm scheduled to do it in Houston Labor Day weekend. I have to admit I'm overly nervous because I haven't been to the gym in a month!!

Are there guests who are not able to come to Mexico you really want to celebrate with? Can they come to NO? I really wanted my 90 year old grandpa to be there -- he was able to make an hour or so in Maryland -- so it was worth it to me. I have to be honest here, while I had a great time at my AHR, it was a bit anti-climatic. I don't regret having an AHR, I am just saying after my wedding was over I was a little relieved that it was over - and then I had to do the AHR stuff... The week of, I was really excited, but the weeks leading up to it was more of a chore. I guess the AHR was technically for family who couldn't make it and friends. My grandmother says she's in too much pain to travel and my uncle is not a fan of flying. Other than that, everyone I really wanted to be there will be. I had come to terms with the fact that some just won't be able to share in our day, but in the beginning FI wasn't completely on board with that. I think he has now come to terms with it all and is over it and that's why he's not pushing for it all of a sudden. In addition to the fact that I told him that if he really wanted it, the majority of the planning was going to be up to him. I agree that it was just more stress that I wasn't willing to take on. The stress for our wedding is enough and it's good stress because my heart is invested in it. I can't say the same about the AHR. Thanks for your experience with the situation. I think I would have had the same outlook on it (being anti-climatic and all). Thanks for that info! I feel the same way your FI does sometimes. You don't know how many people don't even know how much it would have cost them to come because they just wrote it off without looking into it. I'm kinda glad you put it like that because that makes me not feel so bad. We chose a DW b/c it was going to be too expensive to have the wedding I wanted for 200 ppl PLUS I just didn't want it to be a spectacle. It sucks that only 7 of you family members are going, but I still don't think that's something that you should/would regret. I know I won't. Thanks for the insight! Now, for the fun stuff....I looked @ Banyan Tree last night and fell in love!! I swore off TripAdvisor just because of the misleading stuff they were saying about AS, but I guess I can check it out for this . I have to work on getting FI on board with this. We were not planning to take a honeymoon until next year, so if the AHR is off we should be able to go where we really want to go!! I tried to get him on board with Zoetry a couple months ago and he looked at me funny Keep me posted on whether you choose it tho. Maybe if he shoots me down I can live vicariously through you!! So true Chong!! Thanks for your input. I think this may be the route we take instead of it being a big production. Great job Chong! You included info that I wouldn't have thought to include. Did you use a template or what? Quote: Originally Posted by taylorwd My question is the same as Amy's: who's the AHR supposed to be for? Our wedding was family only so our AHR was for our friends. A lot of my family decided to come, which was an added bonus, but it really wasn't for them. Planning the AHR was really stressful but it was fun to get to celebrate with all our friends. I think having a BBQ at your house is a great idea. It doesn't have to be announced as an AHR. You could do something like a wedding photos screening party. Very casual and the only thing wedding related would be the unveiling of your gorgeous pics! I'm loving the idea of a screening party!! I think we may do this. This way people don't feel obligated to bring gifts and expect things like a garter/bouquet toss. There's actually a place here that's set up like a lounge and has a huge movie room where we could do a slide show or something and just not invite as many people as we had originally wanted to. I may be stealing this idea!!
  9. If the chair sashes are still available for some reason, PM me please!
  10. I need about 50 purple sashes if anyone has any left. My wedding is November 12 and I will be glad to pass them on afterwards.
  11. Ok Ladies, I'm finally caught up since I was gone. It took me 3 days!! Lol. In the past week FI and I have come to the decision that we will probably not have an AHR as we planned. I'm kinda bummed but kinda relieved at the same time. I feel like it was too much for me to plan and the fact that it was going to be Mardi Gras weekend, things were just really pricey. We would have spent the money we saved doing a DW on the AHR. Also, FI spent the week at home vitising his parents and they said that they thought it was too much to have to come to MX in Nov then have to turn around and come to N.O. in March. I kinda understand this, but at the same time I'm a little disappointed in this. FI and I have been living together for 3 years and not once have they been to visit. I think it's because his mom isn't keen on our pre-marital living arrangement but that's just specualtion. We could be living in a matchbox for all they know. I'm ok with not having a huge party. I was always fine with just having our wedding in MX and calling it a day. FI and his mom were the ones pushing to have an AHR because a lot of their family will not be there. Anyway, now I'm torn because we put it in everyone's heads that we were going to do something that weekend. We even paid a deposit on the venue. Now, some people that I wanted to be involved in some way aren't going to be involved at all, i.e. my grandmother and uncle. We still wanted to do something but if his parents and possibly his BM won't be there I think it's a little pointless. So, one of our thoughts is to just do something like a bbq or a random party but not necessarily have that be connected to our wedding. I feel that this would be a fun idea especially since it will be Mardi Gras weekend. Or we can have an AHR for our one year anniversary. Any thoughts? Anyone going thru something similar?

I have been in 14 weddings. That is a big reason I am not having BMs. I been in their shoes too many times! HA Wow! Someone actually has me beat. 27 dresses is my nickname too but I've only been in 9 weddings and turned 2 down. Thanks for the tip! Glad to hear you're feeling better and how cool is it to be featured in a magazine?! You definitely deserved it because your wedding was definitely one of a kind despite the fact that we will all be at the same place. Your attention to detail definitely made your wedding stand out in my mind. you sound like me. Cute clothes on the website but I would need a lot of butter to slide into some of that stuff! This is a tough one. My TA actually put an rsvp date on our STDs so maybe yours can recommend one that's feasible and reasonable. We're only staying a week but if you could send me the info that would be worth it IMO. I tried to PM you but it didn't work for some reason. [email protected] This sickens me!! I think this is sooo horrible and I feel for your daughter. Like someone else mentioned, 13 is already hard as it is and it's easy to tell her that these people won't be a thought in her mind when she grows up but I know that's not what she wants/needs to hear. It amazes me how some people never grow up and it breaks my heart that some people are even allowed to call themselves parents. I say file the police report. My sister is going thru a similar situation with her ex and the police said it's always good to have that type of stuff on file just in case. I hope that this all blows over soon, but I'm just imagining how many other kids have fallen victim to this lady and her child. Maybe she needs to be taught a lesson. I have never stayed there but I think I am going to put it on our list as a contender for our honeymoon. It's really nice and looks serene. I think Lindz mentioned it before so you may want to ask her what she's heard about it when she gets back from her wedding. As far as your WC, I say call her! I waited (and lost a month) because I was trying to be patient. All it did was make me more anxious about the upcoming process and all I need to get done. Just make it known to her that you are getting antsy and you need her attention as soon as she gets a chance. That's weird. I would think that if it was a big problem they would have said something to you about it. Although, I hear people get banned for things and sometimes have no clue why. I hope it was just a misunderstanding or a glitch on your computer like you mentioned. This is definitely your calling. You already have a fan base/potential clients right here on the forum.

They will be over on the adult side with us partying most of the time. I have a couple single gals coming as well but they have all said they don't mind sharing a bed on the adults side Did anyone else run into this? I'm glad you brought this up. I didn't even think that far but I hope my guests have OMG!! I can't believe it's your turn!! Aug 7th seemed so far away when I joined. Can't wait to hear how fab your wedding was and to see pics! Cute dress! I don't have Fay but I had Cecile and I miss her too. Fabio just said that she's "no longer with the wedding department." I wonder what other depts. they have or if they just let her go? She was good. I just got in touch with my new WC (Carolina) after a month! We have a phone call scheduled Monday so hopefully she blows my socks off. I got the name of my WC from my TA. I had to contact her 1st because according to the contract and other info they suggested I START planning Aug 14th! I get married Nov12. So this shows how laid back they are about it all. I would say ask your TA or email Fabio to see who you're assigned to. Even when I was just re-assigned to another WC I had to contact her although I was told she would contact me. I think its a cute dress and I love the color. I'm not sure how short it is and if you have heavier girls in the wedding but I would just take that into consideration. If you think it would look nice on all of them, I say go for it! You cannot beat $30!! Your BMs should love you for that. I agree! I would say narrow down to 2 at the most then take a vote if you just really want to be diplomatic. Or you can get one of them involved whose opinion you really trust and only consult her on the options. Getting the opinions of all of them could be overwhelming.

Also it is under $800 with 25% off if I get it before end of august. Maybe I have been watching too many say yes to the dress episodes with 10,000 dresses, but isn't that super reasonable?! Pretty. I only went to 3 dress shops and when I went to one of them it was really because I was looking for my mom's dress. I say, think on it until the end of the month. If you can't shake the thought of the dress....buy it! I too am very indecisive. After I got my dress I started thinking I had made the wrong decision (it came down to 2) and wanted to go back and get the other one. What made me change my mind and stick with the one I ultimately chose was the fact that the one I chose is classic. I hope that 20 years from now I don't look back at it and say "What was I thinking?!" The other dress was a little bit more trendy. So, with all that being said, this dress is very classic. I don't think it will "go out of style" per se. So, go for it! If push comes to shove and you do change your mind later, hop over to the "buy, sell, trade, freebies" area of the forum and sell it OR take it to a consignment store in your area and make your money back. For that price, I think it may be worth it. I'm having 5 BMs and just found out this week that only 4 GMs are coming (although 5 agreed to be in it). I would say DO NOT ask anyone to be in it just to make the numbers even! It seems those are the people that give you the blues. My thought was to just have the GMs process in, then have the BMs come in after. Pics may be lopsided but oh well. Congrats!!! I remember that feeling!! Amazing it was UNDER budget too. Cute pics! I'm not a big fan of yellow but that really looks nice! Quote: Originally Posted by bigboponthebeach Hi Ladies! I only use that site now to pull photos from for inspiration. Other than that, I find it pretty useless. Camping!? Sounds like fun. We went for Halloween last year. Kinda spooky but we had fun. Email me your new pin!! We have to catch up!! As far as theknot.com goes...it was amazing for picking out my dress and it has a great budget tracker, but that's about it. I glad I used it to pick out my dress tho. I probably wouldn't have found it otherwise. That was the only place I'd ever seen it. Yeah, I guess it wouldn't make much sense for you. I still haven't heard from my TA or been introduced to Carolina at the moment, but that would be a lot for us to think about and weigh our options. It may not make sense for us either.
  16. Hi Ladies! I haven't been on in over a week so I have a lot to catch up on. Forgive me if I comment on something that has already been talked about/resolved. I didn't want to make my multi quotes too long and I know it's going to take me FOREVER to catch up! Lol. No pics yet. My turn isn't until November so I guess they won't help you much. Sorry! Yeah, sounds like your TA sucks in some areas but I think I would rather lack of organization/communication over not getting you what you really want or getting good deals. Sucks you have to compromise your sanity in the process tho. No problem! I would say that the cocktail party isn't necessary unless of course you're getting it for free. I was promised one before booking so I had it in my head that we would have that as a welcome party/rehearsal after party. Getting it free was just the perk that made me keep it as originally planned. Thanks for mentioning about the cake being 20% off. I didn't even make sure they had done that for me. Another $100 off!! Can you send me the pics of what bouquet you're getting for $60? I had pics of some I wanted them to do which I thought were very basic but they wanted to charge me $300 for them so I gave up on it. When I saw AmyB's bouquets that she got for $50, it made me want to use them again tho since hers were so nice. I agree!! Thanks. Just like Beaz2be I feel I have to pick my battles. I guess I'll let that one go then. Thanks for that info! It helps me out. Figured we would have to stay in the suite, didn't think to ask about others in our party staying in one. Staying positive ~ On a good note, Got my approval from Azul today ~ Definitely 5/2/11. About to leave for some shopping with my daughter who is 13 and a junior bridesmaid. Gonna look for some bridesmaid dresses and DIY/invitation type stuff. Have a great day girls, and thank you all so much for the "luck wishes!" Sorry you didn't find a dress but look at it this way, YOUR dress just wasn't there. I know it sucks to get all excited and travel all that way to leave empty handed but I'm sure you will find the perfect one. Congrats on your date confirmation!! Funny how mistakes wind up being beneficial. It was meant for you to talk to her apparently. Don't you have Carolina? I'm glad you spoke to her because I still haven't even gotten my email where she was supposed to introduce herself to me. If I hadn't been so busy the last week I would be pissed right about now! Great website! Nice pics and I like the set up of your pages. Are the chairs you referring to the plain white ones? That's actually a great deal. Yes, the free wedding package has more elements than the pearl package. Silly! We are doing a private reception because we wanted our own music/dancing, etc. So, I guess it just depends on your view of what your reception will be. Sounds to me like you know what you want and I would say don't settle. You only do it once right? Good luck getting your mom to pay for it. I know that would help out a lot.
  17. Thanks for getting back to me. I appreciate it! And again, I'm sorry to hear about your brother. Hopefully everything will be ok and back to normal soon

We're on the way to the courthouse now to do the legal ceremony and then we leave for Mexico early tomorrow morning. I've been packing and getting everything together which is why I haven't been on here in a week but we're pretty much ready to go. I forgot to take pictures of everything for my planning thread before I packed it so I guess I'll take pictures in Mexico when we unpack. Adios Ladies!!!! I'll definitely post some info when I get back. BTW: Amybermuda I loved, loved, loved your pics!!!!! So exciting!! Congrats MRS.!! Have a great time!! I was worried about by colors being too dark also, but like Amanda, I didn't really want my colors to be tropical. So, I'm trying to lighten up my colors with other things like their bouquets and other decor. I guess if you look at my pics and think everything is too dark you'll know what NOT to do. Lol! Sorry you had a crappy morning BUT it's amazing that you got the Free Wedding AND are staying at AS for 14 days!! Has anyone else stayed that long?! Who is your TA if you don't mind me asking? I'm going to ask but I'm thinking it won't fly. Very good idea, thanks for the tip! You're like Martha Stewart when it comes to organization! Very cute dresses. I am doing two colors for my BMs dresses too and I can understand your hesitation. I went back and forth about it but in the process of me deciding I had my sister (MOH) say that she was hooked on the purple I picked out and didn't want to change and I had my friend (BM) say that she thought she would look good in the bronze....so I decided to put my MOH and MtOH in one color and the BMs in another. I have 5 girls so don't feel bad. I actually was supposed to have 6 but you may have seen my post about my lovely "friend" that declined. (Back to topic) I LOVE the purple and turquoise together and was about to switch my colors (I like the way peacock feathers tie in with it) but my friend had already purchased her bronze dress. So, once again, if you look at my pics (not sure how much time you have since we don't have tickers) and don't like the dresses in two different colors, you know what NOT to do. Lol! Yeah, the new layout is throwing a lot of us for a loop but I guess we just have to adjust. I can understand you being M.I.A. Your time is fastly approaching. Do you need help with anything or do you pretty much have most of it done? Congrats on confirming your date!!! DO NOT look at Trip Advisor! It's the Devil! Lol. Congrats!! The one you made your profile pic was the one I would have picked too. Very cute. I'm having my reception at Plaza Zavaz also.

Maybe you should send out a save the date postcard. There are free options on VistaPrint, that way you don't have to rush into sending out an invite that you may not be in love with. If your wedding is closer someone mentioned a website (I think it was Maggie) where she typed the info in on the computer. Maybe that site would work for you. Thanks for the offer but a lot of the work I need to do is with finalization of plans. For instance, I still don't know how long I'm staying out there because of the whole 7 day requirement for the "Free" pkg. Plus, I'm beginning to second guess brining my own flowers after I saw AmyB's and she said they cost $50 BUT I still haven't been able to get an idea of what available to me for that price. It's really just things that I want to get out of the way and not wait until the last minute to decide upon. I really appreciate your concern though, you're so sweet! Oh and for the webinar, I was just under the impression the room upgrade would be available to all who participated. I really just wanted the room upgrade Sorry, couldn't see them either but I wanted to! I know I hate that we can't see all that info either, but just like someone else mentioned, hopefully that's just a kink that hasn't been worked out yet. Beautiful bouquet BTW! You are the inspiration board guru now huh? Ditto on not using theknot.com anymore. That was always my go-to reference but I have no use for it anymore. The only thing I can do on there that I like is the budget calculator, but since we've pretty much thrown that out the window I doesn't really make sense anymore. Monograms Version 1.pdf

Everything else I've seen is very pretty. I chose Mori Lee for my BMs too and I love those suits. Good taste! Quote: Originally Posted by LAURERN1564 Hi Everyone! Have any of you received discounts for travelers for booking so many rooms? I know that if we book at least 15 rooms we stay for free, but I feel like a discount should be offered to our families? Any insight would be helpful, I have nooooo idea what I am doing Thx, Lauren Lauren! Getting a travel agent should be the 1st thing on your agenda if you're looking for great rates for your guests. If you find the right TA it will definitely make this experience more manageable and he/she can give you insight on promotions and deals that can benefit you as well as your guests. I recommend you still do your homework tho and the ladies here usually post when they hear of a deal. I've saved about $1500 so far. So much to think about. Thanks Gemma Gemma! Definitely go back and read. It's amazing how much you didn't think you wanted/needed to know about the resort and the process until you read. If you're like me, you'll try shortcuts but I honestly read from page 400 on and I highly recommend it. Also, talk to a TA about what they can secure for you and take the webinar so that you can to qualify for a free room upgrade. Have you heard anything from Faye? I got an email from Fabio Thursday but still haven't heard from Carolina...and I'm starting to freak out. I chose to procrastinate on dealing with the stuff at the resort but now that I'm ready to make decisions I have had no contact with anyone to actually make plans for a month!! Kinda frustrating!! I keep asking this question, but I don't think anyone has answered me yet. How do you hear about the webinars? Is that info from your TA or the website?
