  1. I've been searching and searching through the forums and feel like I'm going in circles! I have always dreamed of a destination wedding and fortunately so has my future husband. We'd really like to find a Caribbean, kid-friendly, all-inclusive, for under $1000 pp (including flight). I know that probably seems low but my FH has a lot of friends that are currently in college and we'd really like for them to be able to afford to go. Also, we'd really like to avoid Mexico if possible. My family is extremely paranoid about all of the crime occurring there and have basically taken the option off the table for us. Please help.....
  2. Has anyone ever had the issue of overbooking? I've seen on some threads that with a destination wedding you should assume 50% attendance. What happens if you get a higher rate and there isn't enough room? I'm hoping to do the full buyout so I was planning to send 60 invites. If I get 50% I'm golden, if I get a higher interest than what?!?!
  3. Can someone please refer me to a thread on Cabo Surf Hotel. I've searched for it but am only finding old posts from 2006. I did see one post that listed 5 different threads but when I selected them it just took me back to BDW homepage. Help
  4. I would wait a while before you try it on.. But when you do try it on, I would suggest putting on your full makeup, try pulling your hair back, and putting on some heels. I'm sure it will work out perfectly!
  5. It used to be traditional for the father of the bride to pay for the wedding. Well, I'm the youngest of 6 girls and my dad has shelled out for 4 weddings at this point so unfortunately for me he's tapped out. But fortunately for me he is because I can have the wedding of my dreams and I don't have to make decisions based off of others opinions. I've been to so many traditional weddings/receptions where the bride and groom didn't even know the majority of the people in attendance! I love how DW allow you to spend time with our family and friends, instead of our parents! Good luck!
  6. I've been strongly leaning towards Playa Fiesta in Puerto Vallarta but have recently discovered Rancho Pescadero near Todos Santos. Has anyone been there or heard anything about it? It has great reviews on tripadvisor and the pictures look amazing. The website says they can accomodate up to 60 over night guests which is perfect for our size. Rancho Pescadero
  7. I really like how you put the approx cost on the STD. Gives everyone a heads up in case they need to start saving!
  8. Wow! Easily the most amazing invitations I have ever seen. And all for under $300! That's insane!! I will definitely be saving this information!
  9. For the flights, you could try calling the airlines individually. A lot of times they will offer you a discounted rate or % off if you have a large group traveling.

The firt thing was a little card that was called Contents and listed everything in the package which was: -Boarding Pass (the invitation part) -Passport (we made these to include all sorts of information of the destination and our wedding) -Resort Brochure -Packing List (very cute papers that my sister found at Michaels) -A pack of gum and a wordsearch to do on the plane Everyone loved the packages and thought it was something that came with our wedding package but we actually made them all (except the packing list and gum of course). So did you have a confirmation of who all would attend your wedding before you placed your deposit at your location? I'm planning to book at Playa Fiesta in PV but I'm nervous about the room buy-outs. You either have to do a partial or full takeover of the place (the full is much cheaper) but I'm nervous I'll either have too many guests, or not enough.
  11. Welcome Vanessa! We haven't signed anything yet, but we are looking towards February 2012 so I'm right there with you on the early start! At least we should be well prepared

I just emailed Blaire for a little more clarification. I'm keeping my fingers crossed though!!
  13. Hey Chill Bride Have you picked anything or narrowed down your search? Sounds like we're looking for the same thing! I'm leaning towards Playa Fiesta in Puerto Vallarta. The reviews on here as well as tripadvisor are quite amazing! Happy planning
  14. So I spoke with Blaire recently and she said that if you book one year in advance you will save $40 per person, per night. I'm looking to book the 4 night, weekday, as a full takeover. That price starts at $84 so I have to assume that the rate will then drop to $44 per person, per night! I would then add D&E package #1 at $12.50 pp per night and have my guests pay for theirs and figuring in tax at 30%, that makes my grand total for my guests to be approximately under $300!!! Does that sound right? It seems awfully low in comparison to the numbers I see on this thread.
  15. Hello all! My name is Traci and obviously I am looking forward to a destination wedding. I would be the happiest bride to get married at Playa Fiesta in Puerto Vallarta. The reviews and threads on this site as well as tripadvisor leave no room for other options at this point Due to work and school schedules we will probably look towards Feb 2012 so I have plenty of time to plan and learn from the other ladies on this site! I'm very excited to be here!!!
