Oh my gosh my mom is AWESOME!!! A couple a months ago I told her about OOT Bags and asked for her help - all I wanted was some embroidery done because I had seen on here someone included in their bags a strip of outrageously bright coloured fabric to tie onto everyone's luggage to easily identify their suitcases at the airports. I thought I'd take it a step further and embroider these pieces of fabric with my monogram (my mom's huge hobby is machine embroidery). SHE took it upon herself to take it yet another step further! She sent me a prototype, still needs to be cleaned up around the edges, and will have a hole on one end for the tie, and the back actually has a plastic sleeve with a slip of paper so my guests can write their address information!! WAY more than what I was expecting but they are SO awesome! )

Birds of Prey Ringbearers

That sounds so cool! -
I still sent all mine regardless of who said they're coming or not. I even had several family members on my fiancé's side who knew they were coming but told me not to send an invite to them... I dunno why, because it would save me the $2-$3 spent on theirs? I don't know. I did anyway. Besides, my invites had a little blurb about the reception at home, and information about our website. AND, I put a lot of blood, sweat and tears into those invitations! If those people were on the guest list, coming or not, they were going to receive that invitation!! LOL

Thanks for the info!!

I went to a destination wedding last April and they were handed. I don't know if they're expected or anything, but I loved the idea myself, which is why I want to do them.

Wedding attendant title?

Man of Honour is good too. His mom was saying that she's going to a wedding in August where the groom's "Best man" is a girl, so she's the "Best Woman". That one's easy, but I got stumped with having a guy on my side. Still not quite sure which one I like better though. -
Wedding attendant title?

Oh Bride's Honour Attendant sounds good! ) -
So we are only having one attendant on each side and my best girlfriend has already decided she is not coming to Cuba, so that really left me stuck with who to have as my maid of honour. I finally decided to go with my best guy friend, I just asked him today and as he and his wife are definitely coming, he gladly accepted to stand up for me. But what is his title? I thought of having the Groom's Best Man and the Bride's Best Man, but both my fiancé think that's a little awkward. I don't wanna just say Bride's Attendant because it sounds more general like the term Bridesmaid. He's in the spot of my Maid of Honour, so more honourable title would be better, but we can't think of anything appropriate. Any ideas?

There's a lot on that list that looks like fun!! We're going to have a hard time picking just a few!!

Thanks girls. I've kind of come to the realization that I can't make him do anything. He knows our colour and we don't even HAVE a best man yet, so there's not point in rushing him so that the best man can match. They'll just do it all at the same time. But it's nice to hear that I'm not the only one having these frustrations.

Oh look at that!! Thanks!!

Does anybody have any information on the excursions that are available in Cuba, specifically around Varadero? I just want to get an idea of what there is, and we do want to plan one with all our guests if they choose, but I would like to get an idea of what there is now, rather than wait until we get there and do all our deciding then... I know when I went to Jamaica last year, I kept all the little pamphlets from the excursions that were available to us, so maybe there's a bride who has just come back who has something like that, or some ideas?
-
Aw I can't imagine your frustration. ( And so close to your wedding date too!! I still have about 8 months 'til mine, we have 8 people booked, not including us and our kids, but TONS of people have said they are coming but we're still waiting. That's frustrating enough. Hang in there.

I'm frustrated with my fiancé regarding choosing what he's going to wear for the ceremony. I realize we're still 8 months away, but what I figured was NOW is the time to go looking for something because the "summer" stuff is out in stores right now whereas when he will need to be looking, in January or February, he may not have so much luck. But what makes me want to scream is when anyone asks him what he's wearing for the ceremony, he says, "My white swim trunks and bare feet and Suzanne will be wearing a white bikini!!" They think he's joking, I know he's half serious! Now he's at least wearing clothes, but he doesn't care. He got this white shirt and pant set when we were in Jamaica last spring but I don't want him to wear that, it looks like pajamas, plus, my dress is ivory so he can't wear white. I want him to wear a nice pair of khakis or tan linen pants and he can wear the shirt he got in Jamaica (maybe). But then when I was trying to motivate him to talk about it, he comes out and says he doesn't want to go shopping until *just* before we leave, or even find something when we get there (to Cuba!)!! I'm like, WHAT!?!? No freakin' way!! I understand he wants to wait until just before, because he intends to lose some weight before then, which I get, because I will be too. But I'm not one to leave it 'til the last minute, plus, the best man has to match so it needs to be coordinated. Argh. I just needed to vent on that because I've given up talking to him about it - for now anyway.

Who paid for your dress

I was 5 months pregnant at the time (and huge) so I pretty much had to take whatever second hand dress I could fit into. So I'm paying for this dress myself and my mom is contributing in other ways. -
The template is from Aylee Bits. For the band around the envelope I just put my monogram in the middle of five strips that I fit on a 8.5x11" piece of paper, cut the strips out and glued them around each envelope. I was going to mount the white bands on another colour paper but after all the rest of the construction, I got lazy and decided the plain white was nice enough.

The wedding at Gran Bahia was beautiful. I LOVED that the gazebo was out on the peninsula over the water, so it was like a beach wedding, but without having to worry about other beach-goers getting in the way of pictures either for the ceremony or for pictures afterward. It was windier out there, but really beautiful. That's what convinced us that a destination wedding was the way to go. )

I never thought of a Do-Not-Play list... Personally though, I disagree with you all. I think all those songs - YMCA, Chicken Dance and Macarena - are great wedding reception songs because though they're silly and stupid, *everybody* knows them, most people like them, AND it gets people up off their feet - which is kinda what you want right? I have a photo from my sister's wedding last summer of a whole bunch of us, ranging from my own 6 and 9 year old daughters, 11 year old cousins to my 70 year old grandfather in a circle doing the Chicken Dance and every single person in the photo is smiling! Similarly, I have a photo from my mom's wedding in 2005 of a bunch of us doing the Macarena and again, age ranges from about Tween to Grandpa, and all are smiling and laughing too. They're just fun and silly and puts people in the mood to get up and dance and have fun!

I made 100 of these. It was very much fun designing and putting them together, and since sending them out last week, I have received A LOT of compliments on them! It may be challenging, but I enjoyed it, and with some others to help you with the production of them, it really wouldn't take that much to do. I did most of it all by myself just because I'm such a perfectionist and found myself fixing the mistakes that my production line made... But that's me.
