  1. I am getting married on the beach and my dress is floor length with a WEE bit dragging at the back. Wouldn't call it a train, but it will drag a bit. My seamstress said it looked really pretty like that, and I agree. I'll be barefoot for the ceremony. But I also have flip flops for walking around, not that they'll do much for the dragging. It's not a bad fabric to wash, so it shouldn't be a problem to clean afterward.
  2. We made a small registry. We already live together and have a family but there are still a few things we need or want and some people like looking on a registry to get ideas for what the couple wants (I like registries, anyway). But we prefer presentation. And we're not putting either on the invites, we'll just spread that by word of mouth.
  3. That was great! I think I've seen that before, I need a refresher this morning. Thanks for posting!
  4. Sorry to hear about your troubles. I totally understand how it dampers your spirits about what should be the happiest day of your life! It's hard to keep you chin up. Hang in there.
  5. I've always thought that for bridesmaids, having different styles of dresses in the same colour is great simply for that fact that not everyone is built the same way! One bridesmaid looks better and is more comfortable in a long gown with thicker straps, while another one is more comfy in shorter strapless styles... etc. And since they're all the same colour, it's still uniform and looks nice. But I guess not everyone would agree with that.
  6. I love the digital picture frame idea. I think that's what I'm going to use for my reception. Our venue is kind of outdoors, and during the day so a slideshow on the wall might be difficult to see and impossible to control the lighting.
  7. What a cute idea! What I would do is go to a fabric store and get a length of clear tablecloth vinyl. Cut out a bunch of squares, probably 2x2" and then sew the vinyl squares onto a card, like an index card or something like that with your monogram and a cute saying on it, and before you close up the stitched vinyl square, slip the quarter into it.
  8. I found tons of cute ideas, for anything not just travel mugs, on Cafepress.ca.
  9. Does anybody have a resort map for the Iberostar Varadero ?? Maybe a bride who's back or someone who has been there before? I want to include one in my welcome book as some of you ladies have, but the only one I can find by Googling it is black and white and somewhat blurry. It'll do if I can't find anything else, but it's not very pretty...
  10. I LOVE the idea for the Excedrin and Motrin!!! I've been struggling with this - looking for those individual packages. They're hard to find in Canada, at least where I live, and I didn't want to buy too much online. I love the idea, problem solved!! ) Your bags look great. Simple is key. Great job.
  11. I LOVE the idea of doing postcards for the destination part. We're going to self-address and stamp them and have our guests fill them out and mail them from Cuba so we'll receive them when we get home. For our at home reception, we're going to expand on that idea and get a whole bunch of postcards from here (home) for our guests to fill out. Now I'll just need to find a book to display them.
  12. My sister is my maid of honour and she refuses to wear dresses so I want her to wear similar khaki pants as the guys with a dress shirt the same colour as my flowergirls. Different from the guys because she is on my side, but still uniform.
  13. I got the pens at Staples, but they're not specifically the colours of my wedding. They are just multi coloured - red, pink, purple, blue, turquoise, green and yellow - in one box. They just seemed a lot more fun than blue.
  14. Okay I totally loved the idea of doing personalized pens for my OOT bags, but I got discouraged over and over again by the prices online. I'm trying to keep my bags as low budget as possible and the best prices I always found, you had to order a minimum quantity, like, 100 pens, and I only need about 20.  So then one day, in another attempt to search online for inexpensive personalized pens, I found a DIY personalized pen project!! I was SO excited! So I tried it and here's what I came up with:   And here's the link for the instructions: http://www.microsoft.com/athome/moredone/personalizedpens.mspx  I love DIY projects. )
  15. Oh my gosh that's so lucky for you!! Â I'm in the same situation - I hope it turns out as well for me as it did for you! I found my dream dress online and after several weeks of deliberating, I just ordered it, except I ordered mine when I was about 6 months pregnant, based on my pre-pregnancy measurements (plus one size bigger). My dress has been in for about 2 weeks now and I'm a week overdue, so I still haven't even been able to try it on! And knowing the bridal boutique is only a short walk away from my house and my dress is there is killing me!! LOL I can't wait to lose enough baby weight to be able to try it on and at least see what it looks like!! ) Â So glad it all worked for you! They're both beautiful dresses!
  16. That's what I was going to suggest as well. I set up ours at Snapfish.com. But I also like Shutterfly. I already have an account at Shutterfly though and didn't want to share that one.
  17. These are awesome. I've been trying to think of what to do for welcome books or letter etc. I might actually try my hand at making these. ) Thanks for the inspiration!
  18. These are my "flower girls" although by the time we go, they'll be 11 and 8 years old, so we're calling them my Junior Bridesmaids. These are the flower girl dresses I made for my sister's wedding. I'm going to use the same pattern, except make them cotton with an organza overlay (a little cooler than crepe back satin) and they will be teal with a light lime green sash around the waist. Â
  19. What does the renewal ceremony require? I'm wondering about the costs and stuff, I keep going back and forth on this. I've been married before so it will cost me $250-ish to get my divorce certificate translated and notarized, on top of the wedding fees at the resort. I thought if a renewal ceremony is cheaper then I also wouldn't need to get my divorce certificate done, we might save a lot more... Plus, then we wouldn't have to wait months to receive the marriage certificate and then get IT translated back into English as well... Still not sure though.
