  1. We were married at SDML on June 30, 2011 and it was amazing! David (the events manager) was amazing to work with and delivered on everything!! The food was amazing, the venue is gorgeous, and the service was awesome! We had our ceremony on the terrace, the dinner in the City Lights area, and then we rented out the Sunset Lounge upstairs privately for our party/dancing. Our guests were amazed at how beautiful SDML was and everyone raved about the food. We were originally going to get married at the resort we were staying at (Barcelo) but decided we didn't want the cookie cutter resort wedding and were not happy with how the wedding department there was treating us (never returning emails or phone calls, wedding coordinators quitting, etc). In the end we ended up spending more having the wedding at SDML, but it was totally worth it! If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask
  2. We just got married on June 30th and we used Suzanne Morel's company for our hair and makeup. The day before the wedding I went into Cabo to her salon/spa and had my hair and makeup trial as well as a manicure and pedicure for myself and my sister (Maid of Honor). On the day of the wedding 3 lovely ladies came to our resort to do our hair and makeup. One lady did hair, one did makeup, and the other was the coordinator who translated for us and ensured things ran smoothly. I could not have been more impressed with both the work they did and with the service they provided! They were great to work with and my bridesmaids, my mom, and myself were blown away with the quality of their work. My sister is a makeup artist and hair stylist so we have pretty high standards, and we were completely impressed. They use high quality makeup (MAC, Bobbi Brown) and are very talented and skilled. Our hair and makeup held up well through the night and we got a lot of compliments. I would definitely highly recommend using Suzanne Morel's company for your wedding day! If anyone would like to see pictures just shoot me a message
  3. I bought this wedding dress in October and it just recently came in. We decided to change venues and this dress no longer works for what we are going for in terms of the style of the wedding. http://www.preownedweddingdresses.com/dresses/26534/Paloma-Blanca-4106-Size-6.html This dress is beautiful- natural raw silk in a cream color. The sash with the flower is not attached so you can wear it or go without it, or even add a different one. The dress is surprisingly light weight and is very figure flattering. I had originally spoken with the seamstress about the option of making the bottom part detachable, which I thought would be a fun option (it can be done)! A beautiful dress that I hope goes to a good home. It's a size 10 but I typically wear a 4-6 in street clothes. All I have are pictures from the internet as I don't even have any of me in it. You can see better pictures if you go to www.palomablanca.com and search for dress 4106.

  7. Hi cl2001, My fiance and I are getting married in Cabo this June. Us and our 40 guests are staying at the Barcelo resort, but we aren't having our wedding there. We're going to have our wedding at Sunset Da Mona Lisa (sunsetmonalisa.com) which has a beautiful terrace overlooking the ocean! Worth checking out if this is what you're looking for. If you and your guests aren't going to be staying at a resort then it would not be cost effective to have your wedding at a resort- you would have to pay for a guest pass for each person on top of the cost of the wedding. There are lots of great venues in Cabo that I discovered in my research. If you're planning it from afar it may be worth your money to hire a wedding coordinator to help you out. It may seem like a lot to spend on one, but their expertise and knowledge of good vendors (for flowers, cake, etc etc) will save you headache, time, and money in the end. That's been my experience anyways! Happy planning
  8. I'm using Rachel Hansen and she has been amazing!! Hiring her has definitely the best decision we've made! http://www.infinity-cabo.com/ [email protected]
  9. There is a thread on the forum about Barcelo Cabo- check it out for more info. http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/thread/53684/barcelo-los-cabos

  11. Hi Zahra! Welcome to the forum! I must say that I am so so so happy we hired Rachel to help us coordinate the wedding! She has been amazing! Our venue is 20-25 minutes from Barcelo. We hired transportation to drive guests back and forth from the venue to the resort. There are a few different transportation companies in Cabo from what I understand. There are a variety of different vehicles you can rent- vans, suburbans, escalades, limos, and cars, and obviously varying prices. If you have more questions feel free to contact me!
  12. Thank you Victoria! I am much happier now that we've changed venues- I can finally be excited instead of stressed out! Where are you getting married at now?
  13. Hi mllek1986! You're right, it's such a shame that Barcelo has such a poor wedding dept because it's such a nice resort! I'm still definitely looking forward to our stay there! Yes you sure can use an outside coordinator when having your wedding at Barcelo. I contacted a bunch of coordinators I found from this forum and also just searching on google. In the end I went with the coordinator that I got along best with, who seemed most professional, and who I had the best "gut feeling" about. We're working with Rachel Hansen of Infinity Weddings. She's super nice, very prompt with getting back to you, and I like that she really seems to care about making your wedding special! There are a ton of coordinators out there, so search around and find who suits you best. We are having our ceremony and reception at Sunset da Mona Lisa. The price is higher, but they do have lots of options for different meal price ranges etc. If you contact a coordinator just let them know your budget and they will help you find what works for you.
  14. When we decided on a destination wedding in Cabo we wanted to choose a resort that accomodated us and our 35 guests the best. We would be having kids as well as grandparents and wanted a resort that was modern, not too big or too small, and was affordable for our guests. After research we chose the Barcelo because we thought it met our criteria best. We liked Dreams as well but it was significantly more expensive for our guests and we didn't want people not to be able to come. We knew that the wedding planning dept at Barcelo didn't have a lot of reviews because it was so new, and that we were taking a big chance, but we decided to go ahead and book there. In September we put down a deposit to have our wedding at the Barcelo resort in June 2011. We chose the strawberry package and planned to have around 35 guests. Us and all of our guest have booked flights and hotel already so we will all be staying at the Barcelo. I'm happy with that decision still. While there have been mixed reviews on the resort, I think our stay will be nice and us and our guests will enjoy it. Now, the wedding planning is a whole other issue. The whole process has been nothing but a nightmare! First the original wedding coordinator leaves and they fail to let us know. The new wedding coordinator is a sweet girl yes, but she doesn't respond to emails or phone calls promptly, or at all sometimes. I imagine she is overwhelmed and swamped, but that is no excuse. If they need more help they should hire someone else! When we are lucky enough to get someone on the phone they say "oh we've been trying to get in touch with you, but emails won't go through, or your phone number doesn't work". Such a blatant lie. I understand that some resorts only deal with the weddings that are coming up soon- so you have to wait to plan things until the months or a few weeks before your wedding date. I can understand that, but when you need information from the resort to help you plan things on your end then they should be getting back to you. We did not feel comfortable waiting until the month before our wedding to book vendors- chances are the best vendors will be already booked by then. In the end my fiance and I decided we wanted to try and get out of our contract with Barcelo to have our wedding there and book somewhere off-site. After many phone calls and emails, my fiance was able to get in touch with Barcelo and we were able to cancel the wedding without penalty. They were probably sick of hearing from us! Our deposit will be applied to our room as credit (I'll believe that when I see it though). We have hired an outside coordinator who is helping us plan an off-site wedding and I am soooo relieved! I have heard of other things that Barcelo is doing that makes me even happier we're not having our wedding there. Apparently they recently increased the price for a day pass for vendors to come to the resort to $85 per person despite whatever price was listed in your contract (ours was $65). They also have random fees thrown in here and there without any mention of them when you book your wedding- i.e. if your reception goes over 3 hrs you have to pay $12 per person per hour (that includes guests staying at the resort!!!!), and then $15 per hour for each staff member. This just seems ridiculous to me. Long story short, if you're thinking of the Barcelo for your wedding then I would make sure you really do your research and get everything in writing before you make a deposit or sign a contract!
  15. Hey Ladies! Our date is June 30, 2011 at Barcelo Los Cabos resort! Just wanted to say hello! As for photographers- we booked Alec & T. I've spoken with T. a number of times on the phone and via email and she is great! I spoke with other brides that used them and they were all very happy! Their work is amazing! I'd looked into them
  16. Hi Ladies!  We have booked our wedding at Barcelo for June 30, 2011! Trying to get in touch with Violeta can definitely be annoying at times- but I'm hoping closer to our wedding date it will get better. I had thought about getting an outside wedding coordinator so they can deal with contacting violeta and all the wedding stuff, but in the end it was going to cost way too much money- I'd rather deal with trying to track down Violeta myself than pay thousands of dollars for someone else to  We chose the Strawberry Package and are planning on a Gazebo ceremony and a beach reception. We have about 30-40 guests coming. I think we're going to book Suzane Morel for our hair and makeup as well. As for all the other details, I have no idea still- lots of time to figure it out. I'm looking forward to chatting with you ladies to get advice  Amanda
  17. Hi Ladies! We are hoping to book at Dreams Cabo for either end of June or beginning of July 2011. We live in Virginia but most of our guest are coming from Canada (Calgary and Toronto) since that's where we're from. Just wondering what route you all took to book things? Local travel agent? I'm kind of confused about the whole thing really! I contacted Tammy on here but she said she could only book the hotel for our guest and not flights because they are from Canada I'm assuming. I would rather have things as a package since I imagine it would be cheaper. Just wanted to ask another Canadian Dreams bride how she went about it
