  1. We aren't having pre-rsvp's really. However, if they go to our website they can do an early rsvp. We won't send out the real rsvp's until our real STDs. And then we will send our invitations to those that rsvp'd. Inititally when we were planning, I was wanting to know a tentative head count way far in advance so I could budget the $ for the wedding. Since then, I've picked a location that doesn't cost pp for the wedding, it's just an all-inclusive price (regardless of guest count), so I don't care as much anymore LOL.
  2. Bumping this thread.... Did anyone ever use Karla and possibly write a review on her work?
  3. Thanks JennyBenz and Meagan! We received ours from VistaPrint last week and they turned out fabulously! The quality is better than I imagined. The postcards are our pre-save-the-dates and then we will DIY save-the-dates about a year out and then we will send DIY invitations (message in a bottle) to those that have actually rsvp'd. I'm not a crafty person at all, so I love being able to grab so many fantastic templates and ideas from this site. I was thinking about doing boarding passes for our save-the-dates so I may steal yours, acireta!
  4. I used Vistaprint for my Save the Dates so I'm not sure if that counts as professional or DIY. I purchased 100 post cards for a total of $24.96 (which includes shipping to my house). That makes each save the date, $0.25. Pretty cheap in my opinion!!!
  5. I thought I'd share the information that I received from the Marival Residences wedding coordinator. You can see that this applies to the Marival Resort as well. What I really like about this place is that they don't charge you per person over x amount of people. We are planning to have around 65 guests join us for our big day and the fee per person after 10, 20, or 30 people was really adding up! Let me know if anyone has any questions!! 6. Thanks for everyone's help and advice. I thinned out the border and changed the red to a darker red. I can't wait to start putting it on stuff!
  7. We aren't getting married until Dec 2013 but we plan to send out pre-save the dates asap (probably a postcard). We want to give our friends and family as much time as they may need to save for the trip. We then plan to send additional save the dates about a year ahead of time, and then the official invite (only to those that are going) about 4 months ahead of time.
  8. I've searched and could not find a section for Marival Residence brides so I thought I'd make one. Having received the 2012 Tripadvisor awards for #1 all inclusive in Mexico and #2 all inclusive in the world, I'm hoping this hotel may see some more action on this forum. My wedding date is booked for 12.13.13. I've had AMAZING contact with the wedding coordinator, Yanira. I mean AMAZING. I've spoken, or attempted to speak, to so many coordinators at other resorts and have not had the kind of response and attention that Yanira provides. We sometimes will speak 4 and 5 times a day w/ sometimes a less than hour turn around!! Any other Marival Residence & World Spa brides out there, or am I all by myself?

  10. I also LOVE the tequila shot seating cards. Do you think a resort would set that up or do you think it would be too time intensive for them? I also like the idea of cocktails for seating cards too.
  11. Thank you so much for all of the comments and input. I definitely agree about the darker color and thinner border.
  12. After 3 months of looking around, I finally decided on Marival Residences & World Spa to host our 12.13.13 wedding! I am so relieved to finally have a date and a space.
  13. I found this florist through the Playacar Palace forum, I think. http://www.floresrivieramaya.com/eng/ Their prices, in my opinion, are quite amazing. Free delivery in Playa del Carmen. I believe I'd read that brides would just meet the florist in the lobby and hand off the centerpieces and other arrangements to the wedding coordinator and would avoid paying any vendor or day pass fees. The centerpiece below was quoted to me for $38!!!!!! From an email they sent me "For bridemaids bouquets: from 35USD (with national flowers, excluding peonies, cala lilies, orchids, tulips) Centerpieces: from 35USD (with national flowers)" They also rent out plate chargers in a variety of colors if you are looking to dress your own tables.
  14. So I've noticed that a majority of the people in this forum, as well as on tripadvisor are from Canada. Anyone interested in this location from the US? I'm having a difficulty with flights coming from the midwest. This is my dream location, but it may be a difficult battle to convince people with 3 layovers and a ferry. Has anyone from the States been here on a direct flight to Samana?
  15. I actually made them in word! I just used clip art and played around with text boxes and fonts. If you search in the forum for 'monogram instructions' you'll find instructions on how to build them in word and powerpoint.
  16. I have to pat myself on the back I successfully added my first pictures to the forum AND added a poll up top!
  17. I have created 3 different monograms and was hoping to get the opinions of other brides. Please tell me which one you like the best. Thanks in advance!!!
  18. I'm reading through all of the posts and I may forget to ask this question once I'm completely done. Anyhow, Sharky00, did they charge you to setup all of your own decorations? Somewhere earlier I read something about $100 per table to setup with decorations that we bring from home. If that's the case, then I might be tempted to not hassle with it and just go with the Cowie tables at $300 per table.
  19. Wow... I know this is an older post, but my goodness your pictures are stunning!
  20. I found a detailed PDF that gives pricing for the tables. Of course they aren't free LOL. But $300 a table seems really high to me for decorations. http://www.springdaletravel.com/ColinCowie-PalaceResorts.pdf
  21. I found a great detailed PDF that gives prices for the new Colin Cowie Wedding Collection. It has the prices also for the reception tables which I couldn't find anywhere else. $300 per table seems really high, right?! http://www.springdaletravel.com/ColinCowie-PalaceResorts.pdf
  22. When you look at the photo gallery for weddings on the palace resorts website, they now have matching table setups for each of the new collections. If you qualify for free private functions due to your # of booked guests, do you get these decorations for free? They seem pretty awesome to me!
